Outfitting your pickup to tow a heavy-duty flatbed or livestock trailer is easy with CURT OEM puck system gooseneck safety chain anchors. Like our OEM puck system gooseneck balls, these safety chain anchors utilize the puck system built into certain pickup trucks today with the towing prep package. They feature a patented installation system, easily dropping into the truck bed pucks without any tools required. They feature heavy-duty cast steel construction with a durable carbide black powder coat finish, and they offer large safety chain loops to accept heavy-duty hooks. These particular OEM puck system gooseneck safety chain anchors are compatible with Ram pickups with the truck bed puck system. They cannot be installed without it. The anchors can be purchased as a standalone item or as part of a complete kit (#60618) that also includes the OEM puck system gooseneck ball, a rubber hole cover and a durable storage case.

The CURT 60698 is designed for trucks with puck system mounts in the truck bed. It installs into the rear-most puck system mounts on both sides of the bed. To confirm compatibility, check whether your truck bed has puck system mounts (small rectangular openings or receptacles). If your truck does not have puck system mounts, this product will not fit. Contact CURT at 877-287-8634 or check your truck manufacturer's documentation to verify your truck has puck system mounts.
The CURT 60698 has a gross trailer weight (GTW) capacity of 38,000 lbs. and a vertical load capacity of 9,500 lbs. Never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity, even if the anchor system has a higher rating.
Always install both safety chain anchors in the rear-most puck system mounts of your truck bed—one on each side. The manual emphasizes that installation must be in the rear-most mounts, not in any other puck system location. After insertion, rotate each anchor 90° toward the center of the truck so both rings face the center.
1. Insert both safety chain anchors into the rear-most truck bed puck system mounts (one on each side). 2. Rotate each anchor 90° toward the center of the truck. 3. The CURT 60698 has a gross trailer weight (GTW) capacity of 38,000 lbs. However, you must never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity. Your truck's towing limit may be lower than the anchor system's rating, so always follow your vehicle manufacturer's specifications.
No. Do not tow more than one trailer at a time. Towing multiple trailers may cause loss of control.
Verify the trailer safety chain length before towing. Leave only enough slack in the chain to allow full turning without interference between the truck cab/box corners and the trailer. Too much slack in the chain may prevent maintaining control in the event of separation. Ensure the safety chains and hooks are rated to the load capacity of your trailer.
There should be a minimum clearance of 6 inches between the bottom of the trailer's overhang and the top of the truck bed sides. Check this clearance before towing to prevent contact during turning or suspension movement.
Keep the safety chain anchor pins and towing system lubricated regularly using silicone spray or equivalent to prevent wear and rust. When the anchors are not in use, remove them from the truck bed mounts and store in a dry, clean area. Place the puck system anchor hole covers (supplied by the truck manufacturer) into the puck system holes when the anchors are removed to keep dirt and debris out. Periodically check the condition of all towing equipment, ensure all fasteners are tight, and verify all structural components are sound. Failure to maintain the towing system could result in poor performance and/or failure.
After installation, verify: (1) both safety chain anchors are properly installed in the rear-most puck system mounts, (2) each anchor is secured with a 5mm lynch pin, (3) the 12mm pins and 5mm lynch pins are fully inserted and engaged, (4) the trailer attachments to the safety chain anchors are secure and cannot be shaken free, (5) there is a minimum of 6 inches clearance between the bottom of the trailer's overhang and the top of the truck bed sides, and (6) the safety chains and hooks are rated to the load capacity of your trailer.
Proper trailer loading is critical. Place heavy items close to the floor near the trailer axle center line. Balance the load side to side and firmly secure all items in the trailer to prevent shifting. Tongue weight should be 10–15% of the gross trailer weight for most trailers; too low a tongue weight often produces a tendency to sway. Never load the trailer heavier behind the trailer axle(s), as this can cause instability.
Vehicle performance (braking, handling, acceleration, turning radius) can be drastically affected by a trailer. Allow additional time and space for stopping, changing lanes, passing, and turning. Verify adequate turning clearance between the truck cab/box corners and the trailer before towing. Avoid or drive slowly over rough terrain, as severe bumps can damage the towing system.
Periodically check the condition of all towing equipment. Ensure all fasteners are tight and that all structural components are sound. Do not tow a trailer with worn or damaged parts. Verify all anchors are properly installed, secured with lynch pins, and that the trailer attachments to the safety chain anchors are secure and cannot be shaken free during towing.
The CURT 60698 installs into truck bed puck system mounts. Verify your truck has puck system mounts in the truck bed. If unsure, contact CURT at 877-287-8634 or check your truck manufacturer's documentation.
