Reese has designed towing equipment since 1952 and remains a benchmark for heavy-duty towing. The line covers fifth wheel hitches such as the modular M5, gooseneck couplers including the Goose Box, air-ride and short-bed pin boxes, weight distribution systems with active sway control, and the accessories that connect them, all built to exceed published industry standards.
Reese has been pioneering towing performance since 1952, when Margaret Reese asked her husband TJ to stop travel trailers rocking every time somebody walked through them. His answer, the first pair of stabilising jacks, was simple and effective enough to change the RV industry. From that starting point Reese grew into a designer and manufacturer of complete towing systems, and today it anchors the heavy-duty end of the Horizon Global towing portfolio.
Fifth wheel towing is where the brand's engineering is most visible. The M5 fifth wheel hitch uses a modular design that breaks into manageable sections for assembly, with a wider stance, tighter tolerances and a shock absorption system aimed at the jolts that travel up through a truck bed. For owners who would rather tow from a gooseneck coupler and keep the bed clear, the Goose Box 20K replaces the trailer's king pin with a gooseneck connection carrying its own air-ride cushioning.
Pin boxes are a Reese speciality. The 5th Airborne uses air-ride technology to dampen road shock and reduce the chucking motion that makes fifth wheel towing tiring, while the Sidewinder was designed for short-bed pickups, pivoting the connection point so the trailer can turn sharply without the front cap meeting the cab.
For conventional towing, Reese weight distribution systems restore load to the tow vehicle's front axle and control sway. The Pro Round Bar distributes weight evenly while damping sway, and the Pro Dual Cam II uses active cam-based sway control that works harder the stronger the sway force becomes. Complete kits pair bars, head and shank to a rated tongue weight, and dedicated sway control kits can be added to existing setups. The products suit RV owners, horse and livestock haulers and anyone towing near the upper end of a vehicle's rating.

The REESE Adjustable Utility Ball Mount (model 70894) is a hitch-mounted ball mount designed to tow trailers. It features an adjustable height range with a drop range of 4.25" to 7.25" and a rise range of 5", allowing you to match the ball height to your trailer coupler. The mount has a 2" x 2" shank that fits into a standard hitch receiver and accommodates 1" diameter hitch balls.
This product must use REESE Tactical Hitch Balls with a 1" shank. The ball diameter must match your trailer coupler size. The ball rating must equal or exceed your trailer's GVWR (Gross Vehicle Weight Rating). Note that raised balls typically have reduced load ratings compared to standard height balls.

The weight carrying capacity depends on the position used: Drop position – 7500 GTW (Gross Towing Weight) / 750 TW (Tongue Weight); Rise position – 3500 GTW / 350 TW. Do not exceed these limits.
Before mounting, confirm that there will be no interference from the tow vehicle and any other mounted accessories (such as spare tires, exhaust systems, bumpers, or steps). Check for interference again after installation is complete. This is critical to safe operation.
Insert the hitch bar into the hitch receiver box and install the pull pin. Place the mount onto the hitch bar and move it up or down to achieve the proper height for your trailer. The adjustment holes are spaced 1.50" apart. The hitch bar may be used either up or down to access different height positions.
Always offset the ball mount toward the tongue of the trailer, never toward the tow vehicle. This orientation is critical for safe towing.
Torque the ball nut to 250 ft/lbs after the mount is attached to the hitch. Always use a lockwasher and place the washer next to the nut. Unless otherwise specified by the ball manufacturer, this torque applies to 1" nuts on REESE standard height hitch balls.

Yes. There is only one Rise position for this product (at 6.25" height). Do not use the ball mount in the storage position (shown at 7.5" height) for towing—this position is for storage only. Do not use the mount in any position other than the designated drop and rise positions for towing.
If any part of your towing system bottoms out, or if you suspect damage may have occurred in any other way, pull over and make a thorough inspection. Correct any problems before resuming travel. Severe bumps and badly undulating roads can damage your towing vehicle, hitch, and trailer, and should be negotiated at a slow, steady speed.
Good driving habits need extra emphasis when towing. The additional weight affects acceleration and braking, so allow extra time for passing, stopping, and changing lanes. Signal well in advance of maneuvers. Periodically check the condition of all towing equipment and keep it in top condition. Always hook up trailer lights, turn signals, electric brakes, and break-away switch connections (if equipped) even for short trips. Remove the hitch from the towing vehicle when not towing to reduce the chance of striking it on driveway ramps or other objects.
Tongue weight should be about 10–15 percent of the gross trailer weight for most trailers. Too low a percentage of tongue weight will often produce a tendency to sway. Proper trailer loading is important: heavy items should be placed close to the floor near the trailer axle, and the load should be balanced side-to-side and firmly secured to prevent shifting.
