These custom two-plug units are specifically designed to be used with any Tekonsha brake controller. The Plug & Play feature on the Tekonsha wiring harnesses makes them easy to install. Each wiring harness is made up of four copper wires wrapped with a braided nylon thread to insulate the wires and protect them against nicks, punctures, and elevated temperatures. The four-pin Plug & Play connectors on each end of the harness are uniquely designed, with one end to fit each vehicle based on make and model year specifications, while the other end plugs easily into any Tekonsha brake controller.
Tekonsha trailer brake controller harnesses are custom designed, giving you plenty of wire to reach between where it is connected to the vehicle and where it connects to the brake controller without stretching or straining the wires. And because Tekonsha is the leader in wiring and electrical, you can relax knowing your connections will be safe and secure, so you can hit the road with confidence! With Tekonsha, Lifes a Journey. Stop Often.

Tekonsha is a leading manufacturer of electronic trailer brake controllers, pioneering the category in the 1970s. The lineup spans proportional units such as the Prodigy P3 and Prodigy iD, time-delayed controllers, the wireless Prodigy RF, plus vehicle-specific wiring harnesses, adapters and trailer brake components engineered for smooth, predictable stopping at any speed.
Tekonsha Engineering Company began in 1964 building RV steps and mirrors. Within a few years it had found its real calling, and by the 1970s Tekonsha was pioneering the manufacture of electronic trailer brake controllers, the product category that still defines the brand. More than half a century later it remains the reference name in trailer braking and is part of the Horizon Global group alongside Reese, Draw-Tite, Fulton, Bulldog and Wesbar.
A brake controller is the component that tells a trailer's electric brakes how hard to work and when, and getting that right is the difference between a controlled stop and a shove from behind. Tekonsha builds both major types. Proportional controllers use an internal accelerometer to sense how quickly the tow vehicle is slowing and apply trailer braking to match, so light braking stays light and hard braking is immediate. Time-delayed controllers ramp to a preset output over a fixed interval, a simpler and more economical approach that suits occasional towing.
The current brake controller range covers most of that ground. The Prodigy iD pairs with a phone through Tekonsha's EDGE technology for setup and monitoring, the P3 offers storable settings for multiple trailers and a trilingual colour LED display, the Prodigy P2 adds a dimmable display and boost mode for heavier loads, and the Voyager keeps operation simple and dependable. The Prodigy RF mounts to the trailer itself and controls wirelessly, which suits rental fleets and drivers who swap tow vehicles.
Installation is supported by vehicle-specific brake control harnesses that plug into a factory connector rather than requiring cut-and-splice wiring, along with mounting brackets and adapters. Matched controller bundles pair a unit with the correct harness. Products are tested to meet and often exceed published industry standards.

Yes, the 3062-037 electric trailer brake control wiring adapter is designed for the Subaru Ascent. The adapter connects to the vehicle's 4-pin electric brake control harness located underneath the dash, left of the steering column.
The 3062-037 is an electric trailer brake control wiring adapter for the Subaru Ascent. It connects your vehicle's factory electric brake control harness to an aftermarket electric brake control unit, allowing you to operate trailer brakes from your tow vehicle.
You will need a trim panel remover tool to complete the installation.
The manual requires that the vehicle be off with the keys removed from the ignition before beginning installation. The manual does not explicitly require battery disconnection, but you should always read and follow all warnings and instructions printed on the tow vehicle's battery.
The vehicle's electric brake control harness is located underneath the dash and to the left of the steering column. It is taped to another harness near the emergency brake pedal. It has a 4-pin connector that mates with the adapter connector.
First, plug the brake control adapter into the mating receptacle on the backside of the brake control unit itself. Then, plug the adapter into the vehicle's electric brake control harness connector (the 4-pin connector located under the dash, left of the steering column). Finally, follow all brake control manufacturer's installation instructions and mount the unit as directed.
The adapter is rated for a maximum of 3 axles with 6 brakes at 16 amps. Do not exceed the lower of your towing manufacturer's rating (including the rating in your vehicle owner's manual) or this 16-amp specification. Overloading the circuit can cause fires.
Always wear safety glasses during installation. Always read and follow all warnings and instructions included with the adapter and the brake control unit before beginning. Read your vehicle owner's manual and the brake control manufacturer's instructions for additional information. Do not exceed the amperage rating to prevent fire hazard.
The manual lists a trim panel remover as a required tool and mentions locating a routing path for the adapter to exit the bottom of the dash, which suggests trim panel removal may be necessary. However, the manual does not provide specific details about which panels to remove or the exact removal procedure. Follow the brake control manufacturer's installation instructions for complete guidance.
After plugging the adapter into the vehicle's electric brake control harness connector, locate a routing path for the adapter to exit the bottom of the dash. Then complete the installation per the electric brake control manufacturer's instructions and mount the unit as directed. Perform all test procedures as instructed by the brake control manufacturer.
The manual requires that you perform test procedures as instructed by the electric brake control manufacturer. The manual does not specify what those tests are, so refer to the brake control unit's installation instructions for the complete testing procedure.
