Part Type: Chest Box
UWS utility chest boxes provide unbeatable storage and security for your items, whether in your vehicle, in the shop, at home or on the job. Each box features a corrosion-resistant aluminum construction, a stainless steel locking system and a patented RigidCore foam-filled lid -- all to keep your equipment and valuables safe, well-organized and easily accessible whenever needed. This particular tool box is designed to offer a perfect fit for the UWS cargo carrier #UWS-CARRIER. It can also be used as a standard storage chest box for a variety of applications. It is constructed from extra-thick aluminum for increased structural strength, and the tub is welded together into a single piece to make it completely waterproof. The lid features a patented foam core, sandwiched between two aluminum plates. This core greatly increases the rigidity of the lid and helps prevent bending and warping, making operation very smooth. The locking mechanism of the UWS cargo carrier tool box provides excellent security for your items, featuring stainless steel, key-operated paddle handles. Stainless steel construction supplies the locks with long-lasting corrosion resistance, and the lid also has a MicroSeal gasket, blocking moisture, dust and insects from getting inside and damaging your valuables. The lid also opens a full 90 degrees for easier access, and it is equipped with self-opening struts for convenient operation when your hands are full. Like all UWS tool boxes, this product is proudly assembled right here in the USA for style and long-lasting dependability (NOTE: This product is heavily packaged for parcel shipping).

UWS designs and builds heavy-duty truck tool boxes and storage for tradespeople and truck owners. The line covers crossover and side-mount boxes, chest boxes, underbody boxes, transfer tanks and dog boxes. Every aluminum box is designed, fabricated and welded in Perry, Florida, with construction aimed at job-site abuse, road vibration and daily use.
UWS is a leading manufacturer and designer of truck tool boxes and truck accessories, and a Lippert brand. The company's focus is narrow and deliberate: storage that stands up to being opened and slammed shut dozens of times a day, loaded past what looks reasonable, and left outdoors in whatever weather the job brings. Its customers are electricians, plumbers, contractors, farmers, outdoorsmen and truck owners who treat a pickup as a working tool rather than transport.
The catalog covers the full range of bed storage. Crossover boxes sit across the bed behind the cab in single-lid, gull-wing, secure-lock and low-profile styles, so there is a fit whether the priority is capacity, rear visibility or working under a tonneau. Side-mount boxes mount along the bed rails and keep the bed floor free for cargo, while underbody boxes tuck beneath the frame rails of service bodies and flatbeds.
Beyond the bed, UWS makes portable chest boxes that move between vehicles and the shop, transfer tanks and combination tank-and-toolbox units for crews working away from fuel supply, and insulated, ventilated dog boxes for hunters and handlers.
Manufacturing sits at the centre of the brand's identity. Every UWS aluminum tool box is designed, fabricated and welded in Perry, Florida, by tradespeople with decades of experience, and the company's Rooted in Trades initiative is built around that connection to skilled manual work. Boxes use heavy-gauge aluminum, continuous welds at the seams, weather stripping to seal against rain and dust, and locking systems intended to resist tampering. The practical result is storage that keeps tools dry, organized and where they were left.

UWS | Tough. Reliable.
The package includes one utility chest box and two keys. A mounting hardware kit may or may not be included depending on the model. If the mounting hardware kit is not included, you will need to purchase your own hardware: two 5/16" or M8 bolts, four washers, and two lock nuts.
No. Do not use this product for storing or transporting flammables, explosives, hazardous materials or hazardous waste, such as containers of gasoline, solvents, gun powder, dynamite, propane tanks, acetylene tanks and cutting torches. This is a danger of explosion.
The manual does not specify which truck models or bed lengths this chest box fits. Before purchasing, contact CURT Group at 877.287.8634 or consult your dealer to confirm fitment for your specific vehicle.
If your truck has a plastic, drop-in bed liner, it may need to be trimmed or cut for proper attachment of the chest box. The manual does not specify the extent of trimming required or whether removal is necessary.
You will need: a drill, 11/32" drill bit, 1/2" drill bit, ratchet, socket set, and tape measure. If the mounting hardware kit #003-CBOXMK is used, the 1/2" bit is required to enlarge holes in the truck bed.
You will need two 5/16" or M8 bolts, four washers, and two lock nuts. Alternatively, if you purchase the mounting hardware kit #003-CBOXMK, follow the instructions included with that kit.
Before drilling, check under your vehicle to ensure the drill location does not puncture, cut or obstruct any brake or fuel fluid lines, electrical wires, fuel tanks, or other components. Take precaution that all fasteners near the fuel tank do not create the possibility of fuel tank puncture or other damage during a collision.
Place the chest box in your desired location and check for proper lid operation. Select two mounting points in the bottom of the chest box that are aligned with the raised ribs in the truck bed. These ribs provide structural support for the mounting points.
Use an 11/32" drill bit to drill through the chest box and truck bed. If you are using the mounting hardware kit #003-CBOXMK, you will then enlarge the holes in the truck bed with a 1/2" drill bit and follow the instructions included with that kit.
Yes. Treat or seal all fasteners and exposed metal in any holes drilled in the vehicle to prevent corrosion. Use a silicone-type caulk as needed to fill in any open areas around the bolt flat washer or bonded washer inside the chest box to prevent water from seeping into the chest box.
Tighten 5/16" bolts to 7 ft-lbs. These are general guidelines. If you purchase hardware separately, use the torque specifications provided with that hardware.
Tighten M8 bolts to 7 ft-lbs. These are general guidelines. If you purchase hardware separately, use the torque specifications provided with that hardware.
Yes. This product can reduce the driver's ability to clearly see roadways, vehicular or pedestrian traffic and other objects through the rear and side windows of the vehicle, which may cause an accident. Extra precaution should be taken when driving a vehicle with this product.
Yes. Never exceed the vehicle manufacturer's recommended capacity. The manual does not specify the chest box weight capacity; refer to your vehicle's documentation or contact CURT Group at 877.287.8634 for details.
Ensure all knobs, bolts, screws, straps and locks are firmly secured. Check that the lid operates properly. Periodically re-tighten and inspect all components for signs of wear, corrosion and fatigue. With the chest box installed, periodic inspections should be performed to ensure all mounting hardware remains tight.
For polished, gloss and other smooth finishes, polish may be used to clear small scratches and scuffs. Mild automotive detergent may be used to clean the product. Do not use dish detergent, abrasive cleaners, abrasive pads, wire brushes or other similar products that may damage the finish.
Chest boxes come with adjustable strikers. If the strikers are ever out of alignment, simply loosen, adjust and re-tighten. Periodically lubricate the strikers and locks to ensure optimum performance.
The manual does not specify vehicle models or bed lengths. Contact CURT Group at 877.287.8634 or your dealer to confirm fitment for your specific truck.

Yes. You must drill through the chest box and truck bed using an 11/32" drill bit. If using hardware kit #003-CBOXMK, enlarge the truck bed holes with a 1/2" drill bit. Seal all drilled holes with silicone caulk to prevent corrosion and water seepage.
