Each UWS tool box is built from extra-thick aluminum welded into a single-piece tub. This provides the tool box with reliable strength and helps keep the interior sealed off from the elements. Aluminum construction also makes the box highly resistant to corrosion for long-lasting use. To add even more strength to the crossover truck tool box, the lid features our patented RigidCore foam-filled design. Layered between two sheets of aluminum, this core greatly increases the structural integrity of the lid to prevent bending and warping and to ensure smooth opening and closing. The lid is able to open to a full 90 degrees, providing better access to tools, equipment and other stored items. It also features self-opening struts to make it easy to open the box when your hands are full. This particular truck tool box features a low profile, meaning the lid is built lower than our standard lid. This provides a better view out the rear cab window and additional clearance for other items in the truck bed, if needed. To keep out moisture, dirt and even insects, the lid is also fitted with a MicroSeal gasket that seals off the inside of the tool box from the outside elements. UWS crossover truck tool boxes make it easy to keep your tools and other items organized, featuring a three-compartment sliding tool tray. The kit includes one crossover truck tool box, one divider tray (not included with all models), two rail pads, two 3-inch J-hooks, two 1/4" washers, and two 1/4" nuts. A key is also provided. Note that the divider tray may not be included depending on the model purchased.
You will need a ratchet, socket set, and tape measure. The installation is rated as Easy difficulty.
The tool box is designed to fit across truck bed rails. Before purchasing, verify that your truck has accessible bed rails and sufficient clearance between the open lid and the top and back of your cab. Consult your dealer if you have questions about fitment for your specific vehicle.
Place the tool box in the truck bed and open the lid. Check the clearance between the open lid and the top and back of the cab to ensure there is adequate space. Use a tape measure to verify the tool box is centered in the truck bed. If clearance is insufficient, the tool box may not be suitable for your vehicle.
1. Attach the adhesive side of the rail pads to the underside of the tool box ends. 2. Place the tool box with rail pads on top of the truck bed rails. 3. Center the tool box using a tape measure and verify lid clearance with the cab. 4. Place a J-hook under the lip of the bed rail on each side, inserting the threaded end up through the slot. 5. Attach each J-hook with a washer and nut, snugging but not fully tightening. 6. Re-measure to confirm centering and lid clearance. 7. Fully tighten all hardware. 8. Adjust strikers if needed and lubricate locks and strikers for optimal performance.
Use only one J-hook assembly on each side of the vehicle, for a total of two J-hooks. Each J-hook is placed under the lip of the bed rail with the threaded end inserted up through the slot.
The rail pads are adhesive-backed pads attached to the underside of the tool box ends. They sit on top of the truck bed rails to help position and stabilize the tool box during installation.
No. When first attaching the J-hooks with washers and nuts, snug the hardware but do not fully tighten. After re-measuring to confirm the tool box is centered and allows lid clearance, then fully tighten all hardware.
The torque specification for 1/4" bolts is 3 ft-lbs. This is a general guideline; if you purchase replacement hardware, use the torque specifications provided with that hardware.

The standard installation uses J-hooks placed under the bed rail lip without drilling. However, if drilling is required for your specific truck, check under your vehicle before drilling to ensure the drill location does not puncture, cut or obstruct any brake or fuel fluid lines, electrical wires, fuel tanks or other components. Treat or seal all fasteners and exposed metal in any holes drilled in the vehicle to prevent corrosion.
