UWS crossover truck tool boxes are the tried-and-true way of keeping your tools organized, on-hand and fully secure no matter where you and your truck roam. Each UWS tool box is built from extra-thick aluminum welded into a single-piece tub. This provides the tool box with reliable strength and helps keep the interior sealed off from the elements. Aluminum construction also makes the box highly resistant to corrosion for long-lasting use. To add even more strength to the crossover truck tool box, the lid features our patented RigidCore foam-filled design. Layered between two sheets of aluminum, this core greatly increases the structural integrity of the lid to prevent bending and warping and to ensure smooth opening and closing. The lid is able to open to a full 90 degrees, providing better access to tools, equipment and other stored items. It also features self-opening struts to make it easy to open the box when your hands are full. To keep out moisture, dirt and even insects, the lid is also fitted with a MicroSeal gasket that seals off the inside of the tool box from the outside elements. UWS crossover truck tool boxes make it easy to keep your tools and other items organized, featuring built-in screwdriver holders and a three-compartment sliding tool tray. The tool box itself is easy to install and is available in multiple sizes to provide the perfect for your truck and lifestyle. Like all UWS products, each crossover truck tool box is proudly assembled right here in the USA for style and long-lasting dependability (NOTE: This product is heavily packaged for parcel shipping).

UWS designs and builds heavy-duty truck tool boxes and storage for tradespeople and truck owners. The line covers crossover and side-mount boxes, chest boxes, underbody boxes, transfer tanks and dog boxes. Every aluminum box is designed, fabricated and welded in Perry, Florida, with construction aimed at job-site abuse, road vibration and daily use.
UWS is a leading manufacturer and designer of truck tool boxes and truck accessories, and a Lippert brand. The company's focus is narrow and deliberate: storage that stands up to being opened and slammed shut dozens of times a day, loaded past what looks reasonable, and left outdoors in whatever weather the job brings. Its customers are electricians, plumbers, contractors, farmers, outdoorsmen and truck owners who treat a pickup as a working tool rather than transport.
The catalog covers the full range of bed storage. Crossover boxes sit across the bed behind the cab in single-lid, gull-wing, secure-lock and low-profile styles, so there is a fit whether the priority is capacity, rear visibility or working under a tonneau. Side-mount boxes mount along the bed rails and keep the bed floor free for cargo, while underbody boxes tuck beneath the frame rails of service bodies and flatbeds.
Beyond the bed, UWS makes portable chest boxes that move between vehicles and the shop, transfer tanks and combination tank-and-toolbox units for crews working away from fuel supply, and insulated, ventilated dog boxes for hunters and handlers.
Manufacturing sits at the centre of the brand's identity. Every UWS aluminum tool box is designed, fabricated and welded in Perry, Florida, by tradespeople with decades of experience, and the company's Rooted in Trades initiative is built around that connection to skilled manual work. Boxes use heavy-gauge aluminum, continuous welds at the seams, weather stripping to seal against rain and dust, and locking systems intended to resist tampering. The practical result is storage that keeps tools dry, organized and where they were left.

The UWS Bright Aluminum 60" Angled Crossover Truck Tool Box (Heavy Packaging) EC10171 (Part #BHSGEC10171) fits 2004-2012 Chevrolet Colorado models. The 2026 model year is the last year covered by this part number. For newer models, check for an updated version.
The UWS Bright Aluminum 60" Angled Crossover Truck Tool Box (Heavy Packaging) EC10171 (Part #BHSGEC10171) Refer to the included instructions for installation details. Basic hand tools are typically all you need.
The kit includes one crossover truck tool box, one key, two rail pads, two 3-inch J-hooks, two 1/4" washers, and two 1/4" nuts. A divider tray is not included with all models. Check your specific package contents against the parts list.
The manual does not specify which truck models or bed lengths the EC10171 fits. Before purchasing, contact the manufacturer at 877-287-8634 or consult your vehicle's specifications to confirm compatibility with your truck bed rails and dimensions.
You must check clearance during installation. In Step 1, open the tool box lid and ensure there is clearance between the open lid, top and back of the cab before finalizing installation. If clearance is insufficient, the tool box may not be suitable for your truck configuration.
You will need a ratchet, socket set, and tape measure. These are the only tools listed as required for installation.
The manual does not explicitly state whether drilling is required for all installations. The tool box uses adhesive rail pads and J-hook fasteners that attach to existing bed rails. However, the manual warns to check under your truck before drilling to avoid puncturing brake lines, fuel lines, electrical wires or fuel tanks, suggesting drilling may be necessary in some cases. Confirm with the manufacturer whether your truck bed requires drilling.
Before installation, read all instructions thoroughly. Place the tool box in the truck bed and check clearance with the lid open. Using a tape measure, ensure the tool box is centered in the truck bed. Open the tool box lid and verify there is clearance between the open lid, top and back of the cab. If drilling is required, check under your vehicle to ensure the drill location does not puncture, cut or obstruct brake lines, fuel lines, electrical wires, fuel tanks or other components.
Attach the adhesive side of the rail pad to the underside of the tool box ends. Once adhered, place the tool box with the rail pads on top of the truck bed rails.
In Step 2, place a J-hook under the lip of the bed rail and insert the threaded end up through the slot. Use only one hole and J-hook assembly on each side. Attach with a washer and nut. Snug the hardware but do not fully tighten. After re-measuring to ensure the tool box is centered and allows lid clearance when open, fully tighten all hardware.
You should snug the hardware but not fully tighten initially so you can re-measure the tool box position to ensure it is centered and allows lid clearance when open. Once you confirm proper positioning, fully tighten all hardware.
Using a tape measure, measure from the sides of the truck bed to the tool box to ensure it is centered. This measurement should be performed before fully tightening the J-hook fasteners in Step 2, and again after snugging the hardware to confirm proper positioning.
According to the torque specifications table, a 1/4" bolt should be torqued to 3 ft-lbs. However, the manual notes that these are general guidelines. If you purchase replacement hardware, use the torque specifications provided with that hardware.
Do not use this product for storing or transporting flammables, explosives, hazardous materials or hazardous waste, such as containers of gasoline, solvents, gun powder, dynamite, propane tanks, acetylene tanks and cutting torches. Danger of explosion exists if these items are stored in the tool box.
Yes. The product can reduce the driver's ability to clearly see roadways, vehicular or pedestrian traffic and other objects through the rear and side windows of the vehicle, which may cause an accident. Extra precaution should be taken when driving a vehicle with this product installed.
Never exceed the vehicle manufacturer's recommended capacity. The manual does not specify the tool box's weight capacity; refer to your vehicle's documentation for maximum load limits.
Before drilling into your truck bed, check under your vehicle to ensure the drill location does not puncture, cut or obstruct any brake or fuel fluid lines, electrical wires, fuel tanks, etc. Precaution must be taken that all fasteners near the fuel tank do not create the possibility of fuel tank puncture or other damage during a collision.
After installation, ensure all knobs, bolts, screws, straps and locks are firmly secured. Periodically re-tighten and inspect all components for signs of wear, corrosion and fatigue. With the crossover tool box installed, periodic inspections should be performed to ensure all mounting hardware remains tight.
The manual does not specify a re-tightening interval. It states that periodic inspections should be performed to ensure all mounting hardware remains tight, and that you should ensure all knobs, bolts, screws, straps and locks are firmly secured before every trip. Contact the manufacturer at 877-287-8634 for a recommended re-tightening schedule.
For polished, gloss and other smooth finishes, polish may be used to clear small scratches and scuffs. Mild automotive detergent may be used to clean the product. Do not use dish detergent, abrasive cleaners, abrasive pads, wire brushes or other similar products that may damage the finish.
Periodically lubricate the strikers and locks to ensure optimum performance. If the strikers are ever out of alignment, simply loosen, adjust and re-tighten.
Treat or seal all fasteners and exposed metal in any holes drilled in the vehicle to prevent corrosion. This is especially important if drilling was required for your installation.
The manual does not specify vehicle compatibility. Contact the manufacturer at 877-287-8634 or check your truck's bed dimensions and rail type before purchasing.
