UWS wedge utility chest boxes provide unbeatable storage and security for your items in the bed of your truck and on the jobsite. Each box features a corrosion-resistant aluminum construction, a stainless steel locking system and a patented RigidCore foam-filled lid -- all to keep your equipment and valuables safe, well-organized and easily accessible whenever needed. This particular tool box features a wedged design to optimize storage space without obstructing other accessories in the truck bed, including the wheel wells. Each UWS truck tool box is constructed from extra-thick aluminum for increased structural strength. The tub is welded together into a single piece for weather resistance and to easily hold heavy tools and other items. The lid features a patented foam core, sandwiched between two aluminum plates. This core greatly increases the rigidity of the lid and helps prevent bending and warping, making operation very smooth. The locking mechanism of the UWS truck tool box provides excellent security for your items, featuring stainless steel, key-operated paddle handles. Stainless steel construction supplies the locks with long-lasting corrosion resistance, and they feature an internal connecting rod that allows the lid to be opened from either side of the truck. For solid protection against the elements, the lid also has a MicroSeal gasket, blocking moisture, dust and insects from getting inside and damaging your valuables. The lid also opens a full 90 degrees for easier access, and it is equipped with self-opening struts for convenient operation when your hands are full. UWS utility chest boxes are available in multiple sizes to accommodate any storage need. Like all UWS products, each one is proudly assembled right here in the USA for style and long-lasting dependability (NOTE: This product is heavily packaged for parcel shipping).

UWS designs and builds heavy-duty truck tool boxes and storage for tradespeople and truck owners. The line covers crossover and side-mount boxes, chest boxes, underbody boxes, transfer tanks and dog boxes. Every aluminum box is designed, fabricated and welded in Perry, Florida, with construction aimed at job-site abuse, road vibration and daily use.
UWS is a leading manufacturer and designer of truck tool boxes and truck accessories, and a Lippert brand. The company's focus is narrow and deliberate: storage that stands up to being opened and slammed shut dozens of times a day, loaded past what looks reasonable, and left outdoors in whatever weather the job brings. Its customers are electricians, plumbers, contractors, farmers, outdoorsmen and truck owners who treat a pickup as a working tool rather than transport.
The catalog covers the full range of bed storage. Crossover boxes sit across the bed behind the cab in single-lid, gull-wing, secure-lock and low-profile styles, so there is a fit whether the priority is capacity, rear visibility or working under a tonneau. Side-mount boxes mount along the bed rails and keep the bed floor free for cargo, while underbody boxes tuck beneath the frame rails of service bodies and flatbeds.
Beyond the bed, UWS makes portable chest boxes that move between vehicles and the shop, transfer tanks and combination tank-and-toolbox units for crews working away from fuel supply, and insulated, ventilated dog boxes for hunters and handlers.
Manufacturing sits at the centre of the brand's identity. Every UWS aluminum tool box is designed, fabricated and welded in Perry, Florida, by tradespeople with decades of experience, and the company's Rooted in Trades initiative is built around that connection to skilled manual work. Boxes use heavy-gauge aluminum, continuous welds at the seams, weather stripping to seal against rain and dust, and locking systems intended to resist tampering. The practical result is storage that keeps tools dry, organized and where they were left.

The package includes one utility chest box and two keys. A mounting hardware kit (part #003-CBOXMK) may or may not be included depending on the model. If the hardware kit is not included, you will need to purchase your own hardware: two 5/16" or M8 bolts, four washers and two lock nuts.
The manual does not specify which vehicle makes, models or years are compatible. It states the box mounts to truck beds using two mounting points aligned with the raised ribs in the bed. If your truck has a plastic drop-in bed liner, it may need to be trimmed or cut for proper attachment. Consult your dealer or the manufacturer to confirm fitment for your specific vehicle.
You will need: a drill, 11/32" drill bit, 1/2" drill bit, ratchet, socket set, tape measure, and level. The manual rates the installation difficulty as Easy.
The manual does not mention disconnecting the battery. However, it does warn that before drilling, you must check under the vehicle to ensure the drill location does not puncture, cut or obstruct any brake or fuel fluid lines, electrical wires, fuel tanks or other components.
Place the chest box in your desired location and check that the lid operates properly. Select two mounting points in the bottom of the chest box that are aligned with the raised ribs in the truck bed. These ribs provide structural support for the mounting points.
Yes. You must drill through the chest box and truck bed using an 11/32" drill bit at the two selected mounting points. If you are using the optional mounting hardware kit #003-CBOXMK, you will enlarge the holes in the truck bed with a 1/2" drill bit instead. Before drilling, you must check under the vehicle to ensure the drill location does not puncture, cut or obstruct any brake or fuel fluid lines, electrical wires, fuel tanks or other components.
If your truck has a plastic drop-in bed liner, it may need to be trimmed or cut for proper attachment of the chest box. The manual does not specify whether this is required for all liners or only some. Check the fit of the chest box and liner before drilling.
Treat or seal all fasteners and exposed metal in any holes drilled in the vehicle to prevent corrosion. The manual also recommends using a silicone-type caulk as needed to fill in any open areas around the bolt flat washer or bonded washer inside the chest box to prevent water from seeping in.
You will need two 5/16" or M8 bolts, four washers and two lock nuts. These fasteners secure the chest box through the bottom and truck bed. If you are using the optional mounting hardware kit #003-CBOXMK instead, follow the instructions included with that kit.
Tighten 5/16" bolts to 7 ft-lbs. This applies to the mounting bolts used to secure the chest box to the truck bed. The manual notes that these are general guidelines; if you purchase hardware separately, use the torque specifications provided with that hardware.
Tighten M8 bolts to 7 ft-lbs. This applies if you use metric M8 bolts instead of 5/16" bolts for mounting. The manual notes that these are general guidelines; if you purchase hardware separately, use the torque specifications provided with that hardware.
Do not use this product for storing or transporting flammables, explosives, hazardous materials or hazardous waste, such as containers of gasoline, solvents, gun powder, dynamite, propane tanks, acetylene tanks and cutting torches. Danger of explosion exists if these items are stored in the chest box.
Yes. This product can reduce the driver's ability to clearly see roadways, vehicular or pedestrian traffic and other objects through the rear and side windows of the vehicle, which may cause an accident. Extra precaution should be taken when driving a vehicle with this product installed.
Never exceed the vehicle manufacturer's recommended capacity. The manual does not specify a weight limit for the chest box itself; you must follow your truck's manufacturer guidelines for total bed load.
No. Do not interfere with factory-installed safety equipment. Before drilling, check under your vehicle to ensure the drill location does not puncture, cut or obstruct any brake or fuel fluid lines, electrical wires, fuel tanks or other components. Precaution must be taken that all fasteners near the fuel tank do not create the possibility of fuel tank puncture or other damage during a collision.
After installation, ensure all knobs, bolts, screws, straps and locks are firmly secured. Check that the lid operates properly. Periodically re-tighten and inspect all components for signs of wear, corrosion and fatigue. With the chest box installed, periodic inspections should be performed to ensure all mounting hardware remains tight.
For polished, gloss and other smooth finishes, polish may be used to clear small scratches and scuffs. Mild automotive detergent may be used to clean the product. Do not use dish detergent, abrasive cleaners, abrasive pads, wire brushes or other similar products that may damage the finish.
Ensure all knobs, bolts, screws, straps and locks are firmly secured before every trip. Periodically re-tighten and inspect all components for signs of wear, corrosion and fatigue. The manual does not specify an exact interval, but recommends regular periodic inspections to ensure all mounting hardware remains tight.
Periodically lubricate the strikers and locks to ensure optimum performance. If the strikers are ever out of alignment, simply loosen, adjust and re-tighten.
The manual does not specify compatible vehicle makes, models or years. It mounts to truck beds using two points aligned with the raised ribs. If you have a plastic drop-in bed liner, it may need trimming. Contact the manufacturer or your dealer to confirm fitment for your specific vehicle.
If the mounting hardware kit #003-CBOXMK is not included, you need two 5/16" or M8 bolts, four washers and two lock nuts. If using the hardware kit, follow its included instructions.
Tighten 5/16" or M8 bolts to 7 ft-lbs. If you purchase hardware separately, use the torque specifications provided with that hardware.
Use mild automotive detergent to clean; do not use dish detergent, abrasive cleaners, abrasive pads or wire brushes. For smooth finishes, polish may be used to clear small scratches. Periodically lubricate strikers and locks.
