Yes, the Curt 55560 is designed for Chevrolet Equinox and Pontiac Torrent vehicles in the SUV, Mini & Full-Sized Van category. The connector is installed in the driver side jack storage compartment and connects to the vehicle's 6-pin taillight wiring harness located at the floor of that compartment.
Yes, the Curt 55560 custom wiring connector is compatible with Pontiac Torrent vehicles. Installation follows the same procedure as the Chevrolet Equinox, accessing the 6-pin taillight wiring harness in the driver side jack storage compartment.
The Curt 55560 has a maximum rating of 3.0 amps per side for signal circuits and 6.0 amps total for tail and running circuits. Do not exceed this product rating or your tow vehicle's lamp load rating, whichever is lower. Exceeding the rating can cause loss of warranty, overheating and potential fire.
The manual lists 'TOOLS NEEDED' but does not specify which tools are required. Based on the installation steps, you will need a drill with a 3/32" bit (if drilling a new grounding point), a screwdriver, and possibly a test light for post-installation testing. Contact the manufacturer or your installer for a complete tool list.
The 6-pin vehicle taillight wiring connector is located inside the driver side jack storage compartment at the floor level. To access it, open the tailgate, locate the jack storage compartment on the driver side, remove the compartment cover panel and tire jack. The connector will be taped to the vehicle wiring harness.
Remove the tape from the vehicle's 6-pin connector in the jack compartment. Insert the custom wiring connector into the vehicle connector, ensuring it is fully inserted with the locking tabs in place. The connectors are designed to match, so they should fit together securely.
Locate a suitable grounding point near the connector, such as an existing screw with nut in the vehicle frame. If no suitable point exists, drill a 3/32" pilot hole for the provided screw. The area must be free of rust, dirt and paint. Secure the white ground wire using the ring terminal and provided screw.
Drilling is optional. You only need to drill a 3/32" pilot hole if no suitable existing grounding point (such as a screw with nut in the vehicle frame) is available near the connector. The area must be free of rust, dirt and paint before securing the ground wire.
Drill a 3/32" pilot hole for the provided ground screw. Before drilling, check for miscellaneous items that may be hidden behind or under any surface to avoid damage and personal injury.
Locate a flat spot inside the vehicle near the taillight and adhere the black converter box using the provided double-sided tape. The converter box should be mounted securely in a location that does not interfere with vehicle operation.
When in use, route the 4-flat to the center of the vehicle and out of the trunk. When not in use, roll up and store in a convenient, out-of-the-way location inside the trunk. Secure any loose wires with the provided cable ties to prevent tangling and damage.
Reinstall all items removed during installation, including the jack storage compartment cover panel and tire jack. Install the provided 4-flat dust cover to help prevent corrosion. Test the connector for proper function using a test light or by connecting a properly wired trailer.
The battery connection must be fuse-protected with a 10-amp maximum fuse. Do not exceed this rating. Exceeding the product rating can cause loss of warranty, overheating and potential fire.
