The hitch is designed for use with ball mount D-55001 / 45501, which requires hole enlargement and heat shield trimming. Euro mount options are available: part 45571 (1-7/8" ball) and part 45572 (2" ball).
The kit includes: 2 x 7/16-14 UNC Grade 8 carriage bolts (part 10-10282), 2 x 7/16-14 UNC Grade 8 serrated flange nuts (part 20-00103), 2 x 0.250 x 1.00 x 2.50" square hole spacers (part CM-SP11), 2 x 7/16" fishwire, 2 x 3/8-16 UNC Grade 5 serrated flange nuts (part 20-00099), and 1 x 3/8-16 x 1.00 x 1.88 U-bolt (part 3_8 - 16 x 1.00 x 1.88).
Required tools are: socket wrench, 10mm socket, 9/16" socket, 11/16" socket, torque wrench, die grinder or rotary tool, and aviation shears.
Yes. You must lower the exhaust by removing two rubber exhaust isolators for single exhaust vehicles or four isolators for dual exhaust vehicles. After hitch installation, the exhaust is raised and the isolators are reattached.
Yes. Remove heat shields by removing four screws per shield. Save the screws and shields for reinstallation after the hitch is mounted and trimmed.
If present, yes. Remove the underbody panel and trim, and save the panel and fasteners for reinstallation. The underbody panel is raised with the hitch during installation and must be resecured after the exhaust is reattached.
No drilling is required. However, the access holes in the frame rails may need to be enlarged with a die grinder or rotary tool to allow the fasteners to pass through. Check if hardware can be inserted through the access holes first; enlarge only if necessary.
Yes. After the hitch is raised into position, you must trim the heat shield(s) around the hitch using the heat shield trimming diagram provided. Reinstall the heat shields with the screws removed in Step 2.
Torque all 7/16" hardware to 70 lb-ft.
Torque all 3/8" hardware to 26 lb-ft.
The installed hitch position dimensions are: 4 3/4 in. (height from bottom), 10 in. (width), 12.75 in. (length), 1.00 in. (drop), 5.50 in. (setback), and 6.00 in. (overhang). Note: dimensions are approximate; confirm fit prior to trimming.
The gross load capacity when used as a weight carrying hitch is 2,000 lbs. trailer weight and 200 lbs. tongue weight. However, you must not exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity.
Non-trailer loads applied to this hitch must be supported by stabilizing straps (part 18050). Failure to properly support non-trailer loads will void the product warranty.
Periodically check the receiver hitch to ensure that all fasteners are tight and that all structural components are sound.
