The Curt 56136 includes a T-Connector harness with yellow and green wire ends, a black converter box, double-sided tape, a white ground wire with eyelet and screw, and a 4-flat connector.
You will need basic hand tools. If a suitable grounding point does not exist on the vehicle frame, you will also need a drill with a 3/32" bit to create one.
Open the hatch and remove the rear cargo area floor cover, the foam storage tray underneath it, and the rear scuff panel (held by two plastic fasteners). The taillight wiring harness is then accessible behind the rear access panel.
Locate the vehicle's taillight wiring harness behind the rear access panel on the driver's side. Separate the connectors carefully without damaging the locking tabs. Insert the T-Connector end with the yellow wire between the separated connectors, ensuring the connectors are fully inserted with locking tabs in place. Repeat on the passenger side using the T-Connector end with the green wire.
Locate a suitable grounding point near the connector, such as an existing screw with nut in the vehicle's frame. If no suitable point exists, drill a 3/32" hole and secure the white ground wire using the eyelet and screw provided.
Locate a flat spot on the vehicle frame and adhere the black converter box using the double-sided tape provided.
Route the 4-flat connector out from under the rear trim panel to the center of the vehicle when in use. When not in use, roll it up and store it in an out-of-the-way location.
Drilling is required only if a suitable grounding point does not already exist on the vehicle frame. If needed, drill a 3/32" hole for the ground wire. Before drilling, verify that no miscellaneous items are hidden behind or under the surface to avoid damage and personal injury.
