The Curt 56210 is a custom wiring connector that connects to the vehicle's 4-pin taillight wiring connectors. It is routed to the center of the vehicle and out of the trunk to provide a connection point for trailer wiring. When not in use, it can be rolled up and stored inside the trunk.
You need a 3/16" allen wrench. No other specialized tools are required for installation.

Open the vehicle trunk and remove all trunk floor coverings. Remove the two cargo fasteners on the driver side. Remove the rear scuff panel by pulling out on the bottom and then up, taking care not to damage the alignment tabs on the back. On the driver side only, partially remove the lower trim panel by carefully pulling outwards to locate the vehicle taillight wiring connectors. The 4-pin connectors are mounted on the bottom rear side-panel.
Insert the custom wiring connector end into the 4-pin vehicle connector. Make sure the connectors are fully inserted with locking tabs in place. The connectors will be similar in design to the custom wiring connector.
Route the 4-flat to the center of the vehicle and out of the trunk when in use. When not in use, roll it up and store it in a convenient, out-of-the-way location inside the trunk. Secure any loose wires with the provided cable ties.
Reinstall all items removed during installation. Install the provided 4-flat dust cover to help prevent corrosion. Test for proper function by using a test light or connecting a properly wired trailer.
Do not exceed the product rating or the tow vehicle lamp load rating, whichever is lower. Exceeding the product rating can cause loss of warranty, overheating and potential fire.
