Yes, CURT hitch 11077 is designed for the 2011 Honda CR-Z Hatchback. It is a weight-carrying hitch with a maximum trailer weight capacity of 1,000 lbs and tongue weight capacity of 100 lbs. Always verify that your vehicle's towing capacity meets or exceeds the load you intend to tow.
CURT hitch 11077 is designed for use with ball mount #D-20 / 45520. Euro mount options are also available: #45561 (1-7/8" ball) and #45562 (2" ball).
CURT hitch 11077 has a maximum trailer weight capacity of 1,000 lbs and a tongue weight capacity of 100 lbs when used as a weight-carrying hitch. You must never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity.
All non-trailer (wheel-less) loads applied to this hitch must be supported by CURT 18050 stabilizing straps. Failure to properly support non-trailer loads will void the product warranty. See the CURT catalog or visit www.curtmfg.com for further information on stabilizing straps.
Required tools include: ratchet, torque wrench, 6" extension, 3/4" socket, 11/16" socket, die grinder, rotary tool with cutoff wheel, flat head screwdriver, and Phillips head screwdriver. Safety glasses must be worn at all times during installation.
Two people may be required to ease installation. The manual rates this as a challenging installation, so professional installation is recommended if you are hesitant to undertake the task on your own. Contact an authorized CURT installer or call technical support at 877-287-8634 for assistance.
The first step is to lower the exhaust by removing the two rubber isolators located on the vehicle muffler. This must be done before removing the underbody panels.
Remove the underbody panels from the driver and passenger side rear corners. Each panel is held by three plastic clips and two screws. One clip holds the panel to the rear fascia, the next clip is attached to the frame rail, and the last clip is located in the wheel well. The first screw is located under the rear corner of the vehicle, and the other screw is on the outside of the wheel well. Save the hardware for reinstallation, but note that two clips will not be reused during panel reinstallation.
Yes. You must locate the large holes on the driver and passenger side frame rails and enlarge the front holes to allow the supplied 7/16" carriage bolts and CM-SP11 spacers to pass into the frame rails. A die grinder or rotary tool with cutoff wheel is required for this step.
Fishwiring is a technique used to thread the 7/16" carriage bolts and CM-SP11 spacers through the enlarged holes in the frame rails and out the rear holes. The supplied 7/16" fishwire is used to guide the hardware through the frame rails before the hitch is raised into position.
Raise the hitch into position against the vehicle tow loop. Install the supplied 1/2" carriage bolt (part 10-10272) through the mount attached to the hitch and through the tow loop. Secure it with the 1/2" hex flange nut (part 20-00062). Then install 7/16" hex flange nuts (part 20-00103) onto the carriage bolts that were fishwired into position through the frame rails.
Yes. Mark the underbody panels to trim off the section where the plastic clip attached the panel to the vehicle frame rail. Trim the panel as necessary to provide clearance around the hitch side plates. The hitch requires approximately 1.00 inch of clearance.
Torque the 7/16" hardware to 70 lb-ft and the 1/2" hardware to 110 lb-ft. A torque wrench is required to achieve these specifications.
After torquing all fasteners, reinstall the underbody panels in the reverse order that they were removed, and raise the exhaust back into position by reinstalling the two rubber isolators on the muffler.
Periodically check the receiver hitch to ensure that all fasteners are tight and that all structural components are sound. This ongoing inspection helps maintain the integrity and safety of the hitch.
The kit includes: one 1/2-13 UNC carriage bolt (10-10272), two 7/16-14 UNC carriage bolts (10-10281), two 7/16" serrated flange nuts (20-00103), one 1/2-13 UNC serrated flange nut (20-00062), two 0.250 x 1.00 x 2.50" square hole spacers (CM-SP11), and two 7/16" fishwires (7_16 FISHWIRE).
