The 12-16 Subaru Impreza Hatchback, excluding WRX and WRX STI CURT 4-flat Plug and Play Trailer Wiring (Part #CTW2277) fits 2012-2016 Subaru Impreza models. The 2016 model year is the last year covered by this part number. For newer models, check for an updated version.
The 12-16 Subaru Impreza Hatchback, excluding WRX and WRX STI CURT 4-flat Plug and Play Trailer Wiring (Part #CTW2277) fits the following vehicles: 2012-2016 Subaru Impreza. Always verify your specific year, make, and model before ordering.
The 12-16 Subaru Impreza Hatchback, excluding WRX and WRX STI CURT 4-flat Plug and Play Trailer Wiring (Part #CTW2277) Refer to the included instructions for installation details. Basic hand tools are typically all you need.
Part 56368 fits Subaru Impreza hatchback models, excluding WRX and WRX STI variants. If your vehicle is a WRX or WRX STI, this harness is not compatible. Verify your exact model before purchasing.
The harness is rated for Signal Circuits at 3.0 amps per side and Tail/Running Circuits at 6.0 amps total. The battery connection must be fuse-protected with a 10-amp maximum fuse. Do not exceed the product rating or your tow vehicle's lamp load rating, whichever is lower.
You will need: ratchet, 10mm socket, Phillips screwdriver, flat blade screwdriver, panel trim removal tool, wire crimper, cutting tool, and side cutter. A 3/32" drill bit is also required for drilling the ground point if a suitable existing screw is not available.
The harness includes the custom wiring harness with yellow and green wire ends, a black converter box, a white ground wire with ring terminal, a provided screw for grounding, double-sided tape for mounting the converter box, cable ties, sealant for the grommet, a 4-flat dust cover, and a CME-PCL-INS sheet with battery power wire routing instructions.
Yes. You must remove both the driver side and passenger side taillights by removing two 10mm fasteners on each side and gently pulling the taillight rearward and out. The custom harness is routed behind the taillights and inserted between the separated taillight connectors.
The harness end with the yellow wire is routed out through the grommet opening behind the driver side taillight. The harness end with the green wire is routed to the passenger side behind the removed scuff panel. Both ends are inserted between the separated taillight connectors. The 4-flat connector is routed to the center of the vehicle and out of the trunk when in use, then rolled up and stored inside the trunk when not in use.
Drilling may be required for the ground wire. You must locate a suitable grounding point near the connector, such as an existing screw with nut in the vehicle frame. If no suitable existing screw is available, you will need to drill a 3/32" pilot hole for the provided screw. The area must be free of rust, dirt, and paint. You must also cut a slit in the grommet behind the taillight to route the custom wiring harness through.
Drill a 3/32" pilot hole for the provided ground screw. This is only necessary if a suitable existing screw with nut in the vehicle frame is not available. The area must be free of rust, dirt, and paint before securing the white ground wire with the ring terminal.
Remove two 10mm fasteners securing each taillight (driver and passenger side). Remove push fasteners securing the storage trays. Remove fasteners securing the rear scuff panel. The manual does not specify torque values for reinstallation; refer to your vehicle owner's manual for proper torque specifications when reinstalling these components.
The battery connection must be fuse-protected with a 10-amp maximum fuse. Exceeding this rating can cause loss of warranty, overheating, and potential fire. Do not exceed the product rating or your tow vehicle's lamp load rating, whichever is lower.
Before drilling, check for miscellaneous items that may be hidden behind or under any surface to avoid damage and personal injury. This is especially important when drilling the 3/32" pilot hole for the ground screw.
Once installed, test for proper function by using a test light or connecting a properly wired trailer. All steps must be followed to ensure the wiring harness will function properly. The manual does not provide detailed testing procedures beyond this.
After routing the custom wiring harness through the grommet opening and inserting it between the separated connectors, reseat the grommet using the provided sealant to seal the cut in the grommet and around all the wires. This prevents water and debris from entering the vehicle.
Locate a flat spot inside the vehicle near the taillight and adhere the black converter box using the provided double-sided tape. The manual does not specify exact dimensions or clearance requirements for this location.
When not in use, roll up the 4-flat connector and store it in a convenient, out-of-the-way location inside the trunk. When in use, route it to the center of the vehicle and out of the trunk. Secure any loose wires with the provided cable ties.
Install the provided 4-flat dust cover to help prevent corrosion of the connector when not in use.
Yes, for standard Impreza hatchback models. It does not fit WRX or WRX STI variants.
