Whatever the next checkpoint is on your adventure -- whether it's getting your bike on the trail before sunrise or making it to the campground before dark -- CURT class 2 hitches let you Bring It with confidence. These receiver hitches are made to handle most light-duty towing applications and offer a custom fit for your vehicle. Typically used on full-size cars, crossovers, compact SUVs, minivans or even compact pickup trucks, a CURT class 2 trailer hitch complements the design of smaller vehicles. This particular class 2 hitch is made to be a custom hitch for certain years of the Hyundai Genesis (to verify vehicle compatibility, see application info). It offers a weight carrying capacity of 3,500 lbs. GTW and 350 lbs. TW. Class 2 trailer hitches can typically be used to tow a variety of lightweight trailers, such as a small utility trailer, small fishing boat trailer or popup camper (NOTE: Never exceed the lowest weight capacity of any towing component). They are also perfect for adding cargo space to your vehicle with a bike rack or cargo carrier. This class 2 hitch features a 1-1/4" receiver tube to accept a ball mount shank or other hitch-mounted accessory. For safety, it is tested in accordance with SAE J684. A custom trailer hitch design requires extra care, and as such, CURT class 2 hitches are engineered using real vehicles and hands-on research. We use high-strength steel, robotic welding and rigorous testing to produce hitches that are built to fit your lifestyle. To ensure that each hitch will be a reliable extension of your vehicle, we also finish our hitches in a co-curing of liquid A-coat and black powder coat, giving them long-lasting rust and wear resistance.
If your vehicle is not equipped with wiring for towing a trailer, CURT custom wiring is the ideal solution. A custom wiring harness -- also called a T-connector -- is a simple, plug-and-play electrical device that plugs into your automotive electric system and provides a standard, universal trailer wiring connection. This is done using two or more vehicle-specific, OEM-compatible connectors to plug into the taillight assembly, eliminating the need for cutting, splicing and soldering during installation. Custom wiring harnesses are made vehicle-specific, and while they are not available for all vehicles, they do offer one of the fastest, easiest and most secure ways to wire a vehicle for towing. This particular plug-in harness provides a 4-way flat connector socket and is designed to be a custom wiring harness to fit certain years of the Hyundai Genesis and G80 (to verify your vehicle compatibility, see application info). It comes with all necessary wiring components to establish a reliable trailer wiring connection, as well as a dust cover to keep the connector clean when not in use. You have a picture in mind of your next destination -- maybe it's the boat landing at your favorite fishing spot, maybe it's a campsite that overlooks one of nature's masterpieces, or maybe it's the next big jobsite. However, turning that picture into a reality takes more than just daydreaming. It takes a solid connection and the right amount of power. CURT custom wiring is made with some of the most sophisticated technology in the industry and is designed to install with ease, giving you a long-lasting electrical connection for your towing hitch setup.

The 15 - 16 Hyundai Genesis Excluding 5.0 Curt 1-1/4", Class 2 Trailer Tow Hitch + 4-flat Wiring Kit 12086 (Part #CHW-1827) Refer to the included instructions for installation details. Basic hand tools are typically all you need.
This hitch is designed for the Hyundai Genesis. The manual references 2012 models specifically in the exhaust removal procedure. To confirm fitment for your model year, contact Curt Manufacturing or consult a fitment database, as the manual does not specify the full range of compatible years.
The manual shows a gross load capacity of 3,500 lbs trailer weight and 350 lbs tongue weight when used as a weight-carrying hitch. However, you must not exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity, which may be lower. Check your vehicle's owner manual for the final limit.
You will need: a drill with 17/32" drill bit, a ratchet, 10mm and 19mm sockets, a 3/4" socket, a torque wrench, aviator shears, and a pencil or marker. A 2-person install is recommended.
The kit includes: four 1/2-13 UNC grade 8 bolts (part 10-10272), four 0.250 x 1.00 x 3.00" square hole spacers (CM-SP6), four 1/2-13 UNC grade 8 serrated flange nuts (20-00062), and two 1/2" fishwire pieces.
Yes. On 2012 models, you must remove two nuts with a 19mm socket in front of each muffler, remove four rear rubber exhaust isolators, and gently lower the exhaust. You must also remove six heat shield screws with a 10mm socket on both sides. The exhaust is reinstalled after the hitch is mounted.
Yes. You must drill four holes using a 17/32" drill bit for the 1/2" fasteners. The hitch is positioned and centered on the frame rails just after the frame angles downward, then marked and drilled.
Yes. The heat shields must be trimmed as shown in the diagram on the manual. Specifically, you must remove the rubber isolator from both shields using aviator shears. The modified shields are then reinstalled with the original fasteners.
All 1/2" fasteners must be torqued to 110 lb-ft.
1. Remove exhaust components and heat shields (2012 models). 2. Raise hitch into position, center and square it to frame rails just after the frame angles downward, then mark and drill four holes with a 17/32" bit. 3. Lower hitch and fishwire bolts and spacers into position. 4. Raise hitch back into position and install hex flange nuts; torque all 1/2" fasteners to 110 lb-ft. 5. Modify and reinstall heat shields, then raise and reinstall exhaust components.
After drilling the four holes and lowering the hitch, the fishwire bolts and spacers are lowered into position through the drilled holes. The fishwire is then used to guide the bolts and spacers into place before the hitch is raised back up and the hex flange nuts are installed and torqued.
Periodically check the receiver hitch to ensure that all fasteners are tight and that all structural components are sound. The manual does not specify a retorque interval or other maintenance procedures.
The hitch is designed for use with ball mount D-55001. A Euro mount option is available: part 45571 (1-7/8" ball) or part 45572 (2" ball).
Do not exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity. Although the hitch has a gross load capacity of 3,500 lbs trailer weight and 350 lbs tongue weight, your vehicle may have a lower limit. Always follow the vehicle manufacturer's specification.

Curt part 56264 is designed for Genesis G80 (2017 and later) and Hyundai Genesis (same as 2017 Genesis G80). If your vehicle is a different model year or make, this harness will not fit. Check your vehicle's year and model against the applications list before purchasing.
The custom wiring harness has a maximum rating of 3.0 amps per side for signal circuits and 6.0 amps total for tail and running circuits. Do not exceed these ratings or the tow vehicle lamp load rating, whichever is lower, as exceeding the product rating can cause loss of warranty, overheating and potential fire.
You will need: a ratchet, 10mm socket, panel trim removal tool, and Phillips screwdriver. The harness kit includes a screw, ring terminal, double-sided tape, cable ties, and a 4-flat dust cover.
Yes. You must disconnect the negative battery terminal before beginning installation. The battery is located on the passenger side under the floor cover in the trunk. Reconnect it only after all installation steps are complete and all items have been reinstalled.
1. Open trunk and remove floor coverings. 2. Disconnect negative battery terminal. 3. Remove scuff panel fasteners and cargo tie downs, then remove the scuff panel. 4. Remove push fasteners from felt trunk liner and Phillips screws and 10mm bolt from trunk floor cover. 5. Pull back felt liner and separate taillight wiring harness connectors. 6. Insert custom harness end with green wire between separated connectors. 7. Locate grounding point and secure white ground wire. 8. Route harness end with yellow wire to driver side and repeat steps 4–6. 9. Adhere black converter box inside vehicle near taillight using double-sided tape. 10. Route black power wire from battery (see included CME-PCL-INS sheet). 11. Route 4-flat to trunk center when in use; store rolled up when not in use. Secure loose wires with cable ties. 12. Reinstall all removed items, reconnect battery, and install 4-flat dust cover.
Locate the vehicle taillight wiring harness connectors inside the trunk behind the felt liner. Separate the connectors from the taillight housing, taking care not to damage the locking tabs. Insert the custom wiring harness end with the green wire between the separated connectors. Make sure the connectors are fully inserted with locking tabs in place. Repeat this process on the driver side using the harness end with the yellow wire.
You may be able to use an existing screw with nut in the vehicle frame as a grounding point. If no suitable existing point is available, you will need to drill a 3/32" pilot hole for the provided screw. Before drilling, check for miscellaneous items that may be hidden behind or under any surface to avoid damage and personal injury. The area should be free of rust, dirt and paint before securing the white ground wire using the ring terminal and provided screw.
Drill a 3/32" pilot hole for the provided ground wire screw. The hole should be located near the taillight connector in a flat spot inside the vehicle, and the area should be free of rust, dirt and paint before installation.
The battery connection must be fuse-protected with a maximum 10-amp fuse. Exceeding this fuse rating or the product's amperage rating (3.0 amps per side for signals, 6.0 amps total for tail/running) can cause loss of warranty, overheating and potential fire. Do not exceed the product rating or tow vehicle lamp load rating, whichever is lower.
Locate a flat spot inside the vehicle near the taillight and adhere the black converter box using the provided double-sided tape. The area should be clean and flat to ensure the tape adheres properly.
When in use, route the 4-flat to the center of the vehicle and out of the trunk. When not in use, roll it up and store it in a convenient, out-of-the-way location inside the trunk. Secure any loose wires with the provided cable ties. Install the provided 4-flat dust cover to help prevent corrosion.
All steps must be followed to ensure the wiring harness functions properly. Once installed, test for proper function by using a test light or connecting a properly wired trailer. Reconnect the negative battery terminal and reinstall all items removed during installation before testing.
The battery connection must be fuse-protected with a maximum 10-amp fuse. Exceeding this rating can cause loss of warranty, overheating and potential fire.
Remove the fasteners and cargo tie downs securing the scuff panel. Remove the scuff panel by pulling out on the bottom and then up, taking care not to damage the alignment tabs on the back. These tabs are important for proper reinstallation.
The vehicle battery is located on the passenger side under the floor cover in the trunk. Open the trunk, remove all trunk floor coverings, and locate the battery. Disconnect the negative battery terminal before beginning installation.
