The 15-20 Toyota Sienna CURT 4-flat Plug and Play Trailer Wiring (Part #CTW2435) fits the following vehicles: 2015-2020 Toyota Sienna. Always verify your specific year, make, and model before ordering.
The 15-20 Toyota Sienna CURT 4-flat Plug and Play Trailer Wiring (Part #CTW2435) Refer to the included instructions for installation details. Basic hand tools are typically all you need.
The Curt 56261 Custom Wiring Harness is designed for Toyota Sienna models, excluding the SE trim. If you have a Sienna SE or a different model, this harness is not compatible. Verify your vehicle model and trim before purchasing.
The Curt 56261 is a Custom Wiring Harness designed to provide trailer lighting connections for your vehicle. It includes signal circuits (3.0 amps per side) and tail/running circuits (6.0 amps total), allowing you to connect a trailer with a 4-flat connector. The harness integrates with your vehicle's existing taillight wiring.
You will need: a ratchet, 10mm socket, crimping tool, side cutter, wire stripper, and panel trim removal tool. These tools are required to disconnect the battery, remove fasteners, access the taillight assemblies, and prepare the wiring connections.
Yes, you must disconnect the negative battery terminal before beginning installation. This is the first step and is essential for safety when working with the vehicle's electrical system.
Follow these steps in order: (1) Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (2) Remove trunk floor coverings and storage trays. (3) Remove the rear scuff panel by removing three cargo hooks. (4) Remove the two 10mm bolts from the driver-side taillight assembly. (5) Separate the taillight wiring connectors. (6) Route the custom harness yellow and red wires through the opening and insert between the separated connectors. (7) Secure the ground wire to a suitable grounding point. (8) Adhere the converter box inside the vehicle. (9) Repeat steps 4–7 on the passenger side with the green wire. (10) Route the black power wire from the battery. (11) Route and secure the 4-flat connector. (12) Reinstall removed items and reconnect the battery.
Locate the vehicle's taillight wiring harness connectors behind the taillight. Separate the connectors from the taillight housing, taking care not to damage the locking tabs. Route the custom harness ends (yellow and red wires for driver side, green wire for passenger side) out through the opening in the rear trim panel and insert them between the separated connectors. Ensure the connectors are fully inserted with locking tabs in place.
Drilling is required only if a suitable grounding point is not available near the taillight connector. If you need to drill, create a 3/32" pilot hole in a flat area of the vehicle's frame. The area must be free of rust, dirt and paint. Before drilling, check for hidden items behind or under any surface to avoid damage and personal injury.
The taillight assembly is secured by two 10mm bolts on each side (driver and passenger). These bolts must be removed to access the taillight wiring connectors during installation.
The harness includes colour-coded wires for different functions: yellow and red wires connect to the driver-side taillight, green wire connects to the passenger-side taillight, white wire is the ground connection, and black wire connects to the vehicle battery. The 4-flat connector (when not in use) should be rolled up and stored in the trunk.
Locate a suitable grounding point near the taillight connector, such as an existing screw with nut in the vehicle's frame. If no suitable point exists, drill a 3/32" pilot hole. The area must be free of rust, dirt and paint. Secure the white ground wire using the ring terminal and the provided screw.
The battery connection must be fuse-protected with a maximum 10-amp fuse. Exceeding this rating can cause loss of warranty, overheating and potential fire. Do not exceed the product rating or the tow vehicle lamp load rating, whichever is lower.
Signal circuits are rated at 3.0 amps per side. Tail and running circuits are rated at 6.0 amps total. Do not exceed these ratings or the tow vehicle lamp load rating, whichever is lower, as this can cause loss of warranty, overheating and potential fire.
After installation is complete, test for proper function using a test light or by connecting a properly wired trailer. All steps must be followed to ensure the wiring harness functions properly. Verify that all lights operate correctly before towing.
Locate a flat spot inside the vehicle near the taillight and adhere the black converter box using the provided double-sided tape. This should be done after the taillight connectors are connected.
When in use, route the 4-flat connector to the center of the vehicle and out of the trunk. When not in use, roll it up and store it in a convenient, out-of-the-way location inside the trunk. Secure any loose wires with the provided cable ties to prevent tangling and damage.
Remove the three cargo hooks securing the rear scuff panel and pull the panel out at the bottom, then up. Take care not to damage the alignment tabs on the back. After routing the wiring harness, reinstall the scuff panel by reversing this process.
Remove all trunk floor coverings and storage trays to access the rear scuff panel and taillight wiring. These items must be removed to complete the installation.
Before drilling, check for miscellaneous items that may be hidden behind or under any surface to avoid damage and personal injury. The grounding area should be free of rust, dirt and paint before securing the ground wire.
After removing the two 10mm bolts and loosening the taillight by gently pulling it rearward and out, set the taillight aside. Keep it in a safe location during installation. After connecting the wiring harness, reinstall the taillight assembly by reversing the removal process.
Yes. After completing steps 4–7 on the driver side with the yellow and red wires, repeat the same steps on the passenger side using the harness end with the green wire. Both sides must be connected for the wiring harness to function properly.
