You do not need to fully remove the exhaust, but you must lower it temporarily. Use exhaust removal pliers to lower the exhaust down from the rubber isolator on the passenger side, and use a stand to keep the muffler from getting damaged. The exhaust is reinstalled after the hitch is mounted.
