Each custom-fit class 3 hitch package is made for vehicle-specific mounting. This particular kit fits certain years of the Kia Sportage (see application info to verify vehicle compatibility). It provides a weight carrying capacity of 3,500 lbs. GTW and 525 lbs. TW. CURT class 3 trailer hitches are typically used to attach and haul utility trailers, boat trailers, campers, snowmobile or ATV haulers and more (NOTE: Never exceed the lowest-rated towing component). Each class 3 hitch has a 2" receiver tube and is tested in accordance with SAE J684 for safety. A custom wiring harness -- also called a T-connector -- is a simple, plug-and-play electrical device that plugs into your automotive electric system and provides a standard, universal trailer wiring connection. This is done using two or more vehicle-specific, OEM-compatible connectors to plug into the taillight assembly, eliminating the need for cutting, splicing and soldering during installation. Custom wiring harnesses are made vehicle-specific, and while they are not available for all vehicles, they do offer one of the fastest, easiest and most secure ways to wire a vehicle for towing. This particular plug-in harness provides a 4-way flat connector socket and is designed to be a custom wiring harness to fit certain years of the Kia Sportage (to verify your vehicle compatibility, see application info). 1. Remove 3 plastic clips and pull panel covers downward on driver and passenger sides; retain hardware and panels. Note: white fasteners may pull off covers—unthread them from studs and reinsert into panel covers. 2. Lower exhaust by detaching 2 exhaust isolators. 3. Raise hitch into position and secure using M10 hardware and 7/16" conical toothed washers. 4. Torque M10 hardware to 48 lb-ft. 5. Raise exhaust back and reattach isolators. 6. Reinstall underbody panels.
Yes. The white fasteners that attach the panel covers to studs on the vehicle may pull off the covers during removal. Unthread these fasteners from the studs and reinsert them into their position on the panel covers before reinstalling the panels.
The exhaust must be temporarily lowered by detaching 2 exhaust isolators to allow the hitch to be raised into position. After the hitch is secured and torqued, the exhaust is raised back into position and the 2 exhaust isolators are reattached.

Open the tailgate and remove all trunk floor coverings. Remove the fasteners securing the rear scuff panel and pull it out at the bottom then up, taking care not to damage the alignment tabs. On the driver side, remove the fasteners and cargo tie down from the side trim panel and pull it back. Remove the two fasteners securing the taillight and gently pull it rearward to access the taillight wiring harness connectors.

You must cut slits in two grommets: one behind the taillight (Step 10) to route the custom wiring harness end with the 4-pin connector and red wire, and one in the floor pan (Step 13) to route the custom wiring harness end with the 12-pin connectors and yellow wire.
