Whatever your task at hand -- whether it's launching that boat before daybreak, setting up your camper before the rush or getting a final load to the dump before close -- CURT class 3 trailer hitches offer the strength needed for serious towing. They make it easy to hitch up and Bring It, offering a vehicle-specific fit and the weight capacity to handle a variety of trailers. Custom class 3 hitches are the most common type of receiver hitch for pickup trucks and SUVs. Because of their weight range, they are also found on full-size cars, crossovers and minivans. Each custom-fit class 3 hitch package is made for vehicle-specific mounting. This particular kit fits certain years of the Mercedes-Benz GLC300 (see application info to verify vehicle compatibility). It provides a weight carrying capacity of 6,000 lbs. GTW and 900 lbs. TW. CURT class 3 trailer hitches are typically used to attach and haul utility trailers, boat trailers, campers, snowmobile or ATV haulers and more (NOTE: Never exceed the lowest-rated towing component). Each class 3 hitch has a 2" receiver tube and is tested in accordance with SAE J684 for safety. To ensure that CURT class 3 receiver hitches have what it takes for serious trailering, they are designed using a hands-on approach and are constructed with rugged, high-strength steel and precise welding. We also protect our class 3 hitches in a co-cured finish of liquid A-coat and black powder coat for superior resistance to rust, chipping and UV damage.
Trailer hitch weight ratings are limited to vehicle manufacturer's stated capacities
Not compatible for use with vertical hanging bicycles (bike racks that require the bicycles to be hung / mounted vertically)

Yes, CURT part 13290 is designed for 2016-present Mercedes GLC 300 and GLC 43 AMG SUVs. The hitch is a weight-carrying style with a 6,000 lbs trailer weight capacity and 900 lbs tongue weight capacity. Always verify your vehicle's manufacturer towing capacity before towing.
The CURT 13290 is rated for a maximum trailer weight of 6,000 lbs and a tongue weight of 900 lbs. However, you must never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity, which may be lower than the hitch rating.
Never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity. The hitch itself is rated for 6,000 lbs trailer weight and 900 lbs tongue weight, but your vehicle may have a lower limit. Check your vehicle's owner manual for the maximum towing capacity.
CURT recommends the use of 18050 stabilizing straps for all non-trailer (wheel-less) loads. For more information about stabilizing straps, see the CURT catalog or visit www.curtmfg.com.
Required tools include: T40 Torx bit socket, E12 inverted Torx bit socket, 8mm socket, 10mm socket, 18mm socket, torque wrench, aviation shears, ratchet, 8-inch socket extension, and a pry tool. Safety glasses must be worn at all times during installation.
Two people may be required to ease installation. If you are hesitant to undertake this task on your own, CURT recommends contacting an authorized CURT installer for additional assistance. You can call technical support at 877.287.8634 for help.
Professional installation time is approximately 90 minutes. Installation is rated as moderate difficulty. Novice installation may take longer.
No drilling is required to install the CURT 13290. However, trimming of the heat shield is required: you must trim a 2.00" × 3.00" section using aviation shears. All dimensions are approximate; confirm fit prior to trimming.
Yes. Installation requires removing the exhaust tips (4 screws, 2 on each side, using T40 Torx bit socket) and lowering the exhaust by removing 3 rubber isolators. The exhaust is reinstalled in step 8 after the hitch is secured.
Yes. The bumper beam must be removed by removing M12 hardware using an 18mm socket. It is then reinstalled over the hitch and loosely secured with M12 hardware in step 6, then fully torqued in step 7.
Yes. The lower rear fascia must be removed by removing 6 screws (3 on each side) using a 10mm socket and 4 push pins (2 on each side) using a pry tool. Unclip electrical harnesses. Start by partially removing the rear wheel trim piece and gently pull the fascia away by releasing press-in tabs along the top. The fascia is reinstalled in step 8.
Yes. You must open the cargo area, lift and remove the rear floor panel, and remove 1 Torx screw from the threshold. Use a plastic pry tool to dislodge and remove the threshold. Then remove the floor pan to access and unplug 2 electrical sensor plugs on the passenger side of the rear trunk wall. Dislodge the grommet and push it to the rear/outside of the vehicle.
The heat shield must be trimmed 2.00" × 3.00" using aviation shears, measured from the center line of the vehicle as shown in the trim diagram. The heat shield is removed by removing 10 nuts using an 8mm socket. All dimensions are approximate; confirm fit prior to trimming. The trimmed heat shield is reinstalled in step 8.
All M12 hardware must be torqued to 55 ft-lbs. This is done in step 7 after the bumper beam is loosely secured over the hitch in step 6.
Installation sequence: (1) Remove exhaust tips using T40 Torx bit socket; (2) Lower exhaust by removing rubber isolators and access electrical sensors in cargo area; (3) Remove lower rear fascia using 10mm socket and pry tool; (4) Remove and trim heat shield using 8mm socket and aviation shears; (5) Remove bumper beam using 18mm socket; (6) Install hitch on vehicle frame using existing studs and loosely secure bumper beam with M12 hardware; (7) Torque all M12 hardware to 55 ft-lbs; (8) Reinstall all removed components in reverse order.
Yes. Removing the exhaust bracket from the bumper beam may ease installation. If you choose to do this, remove 2 screws (1 on each side) using an E12 inverted Torx bit socket. The bracket is reinstalled in step 8.
Periodically check the receiver hitch to ensure all fasteners are tight and all structural components are sound. This helps maintain safe operation and extends the life of the hitch.
