The hitch integrates with the vehicle's frame and provides a useful and dependable 1-1/4" x 1-1/4" receiver. The receiver is perfect for attaching the included ball mount and towing a small trailer, or for adding cargo space with a hitch-mounted cargo carrier, bike rack or other accessory. This particular class 1 hitch is rated for 1,500 pounds gross trailer weight and 150 pounds tongue weight (never exceed the lowest-rated towing component). The ball mount included with this trailer hitch quickly and easily installs into the hitch receiver and has a 3/4" trailer ball hole (trailer ball not included). It can be mounted in the rise or drop position to promote level towing. Like all CURT custom hitches, this class 1 hitch is protected with our co-cured finishing process. It is descaled for a smooth surface, immersed in liquid A-coat for rust resistance inside and out, covered with a durable black powder coat and finally co-cured for an industry-leading rust, chip and UV-resistant shield. No matter where you're headed or which season of the year you’re towing in, this CURT hitch is equipped for long-lasting resilience to the elements. It features an open-back receiver for easy cleaning, and it comes with all the hardware necessary for the installation.

Required tools are: ratchet, 10mm socket, 12mm socket, 13mm socket, 9/16" socket, 6" extension, screwdriver, torque wrench, die grinder, and safety glasses. A torque wrench is essential for tightening fasteners to specification.

No drilling is required. However, hole enlargement is required on the passenger side frame rail. The forward most hole on the passenger side frame rail must be enlarged to accommodate the fishwire and carriage bolt installation.
The forward most hole on the passenger side frame rail must be enlarged. The manual shows a 0.406" dimension in the trim diagram. A die grinder is required to perform this enlargement.
Underbody panel trimming is optional. If desired, trim the underbody panel using the contours of the hitch part as a guide, as shown in the trim diagram. This is not a required step for installation.
Tighten all 3/8" bolts to 37 ft-lbs. Tighten all M8 bolts to 23 ft-lbs. Use a torque wrench to ensure proper tightening. These specifications must be followed during installation.
The hitch includes: (2) M8 - 1.25 x 30 hex bolts, (2) 3/8" conical toothed washers, (2) 3/8-16 x 1 1/2 carriage bolts, (1) 3/8 - 16 x 1.00 x 1.88 u-bolt, (4) HFN3816 hex flange nuts, (2) 3/8" fishwires, and (2) 11449-SP spacers.
Two 11449-SP spacers are included and are used during the fishwire installation on the passenger side frame rail. Each spacer is threaded onto a 3/8" carriage bolt and fishwired through the enlarged hole in the passenger side frame rail.
Remove the plastic panel from the driver side by removing (2) M6 screws with a 10mm socket and (2) plastic clips. Lower the exposed canister by removing (4) M8 screws using a 12mm socket and (1) M6 screw using a 10mm socket. Then rotate the canister downward and remove (2) M10 screws using a 12mm socket to access the frame rail. Save all removed fasteners for reinstallation.
The hitch is positioned between the bracket removed in Step 1 and the driver side frame rail. It is loosely secured with the provided M8 bolts and conical tooth washers on the driver side. The remaining fasteners are secured using 3/8" flange nuts. After all fasteners are in place, tighten the 3/8" bolts to 37 ft-lbs and M8 bolts to 23 ft-lbs.
The u-bolt (3/8 - 16 x 1.00 x 1.88) is placed into position in the vehicle's existing recovery loop as part of the hitch mounting assembly.
Safety glasses must be worn at all times while installing this product. Read all instructions thoroughly before beginning installation. Use proper tools to improve installation quality and reduce time required.
All non-trailer loads applied to this hitch must be supported by CURT 18050 stabilizing straps. Failure to properly support non-trailer loads will void the product warranty. CURT recommends the use of 18050 stabilizing straps for all non-trailer (wheel-less) loads.
Periodically check the receiver hitch to ensure all fasteners are tight and all structural components are sound. This ongoing maintenance is essential for safe operation.
The CURT 11449 is designed for use with ball mount #45521. Euro mount options are also available: #45571 (1 7/8" ball) and #45572 (2" ball).
