This class 1 trailer hitch and ball mount combination is designed for a custom fit on select years of the Subaru Impreza (see application info to verify fitment). The hitch integrates with the vehicle's frame and provides a useful and dependable 1-1/4" x 1-1/4" receiver. The receiver is perfect for attaching the included ball mount and towing a small trailer, or for adding cargo space with a hitch-mounted cargo carrier, bike rack or other accessory. This particular class 1 hitch is rated for 2,000 pounds gross trailer weight and 200 pounds tongue weight (never exceed the lowest-rated towing component). The ball mount included with this trailer hitch quickly and easily installs into the hitch receiver and has a 3/4" trailer ball hole (trailer ball not included). It can be mounted in the rise or drop position to promote level towing. Like all CURT custom hitches, this class 1 hitch is protected with our co-cured finishing process. It is descaled for a smooth surface, immersed in liquid A-coat for rust resistance inside and out, covered with a durable black powder coat and finally co-cured for an industry-leading rust, chip and UV-resistant shield. No matter where you're headed or which season of the year you’re towing in, this CURT hitch is equipped for long-lasting resilience to the elements. It features an open-back receiver for easy cleaning, and it comes with all the hardware necessary for the installation.

The hitch is designed for use with CURT ballmount #45521. Euro mount options are available: #45571 (1 7/8" ball) or #45572 (2" ball).
Required tools are: 3/4" socket, 10mm socket, ratchet, torque wrench, die grinder, aviator shears, and safety glasses. A 1/2" fishwire is also needed to route hardware through frame access holes.

Yes. You must lower the exhaust by removing 3 rear rubber isolators. You must support the exhaust as required during this process. If needed to access outside hangers, remove the plastic underbody panel by removing 7 plastic fasteners. The exhaust is reinstalled after the hitch is mounted.
Yes. You must cut 2 holes in the heat shield as shown in the diagram (trim 1" hole on dimple on "R↑" and "M"). You must also enlarge the access holes on both sides of the frame rail to allow 1/2" fasteners to pass through. These modifications are permanent.
Fishwire is used to route the 1/2" hardware (carriage bolts and spacers) through the access holes in the frame rails into position on both sides before raising the hitch into place. Six pieces of 1/2" fishwire are included with the hitch.
Remove the heat shield by removing 4 small screws with a 10mm socket. Cut 2 holes in it as shown in the diagram. After fishwiring the hardware into position, reinstall the heat shield with 3 of the fasteners, but do not use the fastener between the hitch mounting holes. The heat shield will sit between the hitch and vehicle frame rails.
All 1/2" fasteners (carriage bolts and hex flange nuts) must be torqued to 110 lb-ft. This is done after raising the hitch into position and loosely installing the nuts.
The hitch includes: 6 carriage bolts (1/2-13 x 1 1/2), 6 square hole spacers (.250 x 1.00 x 3.00", part number CM-SP6), 6 hex flange nuts (HFN 1213), and 6 pieces of 1/2" fishwire.
Safety glasses must be worn at all times while installing this product. Before beginning installation, read all instructions thoroughly. Support the exhaust as required when lowering it. Using proper tools will greatly improve the quality of the install and reduce the time required.
All non-trailer (wheel-less) loads applied to this hitch must be supported by CURT 18050 stabilizing straps. Failure to properly support non-trailer loads will void the product warranty. CURT recommends the use of 18050 stabilizing straps for all non-trailer loads.
Periodically check the receiver hitch to ensure all fasteners are tight and all structural components are sound. This ongoing inspection helps maintain the integrity and safety of the installation.
