Required tools are: ratchet, cut-off wheel, torque wrench, die grinder, 10mm socket, rotary tool, 3/4" socket, tape measure, 10" socket extension, tape, and flathead screwdriver. A tools reference guide is available at curtmfg.com/trailer-hitch-installation.

Yes. You must temporarily remove both the driver-side and passenger-side underbody panels. The driver-side panel is secured with five plastic push fasteners and one plastic nut (removed with a 10mm socket and extension), plus three retained nuts that must be loosened while pulling down the panel. Repeat the same process on the passenger-side panel.
Yes, temporarily. Disconnect the electrical connector and remove the nut with a 10mm socket. The backup alarm is reinstalled after the hitch is mounted, following the reverse of steps 1 through 3.
No drilling is required. However, the installation does require hole enlargement of the bottom access hole in the frame rail and trimming of the lower bumper fascia. The bumper trim diagram shows cuts of 4-1/2" and 3-1/4".
The lower bumper fascia must be trimmed. The trim diagram shows cuts of 4-1/2" and 3-1/4". Use the diagram as reference when trimming with a cut-off wheel or rotary tool.
The fishwire technique guides the 1/2" carriage bolts and square-hole spacers through the frame rail access hole and into the hitch mounting holes. The coiled end of the fishwire is threaded through the spacer and bolt, then pulled through the frame to guide the hitch during mounting and prevent loss of hardware inside the frame rail.
1. Remove driver-side and passenger-side underbody panels. 2. Remove stickers covering frame rail holes and rubber plugs; enlarge bottom access hole. 3. Temporarily remove backup alarm. 4. Trim bumper cover using the trim diagram. 5. Fishwire carriage bolts and spacers through the enlarged access hole. 6. Raise hitch into position, sliding center through cutout and main body behind bumper cover; guide fishwires through side plate holes and rotate side plates into position. 7. Pull hardware through hitch, remove fishwires, and secure with serrated-flange nuts. Torque to 90 ft-lbs. 8. Reinstall removed parts in reverse order.
Torque the 1/2" carriage bolts and serrated-flange nuts to 90 ft-lbs.
Safety glasses must be worn at all times during installation. Never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity. The product is not intended for towing use.

The manual specifies that periodic inspection should be performed to ensure all mounting hardware remains tight and structural components are secure, but does not define a specific inspection interval. Contact CURT product support at 877.287.8634 for recommended inspection frequency.
