Whether you are an avid mountain biker or a casual rider, you will want CURT along for the ride. CURT bike racks offer both versatility and quality and are available in several different styles to fit your needs. CURT standard hitch-mounted bike racks are anything but average. They feature an adjustable shank to fit either a 1-1/4" or 2" receiver and allow use on most trailer hitch classes. Our standard bike racks also come with several useful features, including an anti-wobble shank to reduce noise and keep bikes more secure, and a compact design for easy storage. They feature adjustable arms to accommodate various bike heights and styles, and the arms can be folded down, when not in use, to remain out of the way. The tilt-down design built into our standard bike racks allows you easier access to the rear of your vehicle whenever necessary. This particular CURT standard bike rack has an extendable design, allowing it to be used as a 2-bike model or 4-bike model. It features a maximum load limit of 90 lbs. or 180 lbs., depending on the configuration. To protect it against the elements and the trail ahead, this bike rack comes with a durable black powder coat finish.

The model number is 18030. This is a hitch-mounted bike rack designed for vehicle receiver tubes.
The 18030 comes with a 1 1/4" shank. To fit a 2" receiver tube, you must assemble the U-type adapter (#5) onto the 1 1/4" shank, aligning the holes and securing with the provided 1/2" hex head bolt, flat washer, star washer and clip.
No. The manual explicitly states: "Do not install on a trailer or other towed vehicle." This product is designed only for vehicle receiver hitches, not for trailers.
No. The manual states: "This product is not intended for off-road use, tandems or recumbents." The rack is designed for standard upright bicycles only.
The following tools are included: one 13mm wrench, one 19mm wrench, one 5mm Allen wrench, and one 8mm Allen wrench. These are used during assembly and installation.
The kit includes: one arm post, one connecting post, two arm extensions, one 1 1/4" shank, one U-type plastic 2" shank adapter, two adapter set screws, 12 rubber arm straps, one hex head bolt kit (bolt, two washers, nut), two bolt kits with one washer and nut each, two carriage bolt kits with one washer and nut each, one anti-rattle bolt and clip, one clip, one support strap buckle, and one support strap cinch.
Yes, if your vehicle has a 1 1/4" receiver tube. The manual states: "Any bike rack with a 1 1/4" shank requires the use of a support strap (CURT #18050). Failure to use a support strap will void the warranty of the trailer hitch and bike rack." The support strap is not included in the kit.
Follow these steps: (1) Bolt the arm extensions (#3) to the arm post (#1) using carriage bolt kits (#10), raise the arms to the outright position and secure with the attached lynch pin. (2) Connect the arm post (#1) and connecting post (#2) using bolt kit (#9). (3) Using the hex head bolt kit (#8), attach the bottom of the connecting post (#2) to the shank (#4) at the bottom hole, then insert the bolt through the top hole of the shank and secure with the provided clip (#12).
Insert the bike rack shank into the vehicle receiver tube. Secure it with a 1/2" hex head bolt, flat washer, star washer and clip (#11). The anti-rattle bolt and clip (#11) are provided for this purpose.
Loop the support strap (#14) to the center section of the bike rack where the arms connect to the bike rack post. Hook the strap buckle (#13) to the back of the tow vehicle. Cinch the strap until there is no bounce in the rack, then secure the extra strap length.
Install the bikes on the rack and secure them with the provided rubber bike arm straps (#7). Be sure to secure both the cross post and seat post to the rack. When towing more than one bike, alternate the directions the bikes face: first bike faces right, second bike faces left, and so on.
At the base, remove the clip from the upper bolt holding the bike rack in the vertical position. Remove the bolt and tilt the rack away from the vehicle. At the top, pull the lynch pin that secures the arms in the outward position. Fold the bike rack arms down to the transport position and replace the lynch pin. This allows access to the rear cargo area.
Never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity. The bike rack adds weight to your vehicle, and exceeding the towing capacity can compromise safety and void warranties.
Check the tightness of all bolts periodically. Check the rubber arm straps (#7) for wear and replace them if worn. Inspect the support strap for damage before each use.
Yes, with the included U-type adapter (#5). Assemble the adapter onto the 1 1/4" shank, align the holes, and secure with the provided bolt, washer and clip.
No. A support strap (CURT #18050) is required for 1 1/4" receiver tubes but is sold separately. Using a support strap is mandatory or the warranty is voided.
All necessary tools are included: 13mm wrench, 19mm wrench, 5mm Allen wrench, and 8mm Allen wrench. No additional tools are required for assembly and installation.
Yes. Remove the upper bolt and tilt the rack away from the vehicle, then fold the arms down to the transport position using the lynch pin. This provides access to the rear cargo area.
No. The product is not intended for off-road use, tandems, or recumbents. It is designed for standard upright bicycles only.
Check the tightness of all bolts periodically and inspect the rubber arm straps for wear. Replace straps if worn. Check the support strap for damage before each use.
