Call 888-634-9494The Curt 18065 fits any tow vehicle equipped with a 2" receiver tube hitch. Check your vehicle's hitch to confirm it has a 2" receiver tube opening before purchasing. The rack is not compatible with trailers or other towed vehicles.
No. The manual explicitly states: "Do not install on a trailer or other towed vehicle." The Curt 18065 is designed only for tow vehicles with a 2" receiver hitch.
No. The manual states: "This product is not intended for off-road use, tandems or recumbents." The rack is designed for standard upright bicycles only.
The kit includes: 1 arm post, 1 shank (2"), 15 rubber arm straps, 1 hex head bolt kit (bolt, two washers, nut), 1 anti-rattle bolt and clip, 1 clip, 1 Allen wrench (8mm), and 1 wrench (19mm).
The necessary tools are included: an 8mm Allen wrench and a 19mm wrench. No additional tools are required for basic installation.
Assembly has two main steps: (1) Raise the arms on the arm post to the outright position and secure with the attached lynch pin. (2) Using the hex head bolt kit, attach the bottom of the arm post to the shank, installing the bolt in the bottom hole. Insert the bolt connected to the main body through the top hole of the shank and secure with the provided clip.
Insert the bike rack shank into your vehicle's receiver tube. Secure it with the 1/2" hex head bolt, flat washer, star washer, and clip provided. The rack is now ready to receive bikes.
Install the bikes on the rack and secure them with the provided rubber bike arm straps. Be sure to secure both the cross post and seat post to the rack. When loading more than one bike, alternate the directions the bikes face: first bike faces right, second bike faces left, and so on.
To fold the rack: (1) At the base, remove the clip from the upper bolt holding the rack in the vertical position, then remove the bolt and tilt the rack away from the vehicle. (2) At the top, pull the lynch pin that secures the arms in the outward position. (3) Fold the bike rack arms down to the transport position and replace the lynch pin. This allows access to your rear cargo area.
The manual does not specify a weight capacity or maximum number of bikes. You must never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity. Consult your vehicle's owner manual and the Curt 18065 product specifications for capacity details.
Before each use, check the rubber arm straps for wear and replace them if damaged. Periodically check the tightness of all bolts and tighten as needed. Ensure bikes are securely fastened with the arm straps before towing.
The manual states: "Check tightness of all bolts periodically." No specific interval is given. It is recommended to check bolt tightness before each use and after long trips to ensure the rack remains secure.
The manual states that straps should be checked for wear and replaced if worn, but does not provide replacement instructions. Contact Curt Manufacturing at 1.877.287.8634 or visit CURTMFG.COM for replacement strap part numbers and installation guidance.
