Call 888-634-9494The kit includes one bike rack, one collapsing knob, and six rubber arm straps. The bike rack clamps onto a ball mount shank and features adjustable arm posts and clamps for securing bikes.
No. The manual explicitly states: 'Do not install on a trailer or other towed vehicle.' The 18013 is designed for installation on a vehicle hitch ball mount only.
The 18013 is designed for standard bikes only. The manual states it is 'not intended for off-road use, tandems or recumbents.' Do not use it with tandem bikes or recumbent bikes.
Yes. The manual warns: 'NEVER EXCEED YOUR VEHICLE MANUFACTURER'S RECOMMENDED TOWING CAPACITY.' Verify your vehicle's towing capacity before installation and ensure the loaded bike rack does not exceed it.
Insert the collapsing knob (#2) into the corresponding hole on the bike rack and turn it clockwise to unlock the arm posts. Leave the knob in place until you are ready to store the rack again.
Raise the arm posts to the upright position after unlocking them with the collapsing knob. This is the correct position for assembly and installation.
Adjust the bike clamps to the correct position for accepting bike frames. The manual references Figure 3 for the proper clamp positioning. After adjustment, insert the attached pin to lock the arm post in place before installation.
Securely clamp the bottom of the bike rack onto the shank of the ball mount. The rack uses a clamp mechanism to grip the ball mount shank.
The traveling position is the spread position. To achieve it, loosen the collapsing knob (#2), use the release handle to push down and spread the bike rack arms into the traveling position, then lock the collapsing knob back into place.
Loop the straps onto each bike rack arm and cinch them back to the connection point at the hatch. Secure any extra strap length to prevent it from moving during travel.
Install the bikes on the rack and secure them with the provided rubber arm straps (#3). Be sure to secure both the cross post and seat post of each bike to the rack to prevent movement during travel.
Alternate the directions the bikes are facing on the rack. The first bike should face right, the second bike should face left, and so on. This arrangement helps balance the load and prevents interference between bikes.
Check the tightness of all bolts and knobs periodically to ensure they remain secure. Check the rubber arm straps (#3) for wear and replace them if they show signs of damage or deterioration.
Check the rubber arm straps for wear before each use. If any straps show signs of wear or damage, replace them before installing bikes on the rack.
The 18013 clamps onto a ball mount shank and is designed for vehicle hitch use only. Verify your vehicle's towing capacity before installation and do not exceed the manufacturer's recommended limit.
Check the tightness of all bolts and knobs periodically. The manual does not specify an exact interval, so inspect them before each use or at least monthly.
