The CURT 18410 is designed for vehicles with receiver hitches. It is compatible with 1-1/4" and larger receiver hitches. If you have a 1-1/4" receiver, a support strap (sold separately) is required. Verify your vehicle has a receiver hitch before purchasing.
The CURT 18410 has a weight carrying capacity of 45 lbs. for 1 bike and 90 lbs. for 2 bikes. Never exceed these limits or your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity.
You will need a torque wrench and a 3/4" socket. These are the only tools specified as required for installation.
A support strap is required if you are using the rack with a 1-1/4" receiver hitch. It is sold separately. Failure to use a support strap with a 1-1/4" receiver will void the warranty and could result in injury or property damage. Support straps are not required for larger receiver hitches.
The anti-rattle bolt (#3) should be tightened firmly until no movement of the shank is noticed, not to exceed 64 ft-lbs. Do not over-tighten.
No. Do not transport the bike rack in the tilted position. The tilted position is only for rear vehicle access when the vehicle is stationary.
The CURT 18410 includes: 1 ActiveLink bike rack assembly, 1 ActiveLink shank assembly, 1 anti-rattle bolt (1/2"-13), 1 flat washer (1/2"), 1 lock washer (1/2"), 1 hair pin clip, 1 anti-rattle handwheel, and 4 hook and loop straps. A support strap for 1-1/4" receivers is sold separately.
Read all instructions thoroughly before beginning. Ensure you have the proper tools (torque wrench and 3/4" socket) to improve installation quality and reduce time. Verify your vehicle has a receiver hitch and determine the hitch size (1-1/4" or larger). If you have a 1-1/4" receiver, obtain the support strap (sold separately) before installation.
Insert the ActiveLink shank (#2) into the vehicle receiver tube. Secure it with the anti-rattle bolt (#3), flat washer (#4), and lock washer (#5). Tighten the bolt firmly until no movement of the shank is noticed, not to exceed 64 ft-lbs. Do not over-tighten. Then install the hair pin clip (#6).
First, remove the clevis pin from the ActiveLink shank's channel. Insert the ActiveLink rack assembly into the ActiveLink shank, resting the tube's notch on the bolt and sliding the latch into the shank's notch. Then insert the clevis pin into the shank, snapping the wire loop onto the pin. Finally, thread the anti-rattle handwheel into the shank and tighten until no movement of the rack's support tube is noticed. Do not over-tighten the handwheel as this may damage the shank's insert.
Remove the clevis pin from the ActiveLink rack assembly. Rotate the rack's arm assembly upward, aligning the holes in the plate with those in the square tube. Re-insert the clevis pin.
Adjust the frame cradles to your desired positions. Position the bike frame onto the cradles. Pass the hook and loop strap through the opening in each cradle, pass the strap over the bike frame, thread it through the strap's ring, and secure. Repeat for additional bikes if desired. The rack can hold up to 2 bikes with a maximum weight capacity of 90 lbs.
First, undo the support strap if you installed one. Loosen the anti-rattle handwheel and remove the clevis pin from the shank. While supporting the rack, push upward on the latch release lever and allow the rack to rotate downward. A tab on the underside of the shank will engage with the bike rack's tube to prevent disconnection. Do not transport the bike rack in the tilted position.
Rotate the rack upward until the latch snaps over the ActiveLink shank's slot. Re-insert the clevis pin, tighten the handwheel, and re-install the support strap if you previously installed one.
Yes. The ActiveLink rack's arm assembly can be folded for transport or storage. A convenient handle is provided for tilting, carrying, and storage, and can also be used as a cable lock secure point.
Remove the CURT 18410 before entering an automatic car wash. The rack is not designed to withstand the forces and water spray of automatic car washes.
No. The CURT 18410 is not designed for off-road use. It is intended for on-road use only.
No. Do not install this product on a trailer or towed vehicle. It is designed only for installation on the towing vehicle itself.
When transporting heavier bikes such as e-bikes and tilting the rack for rear vehicle access is necessary, a team lift may be required to prevent injury and/or product damage. Always be mindful of the rack extending beyond your vehicle when operating.
Periodic inspection of your product should be performed to ensure all hardware and components remain secure. Check that the anti-rattle bolt, handwheel, clevis pin, and all fasteners are tight and functioning properly.
The CURT 18410 is rated as "Easy" for installation difficulty. This rating is based on time and effort involved and may vary depending on the installer's level of expertise, the condition of the vehicle, and having proper tools and equipment.
