The CURT 18411 is designed for vehicles with receiver hitches. The manual confirms it works with 1-1/4" receivers and larger. If your vehicle has a receiver hitch, this rack will fit. Verify your hitch size before purchase.
A support strap is required if you have a 1-1/4" receiver hitch. The support strap is sold separately. Failure to use it with a 1-1/4" receiver will void the warranty and may cause injury or property damage.
You need a torque wrench and a 3/4" socket. These are the only tools listed as required in the manual.
Tighten the anti-rattle bolt (#3) firmly until no movement of the shank is noticed, not to exceed 64 ft-lbs. Do not over-tighten.
The weight carrying capacity depends on the number of bikes: 1 bike = 45 lbs, 2 bikes = 90 lbs, 3 bikes = 135 lbs, 4 bikes = 180 lbs. Never exceed the product's weight capacity or your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity.
The package includes: 1 ActiveLink bike rack, 1 ActiveLink shank assembly, 1 anti-rattle bolt (1/2"-13), 1 flat washer (1/2"), 1 lock washer (1/2"), 1 hair pin clip, 1 anti-rattle handwheel, and 8 hook and loop straps. The support strap required for 1-1/4" receivers is sold separately.
The manual rates this product as "Easy" difficulty based on time and effort involved. Installation difficulty may vary depending on your expertise, vehicle condition, and access to proper tools. No professional installation is explicitly required, but you will need a torque wrench and 3/4" socket.
Insert the ActiveLink shank (#2) into your vehicle's receiver tube. Secure it with the anti-rattle bolt (#3), flat washer (#4), and lock washer (#5). Tighten the bolt firmly until no movement of the shank is noticed, not to exceed 64 ft-lbs. Do not over-tighten. Then install the hair pin clip (#6).
Remove the clevis pin from the ActiveLink shank's channel. Insert the ActiveLink rack assembly (#1) into the shank (#2), resting the tube's notch on the bolt and sliding the latch into the shank's notch. Insert the clevis pin into the shank, snapping the wire loop onto the pin. Thread the anti-rattle handwheel (#7) into the shank and tighten until no movement of the rack's support tube is noticed. Do not over-tighten the handwheel as it may damage the shank's insert.
Remove the clevis pin from the ActiveLink rack assembly (#1). Rotate the rack's arm assembly upward, aligning the holes in the plate with those in the square tube. Re-insert the clevis pin.
Adjust the frame cradles to your desired positions. Position the bike frame onto the cradles. Pass the hook and loop strap (#8) through the opening in each cradle, over the bike frame, through the strap's ring, and secure. Repeat for additional bikes if desired.
First, undo the support strap if you installed one. Loosen the anti-rattle handwheel (#7) and remove the clevis pin from the shank. While supporting the rack, push upward on the latch release lever and allow the rack to rotate downward. A tab on the underside of the ActiveLink shank (#2) will engage with the bike rack's tube to prevent disconnection. Do not transport the bike rack in the tilted position.
Rotate the rack upward until the latch snaps over the ActiveLink shank's (#2) slot. Re-insert the clevis pin and tighten the handwheel. Re-install the support strap if you previously installed one.
Yes. The ActiveLink rack's arm assembly can be folded for transport or storage. A convenient handle can be used for tilting, carrying, and storage, as well as a cable lock secure point.
Read all instructions thoroughly before beginning installation. Proper tools will improve the quality of installation and reduce the time required. After installation, perform a periodic inspection to ensure all hardware and components remain secure.
Yes. This product is not designed for off-road use. Do not install it on a trailer or towed vehicle. Remove the accessory before entering automatic car washes. Do not transport the bike rack in the tilted position. Never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity or the product's weight capacity. Always be mindful of the accessory extending beyond your vehicle when operating.
When transporting heavier bikes such as e-bikes and tilting the rack for rear vehicle access is necessary, a team lift may be required to prevent injury and/or product damage.
It is your responsibility to adhere to all state and federal laws regarding obstruction of vehicle lighting (brake lights, taillights, turn signals, and backup lights) and license plate when using this accessory.
Perform periodic inspection of your product to ensure all hardware and components remain secure. The manual does not specify an inspection interval, but regular checks are recommended to maintain safe operation.
