The CURT 18020 is an arm extension kit for the CURT 18021 bike rack. It allows you to expand the 18021 from a 2-bike carrier to a 4-bike carrier by inserting extension arms into the support arms of the base unit.
The 18020 is for use with any frame-mounted 2" class 3 or higher trailer hitch receiver. It is designed for vehicles with 1-1/4" receiver tubes. Clamp-on bumper receivers and traditional 4" square bumpers should not be used to mount this bike rack.
No. The 18020 is an extension kit designed to work with the CURT 18021 bike rack. You must have the 18021 base unit to use the 18020 extension arms.
You will need a Phillips screwdriver and a 19mm wrench.
The 18020 includes one arm extension and one set of rubber arm straps.
When the 18021 is expanded to a 4-bike carrier using the 18020 extension, the maximum weight capacity is 180 lbs. evenly distributed. This must never be exceeded.
The product is not intended for off-road use, tandems or recumbents. Only standard frame-mounted bikes should be used.
Yes. You must first remove the plastic caps from the support arms on the 18021 by removing the screws on the bottom surface. Then remove the carriage bolts, washers and lock nuts from the ends of the support arms to allow insertion of the extension arms.
Insert the extension arms into the ends of the support arms of the 18021 after removing the end caps and carriage bolts. Secure the extensions by re-installing the carriage bolts, washers and lock nuts that you removed.
Attach the rubber support straps to each bike support cradle. Refer to your 18021 installation manual for additional information on operation and safe use of your bike rack.
Failure to use support straps on trailer hitches with 1-1/4" receiver tubes voids the trailer hitch and bike rack warranties.
Periodic inspection of your product should be performed to ensure all hardware and components remain secure. Check straps for wear, and replace if worn.
Yes. It is the user's responsibility to adhere to all state and federal laws regarding obstruction of vehicle lighting (brake lights, taillights, turn signals and backup lights) and license plate when using this accessory.
No. Never exceed the vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity. You must also never exceed the product's weight capacity of 180 lbs. when fully expanded.
