Some Dodge 1500 models have a rubber isolator at the top of the passenger's side coil spring. If present, it must be removed and can be discarded. This is done during the Getting Started phase before inserting the air spring.
First, remove the plastic cap from the barbed stem on the air spring. Exhaust the air by rolling the spring up toward the stem, then replace the cap to hold it flat. Fold the air spring into a 'hot dog bun' shape. Insert it through the lowest opening of the coil spring with the stem at the top. Push it up by hand or with a blunt instrument such as a spoon-type tire iron. Do not use a sharp object. Once fully inside, remove the cap and allow the air spring to assume its molded shape. Push the cylinder to the bottom of the coil so the stem is accessible.
Single-path routing is recommended for vehicles with even weight distribution. It uses one tee fitting to supply both air springs from a single air line. Dual-path routing is used when weight varies from side to side and unequal pressures are needed to level the load. In dual-path installation, the tee fitting is eliminated and separate air lines are routed to each air spring.
Yes. You must drill a 5/16" (8mm) hole to mount the Schrader valve. The valve is mounted on the vehicle body or bumper, typically inside the fuel tank filler door, inside rear wheel wells, or in the license plate/rear bumper area.
Use the air line clamp (part L) and follow this procedure: (1) Slide the air line clamp onto the air line. (2) Push the air line and clamp over the barbed stem so the air line covers all the barbs. (3) Compress the ears on the clamp with pliers and slide it forward to fully cover the barbs. This procedure applies to all air line connections.
Select a location for the Schrader valve that will be protected and accessible with an air hose. Recommended locations include inside the fuel tank filler door, inside rear wheel wells, or in the license plate or rear bumper area. Drill a 5/16" (8mm) hole and mount the valve with the rubber washer (part G) serving as an outside weather seal. Install the air line on the Schrader valve first.
Leave sufficient air line slack to prevent any strain on the fittings during axle motions. This applies when routing the tee fitting to the air springs and when routing from the tee to the Schrader valve.

After the air lines are installed and the suspension is adjusted so the air spring just touches the top and bottom of the upper and lower spring mounts, inflate the air springs to 5 PSI (0.34 BAR). This is the minimum recommended pressure.
