The Load Controller II is an air suspension control system that automatically maintains minimum air pressure in your air springs. It includes a compressor, gauge panel, low pressure sensor, and wiring harnesses. The low pressure sensor is preset to maintain a minimum of 10 PSI in the air springs and automatically turns on the compressor if pressure falls below this threshold, protecting your air springs from failure.
The Load Controller II (kit 25592) is compatible with Air Lift LoadLifter 5000, Air Lift 1000, and RideControl air spring systems. The system must be installed after the air springs are already installed on your vehicle. If you are adding this system to an Air Lift 1000 or RideControl application that requires a minimum of 10 PSI, the low pressure sensor will need to be adjusted.
If you are adding this system to an Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 application, no modifications to the low pressure sensor are necessary. If you are adding it to an Air Lift 1000 or RideControl application that requires a minimum of 10 PSI, you must adjust the sensor. To do this, remove the rubber plug with pliers, use an allen wrench to turn the screw clockwise 4 1/4 turns, then push the rubber plug back in.
Kit 25592 includes: compressor (part 16060), panel assembly (26156), Harness #1 (26078), Harness #2 (26109), 10 feet of hose (20210), hardware pack (33485), and hardware pack (33872). If any parts are missing or damaged, contact Air Lift customer service at (800) 248-0892.
Required tools include: a drill with a 13/64" bit (for compressor mounting holes) and a 5/8" bit (for firewall/floorboard grommet hole), a 7/16" nut driver (for self-tapping screws), pliers (to remove rubber plug from low pressure sensor), an allen wrench (to adjust low pressure sensor), a hose cutter or razor blade (to cut existing air lines), a test light (to identify fused accessory circuit), and a spray bottle with soapy water solution (1/5 dish soap to 4/5 water for leak testing).
Mount the compressor in a dry, protected area of the vehicle, away from direct splash and excessive moisture. Do not mount it under the hood or in high heat environments. The compressor can be mounted in any position—vertical, upside down, or sideways. Ensure the compressor harness #2 will reach and connect to harness #1. If mounting outside the vehicle, shield the compressor body from direct splash and snorkel the intake inside the vehicle. Orient the intake filter so moisture can drain easily.
Select a convenient mounting location with a sturdy, rigid surface. The bottom edge of the dash on either side of the steering wheel is recommended. Attach the panel using the provided black self-tapping screws.
With your thumb against the front side of the switch, push the female connectors from harness #1 onto the blade connectors on the gauge panel switch. Push the air line onto the "T" fitting until the air line completely covers the barb. Lubricating the air line with soapy water will ease installation. Do not connect the power wire at this time. Harness #1 also connects to the low pressure sensor, which should be located under the dash inside the vehicle and secured with provided tie straps.
Push the air line completely over the barbed fitting on the compressor and connect the red power wire to the compressor.
Route harness #2 from the compressor to the low pressure sensor using existing grommets in the floorboard or firewall. Do not route the harness near the exhaust pipe, muffler, or catalytic converter. Routing along the top of a crossmember or over a heat shield is recommended. If a hole must be drilled, drill a 5/8" diameter hole and install the provided grommet. Seal any grommets or holes to prevent elements from entering the cab.
With the air springs deflated, use a hose cutter or razor blade to cut the air line already installed between the air springs and inflation valves. Install the provided "T" fittings by pushing the air line into each leg of the "T" until you feel a definite "click"—each line should go in 9/16". Connect a single length of air line to the open leg of each "T", then bring each line to the "T" fittings in harness #2 just in front of the check valves. Route the air line across the chassis over exhaust system heat shields and along the frame to the compressor, avoiding heat sources, sharp edges, and tight bends.
Route the power wire from harness #1 to the vehicle fuse box. Use a test light to determine which open terminal (accessory, etc.) works only when the key is in the "on" or accessory position, or refer to your vehicle's owner's manual for an available accessory fuse. The terminal should have an amperage rating equal to or higher than the 15 amp in-line fuse. Connection depends on your vehicle's fuse type: use adapter #1 for barrel type fuses, adapter #2 for standard spade type fuses, or adapter #3 for smaller spade type fuses. If using adapters #1 or #2, cut off the 1/4" female connector and crimp the smaller 3/16" female connector supplied. Connect the adapter to the "HOT" side of the fuse.
Route the white wire for the illuminated gauge to harness #1's fused wire or to a dash light wire circuit and attach with the quick splice provided. Ground the black wire to an adequate ground. Use the additional wire and connectors supplied if longer leads are needed.
In most cases, you can use the provided silver self-tapping screws to attach the mounting brackets directly to the vehicle. However, if the mounting area does not provide enough room to use a drill to drive the screws in, you may need to use the mounting brackets as a template to drill 13/64" holes through the frame first, then use a 7/16" nut driver to install the self-tapping screws. For box frames where the frame section is not wide enough to mount the compressor legs flat to the rail, refer to Figure 6 for an alternative mounting method using an L-bracket.
Use existing grommets in the floorboard or firewall to route harness #2 if possible. If a hole must be drilled, drill a 5/8" diameter hole and install the provided grommet. Before drilling, check for hydraulic lines, gas lines, and electrical wires that may need to be moved aside. When attaching to the floorboard, check where the screws protrude through and trim or cover them inside the vehicle if necessary. Seal any grommets or holes to prevent elements from entering the cab.
The low pressure sensor is preset to maintain a minimum pressure of 10 PSI in the air springs. After installation, inflate both air springs to 30 PSI (20 PSI for Air Lift 1000 kits) using the on/off button and adjust pressure with the small deflate button. A 2–4 PSI loss after initial installation is normal.
Drill a 5/8" diameter hole for the firewall or floorboard grommet. After drilling, insert the grommet and "walk" the material around the inside edge of the drilled hole. You may need to trim the grommet for an exact fit.
If drilling is necessary for compressor mounting, drill 13/64" holes through the frame using the mounting brackets as a template, then use a 7/16" nut driver to install the self-tapping screws.
Push the air line into each leg of the "T" fitting until you feel a definite "click". Each line should go in 9/16".
Never run the compressor longer than 4 minutes continuously. Allow at least 5 minutes for cool-down before starting the compressor again.
No. The installation of this kit does not alter the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) or payload of the vehicle. You must check your vehicle's owner's manual and not exceed the maximum load listed for your vehicle. The GVWR is the maximum allowable weight of the fully loaded vehicle (including passengers and cargo) and is shown on the vehicle's Safety Compliance Certification Label.
After inflating the air springs to the correct pressure, check all fittings and inflation valve cores with a solution of 1/5 dish soap to 4/5 water in a spray bottle for leaks. Recheck air pressure after 24 hours. A 2–4 PSI loss after initial installation is normal. If pressure has dropped more than 5 PSI, re-test for leaks with the soapy water solution.
If the compressor runs continually or often, there is a leak in the system. Disconnect the compressor at the fuse box and test for leaks with a soapy water solution to locate the source.
Recheck air pressure after 24 hours of initial installation. A 2–4 PSI loss is normal; if pressure drops more than 5 PSI, test for leaks with soapy water solution. Follow the maintenance and operating tips in the installation manual that came with your air spring kit. Do not attempt to tighten, loosen, or adjust any fittings or connections on the preassembled gauge panel, as this will likely cause a leak or malfunction and void the warranty.
No. Do not cut, trim, modify, or disassemble the harness. If you have excess length, simply coil it up and secure it out of the way with the provided tie straps.
No. All preassembled gauge panels have been 100% leak and function tested. Do not attempt to tighten, loosen, or adjust any fittings or connections. This will likely cause a leak or malfunction and void the warranty.
The Load Controller II (kit 25592) is compatible with Air Lift LoadLifter 5000, Air Lift 1000, and RideControl systems. Your air springs must be pre-installed before adding this control system.
You will need a drill (13/64" and 5/8" bits), 7/16" nut driver, pliers, allen wrench, hose cutter or razor blade, test light, and a spray bottle with soapy water solution for leak testing.
