No. Installing air springs will not change your vehicle's weight ratings (GAWR, GCWR or GVWR). You must not exceed your vehicle's GVWR, as stated in your vehicle's owner's manual and Safety Compliance Certification Label. Exceeding the GVWR is dangerous and voids the Air Lift warranty.
GVWR (Gross Vehicle Weight Rating) is the maximum allowable weight of your fully loaded vehicle, including passengers and cargo. This number is shown on your vehicle's Safety Compliance Certification Label along with tire, rim size and inflation pressure data. The LoadLifter 5000 does not alter your vehicle's GVWR. You must never exceed your vehicle's GVWR, regardless of air spring pressure or load-assist capability, as doing so is dangerous and voids the warranty.

Required tools include: open-end wrench (for elbow fitting), socket wrench set or adjustable wrench (for bolts and nuts), torque wrench (to set fastener torque values), drill with 5/16" bit (for frame mounting holes), screwdriver (to remove jounce bumper), jack and safety jack stands (to raise vehicle), soapy water solution (for leak testing), and a compressor or bicycle pump (for air pressure adjustment). A hose cutter or razor blade is needed for clean air line cuts. The manual does not specify whether a drill press is required or if a hand drill is sufficient.
The first step is to install the elbow fitting (D) to the top of the air spring. The fitting is precoated with sealant. Using an open-end wrench, tighten it 1 1/2 turns past hand tight. Tighten on the metal hex nut only and do not over-tighten. This must be done before attaching the upper bracket.

On models with disc brakes, remove the bolt holding the cable onto the back-side of the passenger's side axle. Install the supplied spacer (JJ) between the bracket and the emergency brake cable clip. Insert the supplied bolt (KK) and tighten the cable down securely. The inside strap on the passenger-side goes between the emergency brake cable bracket and the shock bracket on the axle.
Set the assembly on the axle housing between the shock absorber bracket and the leaf spring. Loosely attach the lower bracket (C) and straps (E) around the axle using carriage bolts (I), flat washers (G), and lock nuts (J). The carriage bolts should be offset inboard. For non-disc brake models, ensure the brake line is positioned between the carriage bolt and the axle housing.

Cut the air line in half using a clean, square cut with a razor blade or hose cutter. Do not use scissors or wire cutters, as these will crush the hose and create a bad cut. A good cut is perpendicular to the hose; a bad cut is angled or crushed.
Use zip ties to secure the air line to fixed points along the chassis. Do not pinch or kink the air line. Leave at least 2" (51 mm) of slack in the air line to allow for any movement that might pull on the air line. The minimum bend radius for the air line is 1" (25 mm). Keep at least 6" (152 mm) of clearance between all air lines and the exhaust system. Avoid sharp bends and edges.
Choose one of three locations for the Schrader valves: (A) inside the fuel tank filler door, (B) inside rear wheel wells, or (C) license plate or rear bumper area. Drill a 5/16" (8 mm) hole if necessary at your chosen location. Install the Schrader valve in the chosen location.
Attach the metal heat shield to the exhaust where it is closest to the side air spring. Slide the air line thermal sleeve over the air line and place it where the air line is closest to the exhaust. The heat shield assembly includes the metal shield, thermal sleeve, and clamps. Maintain at least 6" (152 mm) of clearance between all air lines and the exhaust system.
Inflate the air spring to 30 PSI (2 BAR). Spray all connections and the inflation valves with a solution of liquid dish soap and water. Spot leaks easily by looking for bubbles in the soapy water. After the test, deflate the springs to the minimum pressure required to restore the system to normal ride height, but do not deflate to lower than 5 PSI (0.34 BAR). Check the air pressure again after 24 hours. A 2-4 PSI (0.14-0.28 BAR) loss after initial installation is normal. Retest for leaks if the loss is more than 5 PSI (0.34 BAR).
Deflate the spring and remove the line by pulling the collar against the fitting and pulling firmly on the air line. Trim 1" (25 mm) off the end of the air line, ensuring the cut is clean and square. Reinsert the air line into the push-to-connect fitting. If the leak persists, check the threaded connection by tightening the swivel fitting another half turn. If it still leaks, deflate the air spring, remove the fitting, and re-coat the threads with thread sealant. Reinstall by hand-tightening as much as possible and then use a wrench for an additional two turns.
Check the valve core by tightening it with a valve core tool. If the leak persists, check the air line by removing it from the barbed fitting. Cut the air line off a few inches in front of the fitting and use a pair of pliers or locking pliers to pull/twist the air line off the fitting. Do not cut off the air line completely, as this will usually nick the barb and render the fitting useless. If these steps do not resolve the problem, call Air Lift customer service at (800) 248-0892.
Inflate the air springs to 75-90 PSI (5.2-6.2 BAR) and make sure there is at least 1/2" (13 mm) clearance from anything that might rub against each sleeve. Be sure to check the tire, brakes, frame, shock absorbers, and brake cables. This test must be completed before road testing the vehicle.
Be sure there is sufficient clearance from heat sources, at least 6" (152 mm) for air springs and air lines. If a heat shield was included in the kit, install it. If there is no heat shield but one is required, call Air Lift customer service at (800) 248-0892.
Drive the vehicle 10 miles (16 km) after the initial road test and recheck for clearance, loose fasteners, and air leaks. After 24 hours of use, recheck the air pressure. If the pressure has dropped more than 5 PSI (0.34 BAR), there is a leak that must be fixed. After 30 days or 500 miles (800 km), whichever comes first, recheck the air spring system. If any part shows signs of rubbing or abrasion, identify and move the source if possible. If relocation is not possible, the air spring may need to be remounted. Check all fasteners for tightness.
The minimum recommended air pressure for the LoadLifter 5000 is 5 PSI (0.34 BAR). Operating the vehicle below this minimum air spring pressure will void the Air Lift warranty. For comparison, the Ultimate and Ultimate Plus models can safely be run at zero air pressure when unladen (no load).
The maximum air pressure for the LoadLifter 5000 is 100 PSI (6.9 BAR). Never inflate beyond this pressure. Although the air springs are rated at this maximum, the air pressure actually needed is dependent on load and your vehicle's gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR).
Loaded vehicles require at least 25 PSI (1.7 BAR). A "loaded vehicle" refers to a vehicle with a heavy bed load, a trailer, or both. Never exceed your vehicle's GVWR, regardless of air spring pressure or other load assist. The springs in this kit will support approximately 40 pounds (18 kg) of load (combined on both springs) for each 1 PSI (0.07 BAR) of pressure. The required air pressure will vary depending on the state of the original suspension.

If it is necessary to raise the vehicle by the frame, make sure the system is at minimum pressure (5 PSI [0.34 BAR]) to reduce the tension on the suspension and brake components. Use of on-board leveling systems do not require deflation or disconnection.

No. Air pressure can be adjusted with any type of compressor as long as it can produce sufficient pressure to service the springs. Even a bicycle tire pump can be used, but it is a lot of work. The kit does not require a dedicated on-board compressor system.
If the vehicle's headlights are shining into the trees or the vehicle is leaning to one side, it is not level. Raise the air pressure to correct either of these problems and level the vehicle. Start with the vehicle level or slightly above. When in doubt, always add air. Adjust the pressure up and down to find the best ride.
If the vehicle has a rough or harsh ride, it may be due to either too much pressure or not enough. Try different pressures to determine the best ride comfort. Stability should be the priority, meaning you may need to sacrifice a perfectly level and comfortable ride. Stability issues include roll control, bounce, dive during braking, and sponginess. Tuning out these problems usually requires an increase in pressure.
Stability translates into safety and should be the priority. If the vehicle rocks and rolls, adjust the air pressure to reduce movement. If the front of the vehicle dives while braking, increase the pressure in the front air bags, if equipped. If it is ever suspected that the air bags have bottomed out, increase the pressure. It may be necessary to maintain different pressures on each side of the vehicle. Loads such as water, fuel, and appliances will cause the vehicle to be heavier on one side, and as much as a 50 PSI (3.5 BAR) difference is not uncommon.
