The LoadLifter 5000 Ultimate is an adjustable air helper spring system that provides up to 5,000 pounds (2,268 kg) of load-leveling support. It uses reinforced, commercial-grade convolute bellows with an internal jounce bumper and allows air adjustability from 5–100 PSI (0.34–7 BAR). It is designed to help level your vehicle when towing or hauling heavy loads.
There must be at least 8 inches (203 mm) of clearance between the tire and the frame to install the LoadLifter 5000 Ultimate kit. This clearance is required to accommodate the air spring assembly.
Yes, the kit is compatible with 2008 and later Ford vehicles. However, these models require drilling a 3/8" locating hole for the upper bracket using a template provided in the manual. The template must be printed at 100% scale to ensure accurate hole placement.
The kit includes two air springs (part 58496), two upper brackets (07178), two lower brackets (03102), four roll plates (11967), two elbow fittings (21837), U-bolts, washers, lock nuts, bolts, a jounce bumper spacer (10014), an air line assembly (20086), zip ties (10466), valve caps (21230), and hardware for securing the Schrader valves. A complete hardware list with part numbers and quantities is provided in the manual.
The manual specifies a 9/16" open-ended wrench for securing the air spring to the lower bracket. A center punch and drill are needed for drilling the 3/8" locating hole on 2008+ Ford vehicles and the two 1/2" holes in the frame. A razor blade or hose cutter is required for cutting the air line. A measuring tool is needed to verify the drilling template is printed at 100% scale. Standard wrenches and sockets for the various bolt sizes (3/8" and 1/2") are also necessary.
1. Raise the vehicle and remove the wheels. 2. Obtain normal ride height. 3. Remove the emergency brake cable bracket from the driver side spring retainer and save the bolt for later use. 4. Remove both jounce bumpers from under the frame above the axle and save them for later use. Before drilling any holes, check the back side of the frame for clearance issues with brake lines, gas lines, and electrical lines, and temporarily relocate any obstacles.
The distance between the upper bracket and lower bracket (measured as distances X and Y) must be between 6 1/2" and 8" (165–203 mm), and the distances must be equal on both sides. It is best to use the highest envelope available. Failure to mount the air spring at or higher than 6 1/2" (165 mm) can result in the air spring bottoming out.
1. Set roll plates (D) on both ends of the air spring (A) with the radiused edge facing the air spring. 2. Install a 90-degree swivel air fitting (E) finger tight plus 1 1/2 turns—do not overtighten. 3. Place the upper bracket (B) onto the top of the bellows and roll plate with legs facing down. 4. Set the air spring on the lower bracket (C), aligning the two holes in the base of the air spring with the two outer slots in the top of the lower bracket. 5. Attach the upper bracket using flat washers (I), lock washers (J), and hex head bolts (N), tightened securely. 6. Loosely attach the lower bracket using the same fasteners.
1. Set the assembly back on the spring. 2. Attach the upper bracket using one 3/8" bolt (M), flat washer (L), and nylon lock nut (H). Also attach using two 1/2" bolts (U), four flat washers (S), and two nylon lock nuts (T). 3. Torque the 3/8" bolt to 44 lb.-ft. (60 Nm). 4. Torque the 1/2" bolts to 95 lb.-ft. (129 Nm). For 2008 and later Ford vehicles, use the drilling template to locate and drill a 3/8" hole before attaching.

If not using a spacer, attach the lower bracket securely using the provided U-bolts (F or G), flat washers (I), and nylon lock nuts (H), and torque to 16 lb.-ft. (22 Nm). If using a spacer (O), place the spacer on the leaf spring and attach the lower bracket securely using the provided lock nuts (H), torqued to 16 lb.-ft. (22 Nm). Use shorter U-bolts (F) when attaching to frame contact overloads.
