The LoadLifter 5000 Ultimate is an adjustable air helper spring system that provides up to 5,000 pounds (2,268 kg) of load-leveling support for the rear suspension. It uses commercial-grade convolute bellows with an internal jounce bumper and allows air adjustability from 5–100 PSI (0.34–7 BAR). The system helps maintain ride height when towing or hauling heavy loads.
Kit 88299 includes two air springs (part 58740), two roll plates (11967), two upper brackets (07510), two lower brackets (03008), two swivel elbow fittings (21953), fasteners (3/8" flat-head screws, hex-head cap screws, lock washers, flat washers, U-bolts, carriage bolts, nylon lock nuts), clamp bars (01801), air line (20086), six zip ties (10466), two valve caps (21230), and hardware for Schrader valve installation (M8 flat washers, rubber washers, star washers, 5/16" hex nuts). Yes. The first step is to jack up the rear of the vehicle using a jack or hoist, support the rear axle with safety stands, and remove the rear wheels.
Required tools include: hoist or floor jacks, two safety stands, safety glasses, torque wrench, 5/16" open-end or box wrench, 7/16" open-end or box wrench, 9/16" open-end or box wrench, ratchet with 9/16", metric, and 1/2" deep well sockets, two 5/16" drill bits (very sharp), heavy duty drill, hose cutter or razor blade or sharp knife, air compressor or compressed air source, and spray bottle with dish soap/water solution.
The manual does not mention battery disconnection. No electrical work is required for this air spring installation.
Drilling is required only for the Schrader valve installation. You must drill a 5/16" (8 mm) hole in the chosen location for the inflation valve. Recommended locations are inside the fuel tank filler door, inside rear wheel wells, or in the license plate or rear bumper area. No drilling is required for the air spring assembly itself.
Yes. The stock jounce bumper must be trimmed to gain clearance for the air spring assembly's lower bracket. Measure up from the base of the jounce bumper 3/4" and mark a line. Using a box cutter or equivalent, cut the top of the jounce bumper off at that line. Use extreme caution when cutting with the cutting tool.
Yes. The manual states that the jounce bumper has been intentionally cut to support the lower bracket and will be necessary to draw the lower bracket into the jounce bumper using the U-bolts. This is a permanent modification.
Yes. Before installing the air springs, bend the emergency brake cable bracket forward slightly on both sides of the vehicle to gain clearance for the lower bracket.
Torque the 3/8" flat-head screws that attach the upper bracket to the air spring to 20 lb.-ft. (27 Nm).
Install the 90-degree swivel air fitting to the top of the air spring and tighten finger tight plus 1 1/2 turns.
Torque the 5/16" carriage bolts that attach the clamp bars to 12 lb.-ft. (16 Nm). Tighten them evenly using a cross pattern.
Torque the 3/8" U-bolts evenly to 16 lb.-ft. (22 Nm). After torquing, trim the excessive length of the U-bolts close to the nylon lock nut.
Move the lower bracket on the leaf spring to align the air spring so that it is close to being perpendicular between both brackets. The upper and lower brackets will not be parallel to each other once installed.
The flange on the lower bracket should be on the same side of the air spring as the fitting on the upper bracket. These will both face the inside of the truck once installed.
Cut the air line in half using a razor blade or hose cutter, making clean, square cuts. Do not use scissors or wire cutters, as they will damage the line.
Use zip ties to secure the air line to fixed points along the chassis. Do not pinch or kink the air line. Leave at least 2" (51 mm) of slack in the air line to allow for any movement that might pull on the line. The minimum bend radius for the air line is 1" (25 mm). Keep at least 6" (152 mm) of clearance between all air lines and the exhaust system, and avoid sharp bends and edges.
Choose one of three recommended locations for the Schrader valve: inside the fuel tank filler door, inside a rear wheel well, or in the license plate or rear bumper area. Drill a 5/16" (8 mm) hole if necessary at the chosen location, then install the Schrader valve using the supplied hardware (rubber washer, star washer, flat washer, and hex nut).
The maximum air pressure is 100 PSI (7 BAR). Never inflate beyond this pressure. However, the air pressure actually needed is dependent on load and gross vehicle weight rating.

No. For safety and to prevent possible damage to the vehicle, do not exceed the maximum gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) or payload rating as indicated by the vehicle manufacturer. The air springs support the suspension but do not change the vehicle's weight capacity limits.
Compressed air can cause injury and damage to the vehicle and parts if it is not handled properly. Do not try to inflate the air springs until they have been properly secured to the vehicle.
Inflate the air springs to 40–60 PSI (2.8–4.1 BAR) and make sure there is at least 1/2" (13 mm) clearance from anything that might rub against each sleeve. Be sure to check the tire, brakes, frame, shock absorbers, and brake cables. Also verify at least 6" (152 mm) clearance from heat sources such as the exhaust system.
Inflate the air springs to 40–60 PSI (2.8–4.1 BAR) and check all connections for leaks using a spray bottle with dish soap and water solution. All leaks must be eliminated before the vehicle is road tested. If the system develops an air leak during use, check all air line connections and the inflation valve core with soapy water before deflating and removing the air spring.
After clearance, leak, heat, and fastener tests are complete, road test the vehicle. Inflate the springs to recommended driving pressures, drive the vehicle 10 miles (16 km), and recheck for clearance, loose fasteners, and air leaks.
