Yes. These kits are designed for 2001-10 Chevrolet/GMC 2500/3500 models. However, your vehicle may be equipped with a rear brake proportioning valve that could affect brake performance. Check with your dealer before installation. If your vehicle does not have a rear brake proportioning valve or has an anti-lock brake system, installation will have no effect on brake performance.
Required tools include: standard and metric open-end or box wrenches, adjustable wrench, ratchet, metric/9/16"/1/2" deep-well sockets, 3/8" and 5/16" sharp drill bits, heavy-duty drill, torque wrench, standard and metric hex-key wrenches, hose cutter or sharp knife, hoist or floor jacks, 2 safety stands, safety glasses, air compressor, and spray bottle with dish soap/water solution.

Yes. You must drill a 5/16" (8mm) hole for the Schrader valve location. On 2500 HD models, a small weld nut bracket on the driver's side axle must be removed. The manual does not specify the removal method; contact Air Lift customer service at (800) 248-0892 for details.
Upper bracket bolts: 20 lb.-ft. (27 Nm). Axle strap bolts: 16 lb.-ft. (22 Nm), torqued evenly. Air spring elbow fitting: finger tight plus 1½ turns only. Braided stainless steel air line hex nut: finger tight, then use 2 wrenches to turn 1 additional flat (1/6 of one full turn).
Maximum air pressure is 100 PSI (7 BAR). Minimum recommended pressure is 5 PSI (0.34 BAR). Do not exceed 100 PSI or your vehicle's maximum gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) or payload rating. Air pressure needed depends on load and GVWR.
Inflate to 40-60 PSI and check for ½" clearance from tires, brakes, frame, shocks and cables. Check all connections for leaks. Verify 6" clearance from heat sources. Recheck all bolt torque. Road test for 10 miles and recheck clearance, fasteners and leaks.
The LoadLifter 5000 series provides up to 5,000 pounds (2,268 kg) of load-leveling support. Air pressure is adjustable from 5 to 100 PSI (0.34 to 7 BAR). Standard LoadLifter 5000 (57275): zinc-plated steel roll plates and black nylon air lines. LoadLifter 5000 Ultimate (88275): black powder-coated roll plates and black nylon air lines. LoadLifter 5000 Ultimate Plus (89275): stainless steel roll plates, braided stainless steel air lines, and stainless steel air spring mounting hardware. Air Lift also offers upgrade kits: 52300 (braided stainless steel air lines and fittings) and 52301 (stainless steel roll plates, hardware, and braided air lines).
Yes. On 2500 HD models only: a small weld nut bracket on the driver's side axle must be removed; a 3/8" bolt (U) and lock nut (L) must be installed through the lower bracket hole with the bolt head facing down; the assembly with the cinch bolt goes on the driver's side, with lower bracket legs hooked under the jounce bumper strike plate. On 3500 models, the assembly is set on the strike plate with lower bracket legs forward and behind the axle. The 3500 model also has a different style strike plate.
1. Set a roll plate (D) on both ends of the air spring (C) with the radiused edge toward the air spring. 2. Install the 90-degree elbow fitting (E) to the top of the air spring, tightening finger tight plus 1½ turns on the metal hex nut only—do not overtighten. 3. Install the upper bracket (A) using slot A for driver's side or slot B for passenger's side, with two 3/8" bolts (G), lock washers (K), and flat washers (J or V)—leave bolts loose. 4. Driver's side only: insert a 5/16" bolt (O) into the small hole on the lower bracket (B) before attaching it. 5. 2500 HD only: install a 3/8" bolt (U) and lock nut (L) through the lower bracket hole with bolt head facing down, tightened securely. 6. Insert two 3/8" carriage bolts (I) through the large holes into the square holes of the lower bracket legs. 7. Attach the lower bracket to the air spring using two 3/8" flat-head screws (P), tightened securely.
The elbow fitting points toward the rear of the vehicle on the driver's (left) side and toward the front of the vehicle on the passenger's (right) side.
1. Insert two 3/8" bolts (H) and flat washers (J) through the existing jounce bumper holes and through the slotted holes in the upper bracket. 2. Attach using two flat washers (J) and nylon lock nuts (L) on each bolt. 3. Push the bracket inboard and tighten both upper bolts to 20 lb.-ft. (27 Nm). There should be a thumbs width between the air spring roll plate (D) and the leaf spring U-bolt. It may be helpful to raise the axle so the upper bracket touches the frame.
1. Bring the axle all the way up and remove the safety stands used to support the frame. 2. Adjust the assembly so the air spring is perpendicular to the bottom and top mounting brackets. The upper bracket is slotted for forward and backward adjustment; the bottom adjusts by moving the bracket in or out on the axle. 3. Tighten the top mounting bolts to 20 lb.-ft. (27 Nm). 4. Attach the axle strap (F) to both lower bracket carriage bolts using two flat washers (J) and two nylon lock nuts (L), torqued evenly to 16 lb.-ft. (22 Nm).
Driver's side only: 1. Attach the brake line bracket (Q) to the lower bracket using the previously installed 5/16" bolt (O) with one flat washer (J) and a nylon lock nut (M). 2. Attach the brake line clip (N) onto the emergency brake line bracket. 3. Attach the clip assembly to the brake line bracket using a 5/16" bolt (O), two flat washers (J), and a nylon lock nut (M). 4. Align the bracket and clip assembly so they do not bind to the cable. Tighten all mounting hardware securely. Ensure the cable does not rub against the air spring when fully inflated; adjust if necessary.
1. Cut the air line in half using a razor blade or hose cutter, making clean, square cuts. Do not use scissors or wire cutters. 2. Use zip ties to secure the air line to fixed points along the chassis without pinching or kinking it. The minimum bend radius is 1" (25 mm). Leave at least 2" (50 mm) of slack to allow for movement. 3. Install the Schrader valve in the chosen location. Recommended locations are inside the fuel tank filler door, inside rear wheel wells, or the license plate or rear bumper area.
1. Use zip ties to secure the air line to fixed points along the chassis every 6" to 8" (152-203 mm), leaving at least 2" (51 mm) of slack for movement. 2. Tighten the air line hex nut finger tight, then use 2 wrenches to turn 1 additional flat (1/6 of one full turn). Do not overtighten. The easiest way is to tighten off the vehicle. 3. Install the Schrader valve in the chosen location. 4. Coil and secure any excess air line in an area where it will not be susceptible to damage. The braided stainless steel air line cannot be trimmed. Keep the air line away from fuel lines, brake lines and electrical wires.
Maintain at least 6" (150 mm) of clearance between all air lines and the exhaust system. Avoid sharp bends and edges. If a heat shield is included in the kit, install it by attaching the metal heat shield to the exhaust where it is closest to the passenger's (right) side air spring. Slide the air line thermal sleeve over the air line and position it where the air line is closest to the exhaust, maintaining 1/2" (13 mm) dead air space between the shield and exhaust. Double hose clamps if necessary.
Drill a 5/16" (8 mm) hole in the chosen location. Recommended locations are: inside the fuel tank filler door, inside rear wheel wells, or the license plate or rear bumper area. For LoadLifter 5000 Ultimate Plus kits, the recommended location is the rear bumper area or license plate.
Standard LoadLifter 5000 (57275): push-to-connect (PTC) fittings (part 21848). LoadLifter 5000 Ultimate (88275): push-to-connect (PTC) fittings (part 21848). LoadLifter 5000 Ultimate Plus (89275): AN type fittings (part 21815) with stainless steel braided air lines. The Ultimate Plus kit includes a PTC to AN adapter fitting (part 21813) for compressor integration.
Do not try to inflate the air springs until they have been properly secured to the vehicle. Compressed air can cause injury and damage to the vehicle and parts if not handled properly. After installation, inflate to 40-60 PSI (2.8-4.1 BAR) for clearance and leak testing before road testing. Never inflate beyond 100 PSI (7 BAR).
After inflating to 40-60 PSI (2.8-4.1 BAR), ensure at least 1/2" (13 mm) clearance from anything that might rub against each air spring sleeve. Check the tire, brakes, frame, shock absorbers and brake cables. There should be a thumbs width between the air spring roll plate and the leaf spring U-bolt. Ensure the emergency brake cable does not rub against the air spring when fully inflated.
Inflate the air springs to 40-60 PSI (2.8-4.1 BAR) and check all connections for leaks using a spray bottle with a dish soap/water solution. Check all air line connections and the inflation valve core. All leaks must be eliminated before the vehicle is road tested. If the system develops an air leak after installation, use the soapy water solution to check all connections and the valve core before deflating and removing the air spring.
After the preceding clearance, leak, heat, and fastener tests, road test the vehicle. Inflate the air springs to recommended driving pressures. Drive the vehicle 10 miles (16 km) and recheck for clearance, loose fasteners and air leaks.
Check air pressure weekly. Always maintain normal ride height. Never inflate beyond 100 PSI (7 BAR). The air pressure actually needed depends on load and gross vehicle weight rating. Do not exceed your vehicle's maximum GVWR or payload rating as indicated by the vehicle manufacturer. If the system develops an air leak, use a soapy water solution to check all air line connections and the inflation valve core before deflating and removing the air spring.

Adjust the brake line bracket and clip assembly so that the cable does not rub against the air spring. Align the bracket and clip assembly to ensure they do not bind to the cable. Tighten all mounting hardware securely after adjustment.
Use a spray bottle with a soapy water solution to check all air line connections and the inflation valve core. Identify the location of the leak. All leaks must be eliminated before the vehicle is road tested. If unable to locate or fix the leak, contact Air Lift customer service at (800) 248-0892.
After inflating to 40-60 PSI (2.8-4.1 BAR), check for at least 1/2" (13 mm) clearance from the tire, brakes, frame, shock absorbers and brake cables. If rubbing is detected, adjust the assembly position by moving the bracket in or out on the axle (bottom adjustment) or using the slotted holes in the upper bracket (forward and backward adjustment) until proper clearance is achieved. Recheck clearance after adjustment.
