Yes. On 2WD models, it is necessary to remove the lower shock absorber mounting bolt to position and tighten the provided U-bolt with the lower bracket and adapter assembly in place. After the U-bolt is secured, the lower shock mounting bolt is reinstalled.
For 4WD models, torque the U-bolt to 16 ft-lbs. This specification applies when securing the lower bracket to the leaf springs using the provided U-bolts, flat washers, and lock nuts.
The upper bracket must be in line with the lower bracket and on the same angle as the leaf spring. It must be parallel and perpendicular to the lower bracket. The upper bracket is designed to be tilted for the proper angle, and the bottom of the upper bracket must fit tight to the bottom of the frame rail.

No. Adding air springs will not change the weight ratings (GAWR, GCWR, and/or GVWR) of a vehicle. Do not exceed the maximum load recommended by the vehicle manufacturer or the GVWR. Exceeding the GVWR is dangerous and voids the Air Lift warranty.
Inflate the air springs to 60 p.s.i. before adding the payload. After the vehicle is loaded, adjust the air pressure to level the vehicle. The actual air pressure needed depends on the load and GVWR, which may be less than 100 p.s.i. Check your vehicle owner's manual and do not exceed maximum loads listed for your vehicle.
When inflating air springs, add pressure in small quantities and check the pressure frequently during inflation. The sleeves require much less air volume than a tire and therefore inflate much faster. This prevents over-inflation and allows for precise pressure adjustment.
If it becomes necessary to raise the vehicle by the frame, reduce the system to minimum pressure (5 p.s.i.) to reduce tension on suspension and brake components. After lowering the vehicle, check that the air spring rolls back down over the bottom piston. If the vehicle rocks and rolls, or if the front of the vehicle dives while braking, the air springs may have bottomed out. Increase the air pressure to correct these issues. If it is suspected that the air bags have bottomed out, increase the pressure.
