From the cattle rancher on the open range to the industrial man of the asphalt jungle to the jerky-jawing trail hog of the north woods, the ARIES 2-1/2" bull bar is made for those who face the uncertain road without fear. This particular model is constructed from 304 stainless steel. 304 stainless is high in nickel content, allowing the bull bar to easily resist water, road salt and rust and maintain its mirror-like polished finish in spite of the elements. Other available finishes include high-gloss black stainless steel, textured black steel and semi-gloss black steel. Customizing the look of your vehicle is simple with the ARIES 2-1/2" bull bar. It is equipped with pre-drilled light mounting holes and a removable skid plate. The center crossbar features two pre-drilled holes that readily accept an LED light bar or two LED work lights. The skid plate is made from 304 stainless steel and has a brushed finish to stop rust and hide scratches and scuffs. It also features an aggressive, ARIES-exclusive cutout pattern and can be removed for a customized look. Each ARIES 2-1/2" bull bar is made a vehicle-specific design, meaning that for each make and model, the bull bar has a custom bend and unique mounting brackets. This allows for the best possible fit on your vehicle and ensures solid attachment. The brackets also use pre-existing factory holes in the vehicle's frame to eliminate drilling, speed up installation and increase rigidity. This bull bar fits select model years of the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon (see application info to verify fitment).

The kit includes: 1 bull bar, 1 driver/left mounting bracket, 1 passenger/right mounting bracket, 2 M10 x 30mm bolt plates, 2 M10 flat washers, 2 M10 lock washers, 2 M10 hex nuts, 2 M12 x 50mm hex bolts, 4 M12 x 100mm hex bolts, 10 M12 flat washers, 6 M12 lock washers, 4 M12 hex nuts, and 2 M10 plastic retainers.
Required tools: ratchet, 13mm socket, 16mm socket, torque wrench, 18mm wrench, and level. A utility knife is also needed for trimming the splash guard.

License plate removal is not required but is strongly recommended. If your local province or state law requires a front license plate, Aries Automotive offers license plate relocation kits (part #35-0000) available for separate purchase.
Yes, cutting is required. The plastic lower valance and splash guard must be trimmed to fit around the mounting brackets using a utility knife.
Remove the plastic lower valance from the lower bumper by removing two pushpins (one on each side of the fender well) and prying out the tabs with a flat-tip screwdriver. If you plan to reinstall the valance, it will need to be trimmed to fit the bull bar.
Remove the plastic splash guard. If your truck has an Offroad Package or Z71, it may have a metal cross bar instead of or in addition to the plastic splash guard; remove that as well. The cross bar will be reattached after the mounting brackets are installed.
Position the driver/left mounting bracket to the inside of the frame rail. Check from the outer side of the frame to see if the mounting holes pass completely through the frame rails front and rear. If they do, insert 2 M12 x 100mm hex bolts, 2 M12 flat washers, 2 M12 lock washers, and 2 M12 hex nuts. Snug but do not tighten the hardware at this stage.
On Z71 and Offroad Package models, the rear mounting hole does not pass completely through the frame. Instead, use a plastic retainer threaded onto a bolt tab, insert the bolt tab into the factory oval hole on the inner frame rail, and tighten the plastic retainer until it reaches the side rail. Secure the front with 1 M12 x 100mm hex bolt, 2 M12 flat washers, 1 M12 lock washer, and 1 M12 hex nut. Secure the rear with 1 M10 flat washer, 1 M10 lock washer, and 1 M10 nut.
Tighten the plastic retainer until it reaches the side rail so it does not fall in. Do not over-tighten beyond this point.
Repeat the same procedure as the driver/left side mounting bracket. Position the passenger/right mounting bracket to the inside of the frame rail, check if the mounting holes pass completely through the frame, and secure with the appropriate hardware for your truck model (standard or Z71/Offroad Package configuration). Snug but do not tighten the hardware.
After both the driver/left and passenger/right mounting brackets are installed and snugged (but not fully tightened), reattach the factory cross bar and tighten it.
With assistance, position the bull bar to the mounting brackets. Secure it using 2 M12 x 50mm hex bolts, 2 M12 lock washers, and 2 M12 flat washers (one per side). Use a level to adjust the bull bar to ensure it is level, then tighten all hardware.
Hold the splash guard up to the mounting points and mark where the mounting brackets interfere with it. Double-check your marks, then trim off the excess plastic with a utility knife. Cut only what is needed to allow the brackets to clear the splash guard.
M12 bolts should be torqued to 28 ft.-lbs.
M10 bolts should be torqued to 16 ft.-lbs.
Metric: M6 bolt = 3 ft.-lbs., M8 bolt = 7 ft.-lbs., M10 bolt = 16 ft.-lbs., M12 bolt = 28 ft.-lbs. SAE equivalent: 1/4" bolt = 3 ft.-lbs., 5/16" bolt = 7 ft.-lbs., 3/8" bolt = 16 ft.-lbs., 7/16" bolt = 20 ft.-lbs., 1/2" bolt = 28 ft.-lbs.
Perform periodic inspections to ensure that all hardware is secure and tight. The manual does not specify the inspection interval, so contact Aries Automotive at 877.287.8634 for recommended maintenance intervals.
For stainless steel and aluminum, polish may be used to clear small scratches and scuffs on the finish. Mild soap may also be used to clean the product.
