ARIES 3" side bars add a custom look and dependable footing to your truck, Jeep or SUV. They feature a classic style, a strong design and non-skid step pads. ARIES nerf bars are all made vehicle-specific for a custom, no-drill fit, and they are available in multiple finish options. This set of nerf bars is constructed from 304 stainless steel with a polished finish. Our 304 stainless steel is a true stainless with high nickel content, offering better corrosion resistance and a long-lasting finish. The polish is a triple application, resulting in a mirror-like shine to complement your vehicle. ARIES 3" round side bars also come with high-strength steel brackets and non-skid step pads. The mounting brackets -- as well as the side bars and step pads -- are custom-designed for specific makes and models to allow the nerf bars to contour to the lines of your vehicle. This ensures easy, no-drill installation and the strength necessary to provide solid footing. This particular set of custom nerf bars fits specific years of the Chevy or GMC C1500, C2500, C3500, K1500, K2500 and K3500 (see application info to verify fitment). ARIES 3" round side bars also come with non-skid step pads made of polypropylene. These wide, custom-positioned step pads feature a textured pattern and cover a wide portion of the tubes to be more comfortable and high-traction, even in wet conditions.

The ARIES 204036-2 3-Inch Round Polished Stainless Steel Nerf Bars, No-Drill, Fits Select Chevrolet, GMC C, K (Part #BBDR204036-2) Refer to the included instructions for installation details. Basic hand tools are typically all you need.
These step bars fit 1967–72 Chevrolet and GMC 2-wheel drive 3/4-ton and all 4-wheel drive pickups.
The left and right step bars are distinguished by the length of their mounting legs. The long leg is positioned to the rear of the vehicle when installed. This difference in leg length helps you identify which bar is LH and which is RH.
The kit includes: (1) LH step bar, (1) RH step bar, (2) LH and RH front step bar mounting brackets, (2) LH and RH front support brackets, (2) rear step bar mounting brackets, (2) rear support brackets, (4) 3/8" × 1-1/4" hex head bolts, (4) 3/8" hex nuts, (8) 3/8" flat washers, (4) 3/8" lock washers, (2) 7/16" × 90° hex head bolts, (4) 7/16" flat washers, (2) 9/16" × 6" hex head bolts, (4) 9/16" flat washers, (2) 9/16" torque lock nuts, (4) 3/16" thick spacer washers, (4) 12mm × 1.75 × 50mm hex head bolts, (8) 12mm flat washers, and (4) 12mm lock washers.
Depending on its condition, you may be able to reuse your existing bolt. However, the instructions specify that you will need to install a 9/16" × 6" bolt with a flat washer at the front cab mount location. Check the condition of your existing bolt before deciding whether to reuse it.
The assembly order for the rear cab mount is: bracket, bushing, flat washer, and 7/16" × 9" bolt. Remove the lower bushing from the sleeve, install the rear step bar mounting bracket, then assemble in this order before installing the rear cab mount bolt.
After bolting the step bar to the front and rear brackets using the 12mm × 1.75 × 50mm bolts, lock washers, and flat washers, visually check for proper clearance between the step bar and rocker panel. If additional clearance is necessary, use 3/16" spacer washers as required between the flat washer on the bottom side of cab bushings and the step bar mounting brackets.
Yes, drilling is required. The front support bracket requires drilling one 3/8" hole per side in the horizontal portion of the lower frame rail. The rear support bracket also requires drilling one 3/8" hole per side in the horizontal portion of the lower frame rail. Mark the hole location with the bracket in position before drilling.
The front support bracket is installed in two stages. First, position it so the flat horizontal surface contacts the underside of the frame rail, then mark the 3/8" hole location on the frame rail. Drill the hole, then secure the bracket to the frame using a 3/8" × 1-1/4" bolt with corresponding lock washer, flat washer, and hex nut. The bracket is also secured to the step bar mounting bracket with the step bar mounting bolt. Hand tighten all fasteners initially.
The rear support bracket is installed by first removing the step bar mounting bolt and positioning the bracket so the flat horizontal surface contacts the underside of the frame rail. Mark the 3/8" hole location on the frame rail. To allow room for drilling, remove the step bar mounting bolt, rear support bracket, and step bar mounting bracket. After drilling the hole, reinstall the step bar mounting bracket, rear support bracket, and step bar mounting bolt. Secure the rear support bracket to the frame using a 3/8" × 1-1/4" bolt with corresponding lock washer, flat washer, and lock nut.
After both support brackets are installed, check the alignment of the step bar, make any final adjustments, and then tighten all bolts. Repeat the installation procedure for the opposite side if not already completed.
Check fasteners periodically and re-tighten as necessary. The manual does not specify an exact interval, but regular inspection is recommended to ensure all bolts remain secure.
Yes, if your vehicle is a 1967–72 Chevrolet or GMC 2-wheel drive 3/4-ton or any 4-wheel drive pickup. The step bar is designed for these models.
Yes. You must drill two 3/8" holes in the lower frame rail—one per side—for the front support bracket and one per side for the rear support bracket.
Yes. You must access the interior side of the cab floor to remove the front cab mount bolt and install the 9/16" × 6" replacement bolt.
Use 3/16" spacer washers as required between the flat washer on the bottom side of cab bushings and the step bar mounting brackets to increase clearance.
Yes. Check fasteners periodically and re-tighten as necessary to ensure the step bar remains secure.
