ARIES 3" side bars are more than a fancy decal for your truck, Jeep or SUV. They are a confident first step on each new adventure. These 3" nerf bars are constructed from strong carbon steel for superior rigidity, and they feature a sleek semi-gloss black powder coat finish. For an added edge, each nerf bar also goes through an E-coat process, before receiving its black powder coat, to strengthen and protect the final finish against peeling, chipping and scratching. ARIES 3" round side bars are also available in polished stainless steel or semi-gloss black powder-coated steel. All ARIES 3" nerf bars come with heavy-duty steel brackets and non-skid step pads. The mounting brackets are strong and custom-designed for specific makes and models to allow the side bars to contour to the lines of your vehicle. They offer easy installation and the strength necessary to provide sound footing. These particular custom nerf bars fit specific years of the Dodge Dakota (see application info to verify fitment). ARIES 3" round side bars also come with non-skid step pads made of tough polypropylene. These step pads feature a textured pattern for enhanced safety, and they cover a wide portion of the tubes for a more comfortable step.

The ARIES 205000 3-Inch Round Black Steel Nerf Bars, No-Drill, Fits Select Dodge Dakota (Part #BBDR205000) Refer to the included instructions for installation details. Basic hand tools are typically all you need.
The kit includes two sidebars (driver/left and passenger/right), four mounting brackets (front and rear pairs), one middle support bracket per side, two plastic retainers, and all fasteners: four 12mm × 50mm bolt plates, 12mm flat and lock washers, 10mm × 25mm hex bolts, 10mm flat and lock washers, 10mm nuts, and two 10mm × 35mm T bolts with plastic retainers.
Yes, the Curt 205000 and 205000-2 sidebars are designed for 1997–04 Dodge Dakota Club Cab models. Verify all parts are present before installation.
No. All fasteners required for installation are included in the kit. The installation reuses the factory body bolts and washers that are removed during installation.
Remove the front factory body bolt and washer from the driver/left side front of the vehicle (step 2), the rear factory body bolt from the driver/left side rear (step 5), and the rubber push caps from inside the rocker panel (step 3). These factory bolts are reused to secure the front and rear mounting brackets.
1. Install the front mounting bracket using factory bolts (snug only). 2. Remove the rubber push cap from the rocker panel and install the bolt plate with plastic retainer. 3. Attach the middle brace bracket to the bolt plate (snug only). 4. Install the rear mounting bracket using factory bolts (snug only). 5. Fasten the sidebar to the front mounting bracket with 12mm hardware (snug only). 6. Fasten the sidebar rear to the rear mounting bracket with 12mm hardware (snug only). 7. Secure the middle brace bracket to the sidebar bottom with 10mm hardware (snug only). 8. Level and align the sidebar, then tighten all hardware. Repeat for the passenger/right side.
All hardware must be snugged (tightened lightly) during the initial assembly steps but left loose until the sidebar is leveled and aligned. Only after the sidebar is properly positioned and leveled (step 9) should all hardware be fully tightened. This allows for adjustment during installation.
Locate the rubber push cap on the inside of the rocker panel and remove it. Thread the plastic retainer onto the threads of the bolt plate, place the bolt plate into the hole, and tighten the plastic retainer against the rocker panel to prevent the bolt from falling into the hole. See Illustration 2 for reference.
Use one 12mm × 50mm hex bolt, one 12mm lock washer, and one 12mm flat washer to connect the sidebar to the front mounting bracket. Snug but do not tighten until the sidebar is leveled and aligned.
Use one 12mm × 50mm hex bolt, one 12mm lock washer, and one 12mm flat washer to connect the sidebar rear to the rear mounting bracket. Snug but do not tighten until the sidebar is leveled and aligned.
Use one 10mm hex bolt, one 10mm lock washer, and one 10mm flat washer to secure the middle brace bracket to the bottom of the sidebar. Snug but do not tighten until the sidebar is leveled and aligned.
Use one 10mm flat washer, one 10mm lock washer, and one 10mm nut to secure the middle brace bracket to the bolt plate installed on the rocker panel. Snug but do not tighten until the sidebar is leveled and aligned.
Install the driver/left sidebar first by completing steps 2–9. Then repeat steps 2–9 for the passenger/right sidebar. This allows you to level and align each sidebar individually before final tightening.
Wax the product after installation and apply regular wax to add a protective layer. Do not use polish or wax containing abrasives, as these can damage the finish. For stainless steel, aluminum polish may be used on small scratches and scuffs, and mild soap may be used to clean. For gloss black finishes, use mild soap only. Perform periodic inspections to ensure all hardware remains secure and tight.
After installation, perform periodic inspections to verify that all hardware is secure and tight. The manual does not specify an inspection interval, but regular checks are recommended to maintain the integrity of the installation.
Yes, for 1997–04 Dodge Dakota Club Cab models only.
Yes, all fasteners are included. The installation reuses factory body bolts and washers.
