For the conqueror in every truck, Jeep or SUV owner, the ARIES grille guard offers the tough, trail-ready look you demand. It begins with a one-piece frame of 1/4" thick welded plates and 1-1/2" mandrel-bent tubing for a solid build. Each one is made with a vehicle-specific design for a better fit, easier install and more secure mounting. The side brush guards are custom-bent to contour to the profile of your vehicle, while the mounting brackets are positioned for a no-drill application. This means pre-existing factory holes are used to ensure optimum fitment and less vibration. This particular custom grille guard fits specific years of the Ford Ranger (see application info to verify). The ARIES grille guard also makes it easy to customize the look of your vehicle. Not only does the crossbar have two pre-drilled holes for mounting aftermarket LED lights, but many of our grille guards are also available in two finish options -- polished stainless steel or semi-gloss black steel. The stainless steel grille guard is made with 304 stainless, being high in nickel content and truly resistant to rust and corrosion. This option comes with a mirror-like polished finish for a definitive shine. The semi-gloss black grille guard is made with high-strength carbon steel for added strength. It features a tough, dual-layer E-coat and black powder coat finish to protect against rust, scratches and the elements. All ARIES grille guards also come with rubber stripping along the risers to protect the frame against scuffs and scratches.

The Curt 3044 grill guard is designed for 1998–2000 Ford Ranger and Mazda B-Series pickups. However, the upper brace brackets differ by vehicle type: Ford Ranger models use Ranger-specific brackets, while Mazda B-Series models use Mazda-specific brackets. You must select the correct bracket set for your vehicle during installation.
No. The installation procedure requires existing slotted holes in both sides of the frame just behind the bumper to attach the grill guard. If your vehicle does not have these holes, this grill guard cannot be installed using the standard method described in the manual.
The kit includes: two 12mm x 100mm hex bolts, four 12mm ID × 35mm OD flat washers, two 12mm lock nuts, two 10mm × 30mm hex bolts, four 10mm ID × 27mm OD flat washers, and two 10mm lock nuts. The 12mm fasteners attach the grill guard to the frame; the 10mm fasteners attach the upper brace brackets to the grill guard.
No, you do not need to remove the bumper. The factory bolts at the top back of the front bumper can be accessed either by reaching through the gap between the bottom of the grill and the top of the bumper, or from underneath the vehicle, depending on available space.
Yes. The manual states that assistance is needed when attaching the grill guard to the frame from underneath the vehicle.
Possibly. The manual notes that due to variances in plastic below the bumper, some models may need trimming or notching of the plastic to allow for adjustment of the grill guard. Whether this is necessary depends on your specific vehicle.
1. Verify all parts are present. 2. From underneath the vehicle, locate the slotted holes in the frame behind the bumper and attach the grill guard using the 12mm × 100mm hex bolts, 12mm flat washers, and 12mm lock nuts; snug but do not tighten. 3. Locate and remove the factory bolts at the top back of the front bumper, attach the correct upper brace brackets for your vehicle type using the factory bolts (snug but do not tighten), then secure the other ends of the brackets to the grill guard using the 10mm fasteners (snug but do not tighten). 4. Align the grill guard to the vehicle and tighten all hardware.
The manual provides a diagram showing bracket selection by vehicle type. Ford Ranger models use Ranger-specific driver (left) and passenger (right) upper brace brackets. Mazda B-Series models use Mazda-specific driver (left) and passenger (right) upper brace brackets. Refer to the diagram on page 1 to identify the correct brackets for your vehicle.
No. The manual instructs you to snug all hardware (frame attachment, factory bolts, and bracket-to-grill fasteners) but not tighten them at this stage. Only after aligning the grill guard to the vehicle should you tighten all hardware.
Wax the grill guard after installation and regularly thereafter to add a protective layer. Do not use any polish or wax containing abrasives, as these can damage the finish. For stainless steel finishes, aluminum polish may be used to polish small scratches and scuffs, and mild soap may be used for cleaning. For gloss black finishes, use only mild soap for cleaning.
After installation, perform periodic inspections to ensure all hardware is secure and tight. The manual recommends checking the installation regularly to verify that fasteners have not loosened.
