It begins with a one-piece frame of 1/4" thick welded plates and 1-1/2" mandrel-bent tubing for a solid build. Each one is made with a vehicle-specific design for a better fit, easier install and more secure mounting. The side brush guards are custom-bent to contour to the profile of your vehicle, while the mounting brackets are positioned for a no-drill application. This means pre-existing factory holes are used to ensure optimum fitment and less vibration. This particular custom grille guard fits specific years of the Ford Expedition and F150 (see application info to verify). The ARIES grille guard also makes it easy to customize the look of your vehicle. Not only does the crossbar have two pre-drilled holes for mounting aftermarket LED lights, but many of our grille guards are also available in two finish options -- polished stainless steel or semi-gloss black steel. The stainless steel grille guard is made with 304 stainless, being high in nickel content and truly resistant to rust and corrosion. This option comes with a mirror-like polished finish for a definitive shine. The semi-gloss black grille guard is made with high-strength carbon steel for added strength. It features a tough, dual-layer E-coat and black powder coat finish to protect against rust, scratches and the elements. All ARIES grille guards also come with rubber stripping along the risers to protect the frame against scuffs and scratches.

The kit includes: (1) front bar, (2) frame mount brackets, (2) small brace brackets, (2) large brace brackets, (6) 7/16" × 1¼" hex head bolts, (4) ½" × 1¼" hex head bolts, (2) 3/8" × 1" hex head bolts, (2) ¼" × ¾" button head bolts, (8) ½" flat washers, (12) 7/16" flat washers, (2) 3/8" flat washers, (4) ½" hex nuts, (6) 7/16" hex lock nuts, (2) 3/8" hex nuts, and (2) ¼" hex nuts.
No, you do not need to remove the bumper. The installation requires locating and removing only (2) factory bolts on the top back of the bumper between the bottom of the grill and top of the bumper. These bolts are reused to attach the brace brackets to the vehicle frame.
1. Attach both frame mount brackets to the frame rails using ½" hex bolts, washers and lock nuts. 2. Align and attach the front bar to the frame mount brackets using 7/16" hex bolts, washers and lock nuts; hand tighten. 3. Assemble the large and small brace brackets together using 3/8" bolts, washers and nuts; hand tighten. 4. Remove the two factory bolts from the top back of the bumper and reuse one to attach the passenger-side brace bracket to the frame; attach the brace bracket to the front bar with a ¼" button head bolt and hand tighten. 5. Repeat step 4 for the driver side. 6. Align the front bar to the bumper, then fully tighten all six front bar bolts and the four brace bracket bolts.
Hand tighten first. Steps 2, 3, and 4 specify hand tightening the front bar bolts, brace bracket assembly bolts, and brace bracket attachment bolts. Only after aligning the front bar to the vehicle bumper in step 6 should you fully tighten the (6) bolts supporting the front bar and the (4) brace bracket bolts.
First, assemble the large and small brace brackets together using one 3/8" × 1" bolt, one 3/8" flat washer, and one 3/8" nut per set; hand tighten. Then, for each side, attach the assembled brace bracket to the vehicle frame by reusing one of the two factory bolts removed from the top back of the bumper. Simultaneously, attach the brace bracket to the backside of the center plate on the front bar using one ¼" × ¾" button head bolt and one ¼" nut; hand tighten. Final tightening occurs after the front bar is aligned to the bumper.
Six bolts total: three on each side. Each side uses (3) 7/16" × 1¼" hex head bolts, (6) 7/16" flat washers (three per side), and (3) 7/16" hex lock nuts. These bolts are hand tightened initially and fully tightened after the front bar is aligned to the bumper.
After assembling and attaching all brackets and bolts (but while they are still hand-tightened), position the left and right sides of the front bar so it is centered relative to the vehicle bumper. Once you are satisfied with the alignment, proceed to fully tighten the (6) bolts supporting the front bar and the (4) brace bracket bolts to complete the installation.
The ARIES 3046 has a high finish that must be maintained like any other high-finish product on the vehicle. Protect the finish with a non-abrasive automotive wax. Do not use soap, polish, or wax containing abrasives, as these compounds scratch the finish and open it to corrosion.
