The BX88271 is a fuse bypass switch made by Blue Ox for towed vehicles. It allows you to disconnect a specific circuit (via fuse removal) when towing, and reconnect it when driving the vehicle normally. The switch mounts near the fuse panel and controls whether the removed fuse circuit is on or off.
The BX88271 can be installed on a Jeep Cherokee, but only if the vehicle already has the MOPAR Power Steering Recall Kit installed. This is a mandatory prerequisite before installing the fuse bypass switch.
Yes, the BX88271 can be installed on Honda vehicles including Honda CRV. However, Honda vehicles have specific installation requirements: the wire pins must be pressed to the outside edges of the fuse opening (not the bottom), and you must purchase an ATM Mini fuse of the same rating as the original equipment fuse, since Honda uses ATM Micro Mini fuses. The fuse pins must be directly placed into the holder's terminals.

Drill a 3/4" diameter hole into the plastic panel using a flat power auger. Avoid drilling into or damaging any nearby wiring.
Install the two small wire pins into the fuse panel location from where you removed the fuse. Press in on the pins until fully seated. On Honda vehicles, press the wire pins to the outside edges of the fuse opening since these panels have connectors on the sides, not at the bottom. Ensure the fuse panel cover can be replaced. If necessary, use wire ties to hold the wiring firmly in place to ensure a firm physical and electrical connection.
Place the switch into the 3/4" hole and install the mounting nut with the serrated side towards the panel. Hand tighten the nut. Then reattach the wires to the switch by sliding the connectors over the terminals.
Slide the black split loom over the wiring connections and secure with electrical tape if necessary. Additionally, tape the wiring if there is any exposed metal in the immediate area of the switch to prevent shorts.
Hand tighten the mounting nut only. The manual does not specify a torque value beyond hand tightening.
Never install a fuse with more than a 20 amp rating in the fuse bypass switch harness. The amperage of the fuse must always match the fuse you removed from the towed vehicle's fuse panel.
