Blue Ox is known internationally for recreational and commercial towing products, manufacturing in Pender, Nebraska since 1925. The line covers tow bars and vehicle-specific baseplates for flat towing behind a motorhome, sway control and weight distributing hitches, supplemental braking accessories and towing wiring, backed by patented designs and long-standing customer service.
Blue Ox has manufactured since 1925 and is recognised internationally for towing products and customer service. The company operates from Pender, Nebraska, where it grew out of Automatic Manufacturing Co., a business that started with cattle oilers and developed into agricultural equipment, tractor accessories and trailer towing hardware. That agricultural engineering heritage still shows in how the towing products are built, and the company holds patents across weight distribution, fifth wheel and tow bar designs.
Flat towing is the discipline Blue Ox is best known for. Towing a car with all four wheels on the ground behind a motorhome demands a system that stays rigid under braking, articulates properly over uneven ground, and connects to the towed vehicle at points strong enough to take the load. Blue Ox tow bars handle the first two, with self-aligning arms that latch under tension and release without a struggle when the load is off them. Vehicle-specific baseplates handle the third, engineered per make and model to tie into structural mounting points behind the fascia.
The wider flat towing range covers supplemental braking systems, safety cables and the accessories that make a complete legal setup, along with baseplate wiring and dinghy towing harnesses that pass lighting signals to the towed vehicle without back-feeding its electrical system.
For conventional trailer towing, Blue Ox weight distributing hitches with integrated sway control transfer tongue load onto the tow vehicle's front axle and resist the yaw that crosswinds and passing trucks induce.

The BX88357 is an aftermarket off-road bumper adapter with a 7/8" pin and a 15,000 lb. tow rating. It is designed to connect aftermarket bumpers to Blue Ox tow bars by replacing the existing tow bar leg hardware with offset double lugs that accommodate aftermarket bumper tabs.
The BX88357 is recommended for use with aftermarket bumpers that have a tab thickness of 5/8" to 1". The minimum tab hole diameter is 0.871" and the maximum is 0.934".
Yes. When using a Blue Ox adapter to flat tow a vehicle by the aftermarket bumper, it is the customer's responsibility to contact the bumper manufacturer and verify that the vehicle can be towed by the aftermarket bumper. This is a critical safety step before installation.
You will need a 3/4" socket and a 3/4" wrench to remove the existing hardware and install the adapter.
The kit includes: two 7/8" offset double lugs (102-7543), six 1/8" bushings (107-3619), two 1/2"-13 x 2" hex head bolts (201-0645), two 1/2"-13 Esna jam nuts (202-0143), two 3/16" x 1-1/4" linch pins (229-0829), two 7/8" diameter x 2-11/16" effective pins (229-0937), and four washers 0.523 ID x 1.363 OD (290-0381).
You must remove the existing 1/2"-13 bolt and 1/2"-13 jam nut from each tow bar leg using a 3/4" socket and wrench. Also remove the existing lug and washers from both tow bar legs.
Install the offset double lug onto the tow bar leg with the new washers, the 1/2"-13 x 2" bolt, and the 1/2"-13 jam nut provided. Tighten the bolt until the lug is tight against the washers but can still freely move side to side. Repeat on both tow bar legs.
The offset must be oriented towards the outside of the tow bar. This is shown by the gray arrow in the installation diagram on page 1.
Use the supplied 1/8" bushings between the bumper attachment plate and the lug if the bumper attachment plate is 5/8" to 7/8" thick. This ensures proper fit and spacing.
The BX88357 is designed for aftermarket bumpers with tab thickness of 5/8" to 1" and tab hole diameter between 0.871" and 0.934". You must contact your bumper manufacturer to verify your vehicle can be towed by the aftermarket bumper before installation.
