Blue Ox is known internationally for recreational and commercial towing products, manufacturing in Pender, Nebraska since 1925. Blue Ox has manufactured since 1925 and is recognised internationally for towing products and customer service. Flat towing is the discipline Blue Ox is best known for. Towing a car with all four wheels on the ground behind a motorhome demands a system that stays rigid under braking, articulates properly over uneven ground, and connects to the towed vehicle at points strong enough to take the load. Blue Ox tow bars handle the first two, with self-aligning arms that latch under tension and release without a struggle when the load is off them. Vehicle-specific baseplates handle the third, engineered per make and model to tie into structural mounting points behind the fascia.

Yes, the bumper must be removed during installation. Using a 12MM socket, remove the four bolts from the metal bumper (two on top, one on the side, one underneath) on both sides of the vehicle. The bumper will not be reinstalled for baseplate clearance.

Permanent baseplate safety cables are strongly recommended when towing a vehicle with a tow bar. The BX2232 kit includes two class III safety cables (226-0046) and two 3/8" quicklinks (229-0359). The cables must be connected from the baseplate to the frame rail or cross member of the vehicle's frame and must not be mounted against wires, hoses or brake lines. The permanent baseplate safety cables are to be used in conjunction with, and not as a replacement for, legally required safety cables attaching the towed vehicle to the towing vehicle.
Attach the permanent baseplate safety cables to the provided convenience link on the baseplate. The cables should be secured to a solid piece of the frame of the vehicle. The manual shows two recommended installation options: Option 1 uses a quicklink to attach the cable around a crossmember or frame of the towed vehicle, and Option 2 is for baseplates without convenience link tabs. Ensure the safety cables do not rub against any hoses or moving parts. Do this on both sides of the vehicle.
Before reinstalling the fascia, ensure that all electrical connections are plugged in and accessories are functioning properly. On SC Element models, the back side of the fascia may need to be trimmed by the tab sockets. If trimming is needed, use a utility knife carefully to trim the fascia back side.
Before reinstalling the fascia, ensure that all electrical connections are plugged in and accessories are functioning properly. If electrical connections are not functioning, disconnect the fascia again, check that all connectors are fully seated and plugged in, and verify that no wires were damaged during fascia removal or installation. Test all accessories before reinstalling the fascia.
