Blue Ox is known internationally for recreational and commercial towing products, manufacturing in Pender, Nebraska since 1925. The line covers tow bars and vehicle-specific baseplates for flat towing behind a motorhome, sway control and weight distributing hitches, supplemental braking accessories and towing wiring, backed by patented designs and long-standing customer service.
Blue Ox has manufactured since 1925 and is recognised internationally for towing products and customer service. The company operates from Pender, Nebraska, where it grew out of Automatic Manufacturing Co., a business that started with cattle oilers and developed into agricultural equipment, tractor accessories and trailer towing hardware. That agricultural engineering heritage still shows in how the towing products are built, and the company holds patents across weight distribution, fifth wheel and tow bar designs.
Flat towing is the discipline Blue Ox is best known for. Towing a car with all four wheels on the ground behind a motorhome demands a system that stays rigid under braking, articulates properly over uneven ground, and connects to the towed vehicle at points strong enough to take the load. Blue Ox tow bars handle the first two, with self-aligning arms that latch under tension and release without a struggle when the load is off them. Vehicle-specific baseplates handle the third, engineered per make and model to tie into structural mounting points behind the fascia.
The wider flat towing range covers supplemental braking systems, safety cables and the accessories that make a complete legal setup, along with baseplate wiring and dinghy towing harnesses that pass lighting signals to the towed vehicle without back-feeding its electrical system.
For conventional trailer towing, Blue Ox weight distributing hitches with integrated sway control transfer tongue load onto the tow vehicle's front axle and resist the yaw that crosswinds and passing trucks induce.
The company describes its foundation as customer service, designing around what owners actually ask for, and it runs an RV park adjacent to the factory where customers can stay. Sister operations at the same Nebraska site include Automatic grain roller mills and MAD-RAMPS pivoting ramp systems.

The attachment tab height is 18 inches and the width is 27-1/2 inches.
Required tools include: torque wrench, drill with 1/4" bit, rivet gun, tape measure, large vise grip, flat and Phillips screwdrivers, utility knife, and sockets/wrenches in the following sizes: 8MM, 10MM, 13MM, 16MM, 17MM, 30MM, 3/8", 7/16", and 9/16". No. Do not assume existing holes and bolts are adequate for baseplate mounting. Always use the hardware supplied in the hardware kit and existing hardware only as specified in the installation instructions. Using incorrect fasteners could compromise safety.
Yes. Drilling is required. For 2021-2026 models, you must drill out aluminum pop rivets in front of the tire on both sides using a 1/4" drill bit. For 2014-2020 models, you may need to drill out metal rivets on the fascia. Additionally, some models require drilling out locking knobs.
Yes. Trimming is required. For 2014-2020 models, trim the plastic support on the backside of the fascia for baseplate clearance. For 2021-2024 models, hold the plastic shield up and trim it approximately 3 inches for baseplate clearance. Additionally, you must mark and trim the fascia around the convenience links and attachment tabs before reinstalling.
Yes. Use a good quality paint to spray cut edges of the frame to prevent rusting. This is especially important for any frame cuts made during installation.
The BX2411 uses two types of spacer tubes: 3/4" diameter x 1-23/32" long (part 107-3184, qty 4) and 3/4" diameter x 3" long (part 107-3496, qty 4). Which tubes you use depends on whether your vehicle has factory tow hooks. Refer to page 3 for the correct configuration for your model.

The cables must be connected from the baseplate to the frame rail or cross member of the vehicle's frame. Ensure the safety cables do not rub against any hoses or moving parts. Do this on both sides of the vehicle. The cables are strongly recommended and must remain installed as long as the baseplate is on the vehicle. The baseplate is computer tested to your vehicle's GVWR. Exceeding this weight will void the manufacturer's warranty. Refer to your vehicle owner's manual for manufacturer's towing specifications.
Permanent baseplate safety cables are strongly recommended when towing a vehicle with a tow bar. They prevent the towed vehicle from breaking loose if the connection between the frame and baseplate fails. The cables must be connected from the baseplate to the frame rail or cross member and must not be mounted against wires, hoses, or brake lines. They work in conjunction with, not as a replacement for, legally required safety cables.
When using power drills, be aware of the dangers of torque and drill bit length. When using a reciprocating saw, be aware of objects behind the cutting surface. Wear protective covers and use rags and specialty tools as needed to prevent damage to cosmetic parts.
Before reinstalling the fascia, ensure that all electrical connections are plugged in and accessories are functioning properly. After installation, inspect all towing equipment for cracked welds, missing or worn parts, and loose bolts before each towing trip. Use Loctite Red on all bolts and tighten to the recommended specifications.
