Blue Ox is known internationally for recreational and commercial towing products, manufacturing in Pender, Nebraska since 1925. The line covers tow bars and vehicle-specific baseplates for flat towing behind a motorhome, sway control and weight distributing hitches, supplemental braking accessories and towing wiring, backed by patented designs and long-standing customer service.
Blue Ox has manufactured since 1925 and is recognised internationally for towing products and customer service. The company operates from Pender, Nebraska, where it grew out of Automatic Manufacturing Co., a business that started with cattle oilers and developed into agricultural equipment, tractor accessories and trailer towing hardware. That agricultural engineering heritage still shows in how the towing products are built, and the company holds patents across weight distribution, fifth wheel and tow bar designs.
Flat towing is the discipline Blue Ox is best known for. Towing a car with all four wheels on the ground behind a motorhome demands a system that stays rigid under braking, articulates properly over uneven ground, and connects to the towed vehicle at points strong enough to take the load. Blue Ox tow bars handle the first two, with self-aligning arms that latch under tension and release without a struggle when the load is off them. Vehicle-specific baseplates handle the third, engineered per make and model to tie into structural mounting points behind the fascia.
The wider flat towing range covers supplemental braking systems, safety cables and the accessories that make a complete legal setup, along with baseplate wiring and dinghy towing harnesses that pass lighting signals to the towed vehicle without back-feeding its electrical system.
For conventional trailer towing, Blue Ox weight distributing hitches with integrated sway control transfer tongue load onto the tow vehicle's front axle and resist the yaw that crosswinds and passing trucks induce.

The BXR9009 is an OEM Gooseneck to Blue Ox Fifth Wheel Adapter kit that allows you to connect a Blue Ox BXR2100 Fifth Wheel Hitch to a truck equipped with an OEM Gooseneck housing. It converts the gooseneck connection to a fifth wheel connection.
The BXR9009 is designed to work with the Blue Ox BXR2100 Fifth Wheel Hitch. The installation instructions specify that the BXR2100 must be installed after the adapter is inserted into the OEM Gooseneck housing.
The BXR9009 kit includes: one Manual Package (63-4978), one 1-1/2" DIA x 1/4" L Spring Retainer (190-0254), one 1/2" OD x 1" L x .062" Wire DIA Compression Spring, Stainless Steel (222-0191), two 3/4" DIA 440C Balls, Stainless Steel (229-1153), one 1-1/2" ID Internal Retaining Ring, Yellow Zinc Plated (229-1233), one GN to 5th Wheel OEM Adapter Shank, Zinc Plated (299-0922), and one OEM Adapter Push Ball Lock Shaft, Zinc Plated (299-0923).
The installation instructions do not mention any tools being required. The installation process involves pressing a button on top of the adapter and inserting it into the OEM Gooseneck housing by hand.
Follow these steps: 1. Press the button on top of the adapter. 2. Insert the adapter into the OEM Gooseneck housing. 3. Release the button. 4. Pull on the adapter to ensure it is fully locked in the OEM Gooseneck before use. 5. Install the Blue Ox BXR2100 Fifth Wheel Hitch.
After releasing the button, pull on the adapter. If it is fully locked, it will not come out. The manual instructs you to pull on the adapter to ensure it is fully locked in the OEM Gooseneck before use.
First, insert the BXR9009 adapter into the OEM Gooseneck housing and verify it is fully locked. Then, install the Blue Ox BXR2100 Fifth Wheel Hitch onto the adapter.
Follow these steps: 1. Remove the BXR2100 from the adapter. 2. Press the button on top of the adapter. 3. Remove the adapter from the OEM Gooseneck housing.
Failure to read and follow the installation instructions could result in separation of the trailer from the truck, causing property damage, loss of towed vehicle, personal injury or death. Ensure the adapter is fully locked in the OEM Gooseneck housing before towing.

No tools are required. The adapter is installed by hand using a button-press mechanism.
