Blue Ox has manufactured since 1925 and is recognised internationally for towing products and customer service. 1. Remove turn signal lenses and bulbs using T15 torax. 2. Remove screws below side turn signals and six bumper mounting nuts. 3. Remove lower bolts from bumper shock absorber mounts. 4. Loosely install left and right outer mounts using 8mm x 50mm bolts and lock washers. 5. Remove lower middle bolt from center motor mount. 6. Install base tube weldment with 10mm x 50mm bolt through center mount. 7. Align and start 1/2 x 1 3/4 bolts through outer mounts and base tube. 8. Drill 3/8" holes through frame for rear outer mount bolts. 9. Install 3/8 bolts, nuts, and washers. 10. Apply Locktite and tighten all bolts securely. 11. Replace bumper and turn signal lights.
Bolts should be started loosely first. Step 8 specifies to "loosely install" the outer mounts. Step 11 says to "start" the 1/2 x 1 3/4 bolts. Only after all bolts align and Locktite is applied should they be tightened securely (Step 15).
Locktite Blue is applied to all bolts before final tightening to secure them and prevent loosening. The manual specifies applying Locktite when all bolts align, then tightening securely.
The manual notes that dimensional variations between otherwise identical cars can be considerable. If a bolt does not clear, it may be necessary to file a hole slightly to allow alignment. This is a normal part of the installation process.
