Blue Ox is known internationally for recreational and commercial towing products, manufacturing in Pender, Nebraska since 1925. The line covers tow bars and vehicle-specific baseplates for flat towing behind a motorhome, sway control and weight distributing hitches, supplemental braking accessories and towing wiring, backed by patented designs and long-standing customer service.
Blue Ox has manufactured since 1925 and is recognised internationally for towing products and customer service. The company operates from Pender, Nebraska, where it grew out of Automatic Manufacturing Co., a business that started with cattle oilers and developed into agricultural equipment, tractor accessories and trailer towing hardware. Flat towing is the discipline Blue Ox is best known for. Towing a car with all four wheels on the ground behind a motorhome demands a system that stays rigid under braking, articulates properly over uneven ground, and connects to the towed vehicle at points strong enough to take the load. Blue Ox tow bars handle the first two, with self-aligning arms that latch under tension and release without a struggle when the load is off them. Vehicle-specific baseplates handle the third, engineered per make and model to tie into structural mounting points behind the fascia.
The wider flat towing range covers supplemental braking systems, safety cables and the accessories that make a complete legal setup, along with baseplate wiring and dinghy towing harnesses that pass lighting signals to the towed vehicle without back-feeding its electrical system.

No. Due to the design of the removable tabs on the BX2621, the RangeFinderII tow bar cannot be used with this baseplate.
Most adapters cannot be used with the BX2621 baseplate due to its removable tab design. The exceptions are the BX8833 and BX88151 adapters, which are compatible.

Yes. Drilling is required. You will need to drill out two spot welds on each side of the bumper using a 1/4" drill bit, and drill two holes on the bottom of the baseplate and three holes on the side of the baseplate using a 13/32" drill bit.
Yes. Trimming is required. You must cut out horizontal pieces from the fascia using a hacksaw blade to allow the attachment tabs to come through. If installing the optional breakaway bracket, an additional horizontal piece must be cut from the fascia to accommodate it.
Yes. Using a vise grip, you must bend the two inside tabs on the frame rail out flat with the frame. On top of the frame rail, bend the center ribbing toward the radiator approximately 6" back from the end. After mounting the baseplate, bend the two tabs back. These modifications are necessary to accommodate the baseplate and may be permanent depending on the vehicle's tolerances.
The manual notes that dimensional variations between otherwise identical vehicles can be considerable. Minor adjustments may include filing a hole slightly, bending electrical rods, or bending end plates to tailor the baseplate to your specific vehicle.
According to the bolt torque specifications table, 3/8"-16 Grade 5 bolts should be torqued to 33 foot-pounds. If your vehicle is equipped with a temperature sensor on the top of the bumper, unclip it and move it aside during bumper removal (Step 6). After the bumper is reinstalled, relocate the temperature sensor on the passenger's side to the bottom of the bumper using existing holes (Step 13).
The electrical plug should be installed on the front of the fascia after the fascia has been cut to accommodate the attachment tabs (Step 15). Ensure that all electrical connections are plugged in properly and functioning before installing the fascia.

If the baseplate is in an accident, it must be replaced. Do not use it again. An accident can cause unseen damage and using it again could result in more damage or serious injury. Do not use the baseplate if it is damaged or missing parts.
The permanent baseplate safety cables must be connected from the baseplate to the frame rail or cross member of the vehicle's frame. Attach the cables to the provided convenience link on the baseplate and secure them to a solid piece of the vehicle's frame. Do not mount the cables against wires, hoses, or brake lines. The cables should remain installed as long as the baseplate is installed on the vehicle.
It is the owner's responsibility to inspect all towing equipment for cracked welds, missing or worn parts, and loose bolts before each towing trip. Be sure to use Loctite Red on all bolts and tighten them to the recommended specifications.
Yes. Remove the attachment tabs when not in use, if applicable. This helps protect them and reduces wind resistance when the baseplate is not being used for towing.
Blue Ox offers a three-year limited warranty from the date of delivery to the original retail purchaser. The warranty covers defects in material and workmanship under normal use and service. Warranty coverage is valid only if the customer warranty card is returned within 30 days of purchase and a copy of the original invoice accompanies any claim. The warranty does not cover incorrect or improper installation, improper use, modification, neglect, normal wear and tear, paint, or rust.
