Blue Ox is known internationally for recreational and commercial towing products, manufacturing in Pender, Nebraska since 1925. The line covers tow bars and vehicle-specific baseplates for flat towing behind a motorhome, sway control and weight distributing hitches, supplemental braking accessories and towing wiring, backed by patented designs and long-standing customer service.
Blue Ox has manufactured since 1925 and is recognised internationally for towing products and customer service. The company operates from Pender, Nebraska, where it grew out of Automatic Manufacturing Co., a business that started with cattle oilers and developed into agricultural equipment, tractor accessories and trailer towing hardware. That agricultural engineering heritage still shows in how the towing products are built, and the company holds patents across weight distribution, fifth wheel and tow bar designs.
Flat towing is the discipline Blue Ox is best known for. Towing a car with all four wheels on the ground behind a motorhome demands a system that stays rigid under braking, articulates properly over uneven ground, and connects to the towed vehicle at points strong enough to take the load. Blue Ox tow bars handle the first two, with self-aligning arms that latch under tension and release without a struggle when the load is off them. Vehicle-specific baseplates handle the third, engineered per make and model to tie into structural mounting points behind the fascia.
The wider flat towing range covers supplemental braking systems, safety cables and the accessories that make a complete legal setup, along with baseplate wiring and dinghy towing harnesses that pass lighting signals to the towed vehicle without back-feeding its electrical system.
For conventional trailer towing, Blue Ox weight distributing hitches with integrated sway control transfer tongue load onto the tow vehicle's front axle and resist the yaw that crosswinds and passing trucks induce.
The company describes its foundation as customer service, designing around what owners actually ask for, and it runs an RV park adjacent to the factory where customers can stay. Sister operations at the same Nebraska site include Automatic grain roller mills and MAD-RAMPS pivoting ramp systems.

Motorhome mount tow bars are recommended for use with the BX2607. The Acclaim tow bar may be used but will not fold and store on the front of the vehicle. The RangeFinderII, Adventurer, and Ambassador tow bars cannot be used with this baseplate due to the design of the removable tabs.
Most adapters cannot be used with the BX2607 baseplate. Only the BX8833 and BX88151 adapters are compatible. All other adapters are not compatible with this baseplate.
Required tools are: 8mm socket, 10mm socket, 9/16" socket, Phillips screwdriver, 1-1/4" hole saw, 13/32" drill bit, and hack saw blade. Loctite RED is also required for all bolts before tightening.

Yes. The fascia, guard, washer reservoir, bolts, push pins and screws must be removed for installation. These components are reinstalled after baseplate installation is complete.
Yes. The washer reservoir must be removed during installation. The top right metric bolt will not be reinstalled, and the tab must be trimmed off using a hack saw blade. Before reinstalling the washer reservoir, the top right installation tab must be cut off approximately 1-1/2" x 1-1/2". After trimming, reconnect all hoses and electrical connections.
Yes, drilling is required. You will drill two 1-1/4" holes using a hole saw (one on each side of the vehicle under the bumper), and then drill multiple 13/32" holes for bolt attachment. Due to compact space underneath the baseplate, drilling at an angle may be required.
Yes, trimming is required. You must use a hack saw blade to cut plastic pieces under the bumper on both sides (Step 8), trim the washer reservoir tab (Step 7), and cut off the top right installation tab of the washer reservoir approximately 1-1/2" x 1-1/2" before reinstalling it (Step 13).
1. Remove metric bolts and push pins from fascia (both sides). 2. Remove screws forward of front tires (both sides). 3. Remove screws and bolt from underneath (driver's side: 2 screws; passenger side: 2 screws and 1 bolt). 4. Remove four push pins holding plastic guard. 5. Remove three bolts and pull fascia forward. 6. Remove washer reservoir bolts and trim tab. 7. Cut plastic under bumper and remove push pins (both sides). 8. Drill 1-1/4" holes in bottom round holes (both sides). 9. Slide baseplate up from bottom and clamp. 10. Ensure baseplate is level and drill 13/32" holes. 11. Attach safety cables to baseplate and frame. 15. Reinstall fascia, guard, bolts, push pins and screws.
The manual provides a torque chart for Grade 5 and Grade 8 bolts in inch sizes, but does not explicitly specify which grade applies to the 3/8"-16 bolts used in this installation. The chart shows: Grade 5 at 33 foot-pounds and Grade 8 at 47 foot-pounds. All bolts must be tightened with Loctite RED. Contact Blue Ox Technical Service at (402) 385-3051 to confirm the correct grade and torque specification for your installation.
The attachment tab height is 13-1/2" and the attachment tab width is 22".
The BX8848 4-Diode Wiring Kit is recommended for this vehicle.
Yes. All electrical connections must be plugged in properly and functioning before installing the fascia. This is critical to ensure proper operation of the towing system.
If the baseplate is in an accident, it must be replaced. Do not use it again. An accident can cause unseen damage, and using it again could result in more damage or serious injury. Do not use the baseplate if it is damaged or missing parts.
Permanent baseplate safety cables are strongly recommended when towing a vehicle with a tow bar. They must be connected from the baseplate to the frame rail or cross member of the vehicle's frame. The cables must remain installed as long as the baseplate is installed. They are to be used in conjunction with, and not as a replacement for, legally required safety cables attaching the towed vehicle to the towing vehicle. Do not mount the cables against wires, hoses or brake lines.
No. Do not use the towed vehicle for storing luggage, equipment, etc. This may cause you to exceed the towing capacity of the tow bar, baseplate, and its accessories.
Ensure the baseplate is level across the top with respect to the vehicle frame and positioned as far up as possible. Verify all electrical connections are plugged in properly and functioning before reinstalling the fascia. Ensure all bolts are tightened with Loctite RED to the recommended torque specifications. Verify that safety cables do not rub against any hoses or moving parts.
It is the owner's responsibility to inspect all towing equipment for cracked welds, missing or worn parts and loose bolts before each towing trip. Be sure to use Loctite RED on all bolts and tighten to the recommended specifications. Permanent baseplate safety cables should remain installed as long as the baseplate is installed on the vehicle.
