Blue Ox is known internationally for recreational and commercial towing products, manufacturing in Pender, Nebraska since 1925. The line covers tow bars and vehicle-specific baseplates for flat towing behind a motorhome, sway control and weight distributing hitches, supplemental braking accessories and towing wiring, backed by patented designs and long-standing customer service.
Blue Ox has manufactured since 1925 and is recognised internationally for towing products and customer service. The company operates from Pender, Nebraska, where it grew out of Automatic Manufacturing Co., a business that started with cattle oilers and developed into agricultural equipment, tractor accessories and trailer towing hardware. That agricultural engineering heritage still shows in how the towing products are built, and the company holds patents across weight distribution, fifth wheel and tow bar designs.
Flat towing is the discipline Blue Ox is best known for. Towing a car with all four wheels on the ground behind a motorhome demands a system that stays rigid under braking, articulates properly over uneven ground, and connects to the towed vehicle at points strong enough to take the load. Blue Ox tow bars handle the first two, with self-aligning arms that latch under tension and release without a struggle when the load is off them. Vehicle-specific baseplates handle the third, engineered per make and model to tie into structural mounting points behind the fascia.
The wider flat towing range covers supplemental braking systems, safety cables and the accessories that make a complete legal setup, along with baseplate wiring and dinghy towing harnesses that pass lighting signals to the towed vehicle without back-feeding its electrical system.
For conventional trailer towing, Blue Ox weight distributing hitches with integrated sway control transfer tongue load onto the tow vehicle's front axle and resist the yaw that crosswinds and passing trucks induce.
The company describes its foundation as customer service, designing around what owners actually ask for, and it runs an RV park adjacent to the factory where customers can stay. Sister operations at the same Nebraska site include Automatic grain roller mills and MAD-RAMPS pivoting ramp systems.

Yes, the BX2327 is designed specifically for the 2007 Hyundai Tiburon GT V6. However, you must confirm that your vehicle's weight does not exceed the Class III 5,000 lb. rating. Some 2007 Tiburon models with certain options may exceed this limit. Check your vehicle's actual weight before towing.
No. Tow bar adapters are not to be used with vehicles weighing over 5,000 lbs. Since the 2007 Tiburon GT V6 is near the Class III 5,000 lb. rating and some models may exceed it, you should confirm your vehicle's weight first. If your vehicle exceeds 5,000 lbs., you must use the Aventa II or Aventa LX tow bar instead of an adapter.
The attachment tab height is 12 1/2" and the attachment tab width is 24".
The kit includes: 6× 10MM-1.25 x 44MM Grade 8.8 bolts (part 201-0495), 6× 10MM lock washers (part 203-0104), 2× #12-14 x 1" self-drilling screws (part 201-0979), 2× #10-32 x 1/2" slot round head screws (part 201-0192), 2× #10 lock washers (part 203-0054), 2× #10-32 hex nuts (part 202-0047), 2× 4-way connector adapters (part 101-5822), 2× attachment tab assemblies (part 62-3469), 2× permanent baseplate safety cables Class III (part 226-0046), 2× 3/8" quick links (part 229-0359), and 2× cap plugs (part 290-0437).
Required tools are: Phillips screwdriver, 8MM socket, 10MM socket, 12MM socket, 17MM socket, vise grip, hack saw, reciprocating saw, hammer, and Loctite RED.
Yes. The fascia, metal bumper, and headlights must be removed during installation and then reinstalled. This is a significant part of the installation process and is required to access the mounting points and perform the necessary trimming.
Yes, drilling is required. The installation notes explicitly state that drilling is required for this baseplate.
Yes, trimming of the fascia is required. You must trim the fascia in two ways: (1) use a reciprocating saw to remove material between the 4" and 5 3/4" marks on the front, and (2) trim out areas for the convenience links for safety cables and receivers for the removable attachment tabs using a hack saw. These modifications are permanent.
Measure and mark 4" and 5 3/4" on the front of the bumper area. Also measure and mark 8 1/2" from the top. Use a reciprocating saw to trim out the material between the 4" and 5 3/4" marks, then bend the remaining metal down to the 8 1/2" mark towards the back of the car using a hammer. Perform this on both sides of the vehicle.
The removal sequence is: (1) remove eight plastic push pins and two hex bolts from the top plastic piece, (2) remove three metric bolts from each headlight assembly, (3) unplug headlights and remove five plastic push pins under each headlight assembly, (4) remove two hex bolts from inside each headlight assembly, (5) remove one hex bolt forward of each front tire, (6) remove two push pins on the lower edge of fascia on each side, (7) remove plastic push pin under fog lights and remove fascia, (8) remove two bolts connecting bumper to frame on each side and one bolt on top of bumper on each side, and (9) remove toe hook on both sides using a 17MM socket.
Slide the baseplate onto the frame to align with existing holes for the tie-down bracket on each side. Place the tie-down bracket over the top of the baseplate to align with holes. Begin replacing the 10MM bolts and lock washers provided. Apply Loctite RED to all bolts before tightening. Tighten all bolts according to the torque chart. Reinstall the toe hook on both sides. Ensure all electrical connections are plugged in properly and functioning before reinstalling the fascia.
Install the permanent safety cables around the tube and quick link. Install the permanent safety cables through the receiver tube, around the frame cross member, and secure with quick link ends. The cables must be connected from the baseplate to the frame rail or cross member. Do not mount the cables against wires, hoses, or brake lines. These cables should remain installed as long as the baseplate is installed and are in addition to, not a replacement for, legally required safety cables attaching the towed vehicle to the towing vehicle.
According to the torque chart on page 1, a 10MM Grade 8.8 metric bolt should be torqued to 31 foot-pounds. However, the installation instructions reference a torque chart on page 3 of the Baseplate Towing General Instructions, which is not included in this manual. Consult the complete General Instructions for the final torque specification, or contact Blue Ox Customer Care at (888) 425-5382.
Unplug the headlight connectors by pushing on the connection before removing the headlight assemblies. After installing the baseplate and before reinstalling the fascia, ensure that all electrical connections are plugged in properly and functioning. The manual recommends the BX8848 Diode Kit for this vehicle to manage electrical compatibility.
Before each towing trip, inspect all towing equipment for cracked welds, missing or worn parts, and loose bolts. Ensure Loctite RED is used on all bolts and that they are tightened to the recommended specifications. Confirm the towability and pre-towing procedures for your vehicle with the owner's manual or contact the vehicle's manufacturer. You can also contact REMCO at 1(800)228-2481 for additional information.
No. The permanent baseplate safety cables are strongly recommended and should remain installed as long as the baseplate is installed. However, they are to be used in conjunction with, and NOT as a replacement for, legally required safety cables that attach the towed vehicle to the towing vehicle.
Before reinstalling the fascia, ensure that all electrical connections are plugged in properly and functioning. This is critical because the headlights and other electrical components must work correctly before the fascia is put back in place.
Yes, you should register your baseplate online at www.blueox.com. Registration is crucial so that you may be alerted of product offerings, updates, upgrades, maintenance and safety bulletins, and/or recalls.
Remove the attachment tabs when not in use. The manual shows the baseplate both with and without removable tabs installed.
No. Use only genuine factory replacement parts on your baseplate. Do not substitute homemade or non-typical parts. If a bolt is lost or needs replacement, use a replacement bolt of the same grade (in most cases Grade 5). Replacement parts may be ordered through your nearest Blue Ox Dealer or Distributor.
Yes. Blue Ox towing products and accessories are intended to be installed by Blue Ox Dealers who are familiar with the products and have the equipment and knowledge to do 'fit work.' Blue Ox Dealers can be found at www.blueox.us or by contacting Blue Ox Customer Care at (888) 425-5382.
Hold the fascia as close to its original position as possible and trim out the areas for the convenience links for safety cables and receivers for the removable attachment tabs using a hack saw. Then reinstall the fascia. Ensure all electrical connections are plugged in and functioning before reinstalling the fascia.
Install the tow bar according to the instructions provided in its package. When demonstrating the tow bar to the customer, be sure to include all the contents and packages. Do not substitute other devices if the tow bar pins and clips are misplaced.
Do not mount the permanent baseplate safety cables against wires, hoses, or brake lines. It is the installer's responsibility to watch for oil cooler and air conditioner lines, electrical wires and hoses, and missing parts or attaching points on the frame. If the baseplate is improperly installed against a wire or hose, it could cause fluid leaks or electrical shorts some time after installation.
