Blue Ox is known internationally for recreational and commercial towing products, manufacturing in Pender, Nebraska since 1925. The line covers tow bars and vehicle-specific baseplates for flat towing behind a motorhome, sway control and weight distributing hitches, supplemental braking accessories and towing wiring, backed by patented designs and long-standing customer service.
Blue Ox has manufactured since 1925 and is recognised internationally for towing products and customer service. The company operates from Pender, Nebraska, where it grew out of Automatic Manufacturing Co., a business that started with cattle oilers and developed into agricultural equipment, tractor accessories and trailer towing hardware. That agricultural engineering heritage still shows in how the towing products are built, and the company holds patents across weight distribution, fifth wheel and tow bar designs.
Flat towing is the discipline Blue Ox is best known for. Towing a car with all four wheels on the ground behind a motorhome demands a system that stays rigid under braking, articulates properly over uneven ground, and connects to the towed vehicle at points strong enough to take the load. Blue Ox tow bars handle the first two, with self-aligning arms that latch under tension and release without a struggle when the load is off them. Vehicle-specific baseplates handle the third, engineered per make and model to tie into structural mounting points behind the fascia.
The wider flat towing range covers supplemental braking systems, safety cables and the accessories that make a complete legal setup, along with baseplate wiring and dinghy towing harnesses that pass lighting signals to the towed vehicle without back-feeding its electrical system.
For conventional trailer towing, Blue Ox weight distributing hitches with integrated sway control transfer tongue load onto the tow vehicle's front axle and resist the yaw that crosswinds and passing trucks induce.

The BX2192 is a baseplate manufactured by Blue Ox designed for towing a 2007-10 Lincoln MKX. It provides the connection point between the tow bar and the vehicle's frame. The baseplate includes mounting hardware, safety cables, and electrical connectors for towing system integration.
Motorhome mount tow bars are recommended for use with the BX2192. The RangeFinderII, Adventurer, and Ambassador tow bars cannot be used due to the design of the removable tabs. The Acclaim tow bar may be used, but it will not fold and store on the front of the vehicle. Most adapters cannot be used with this baseplate, except the BX8833 and BX88151.
Most adapters cannot be used with the BX2192 baseplate. The only exceptions are the BX8833 and BX88151 adapters, which are compatible.
Required tools include: Phillips screwdriver, 3/4" socket, hammer, 9/16" socket, reciprocating saw, 8MM socket, 1 1/4" hole saw, 13MM socket, 9/32" drill bit, 10MM socket, 13/32" drill bit, 5.5MM socket, 17/32" drill bit, utility knife, and Loctite RED. A hack saw blade is also needed for trimming the fascia.

Yes. The fascia and water reservoir must be removed during installation and then reinstalled. The metal bumper is also removed but is not reinstalled on the vehicle and should be returned to the customer. Various bolts and push pins from the front end must be removed and set aside for reinstallation.

Yes, trimming and cutting are required. A reciprocating saw is used to cut off tabs from the lower coolant line and to make two vertical cuts on the frame. A hack saw blade is used to trim plastic areas on the back side of the fascia. Specifically, you measure 2 1/2" back along the baseline of the plastic and trim all the way around, then measure another 1/2" outwards and trim again. A tab on the back side of the fascia is also trimmed off with a hack saw blade.
Yes. The top of the frame rail must be flattened a couple of times with a hammer until level, using a straight edge as a guide. This must be done to both sides of the vehicle. Additionally, tabs on the coolant line must be bent back towards the radiator using vise grips, and the cut area on the frame must be bent into the frame end and as far down as possible.
Yes, the modifications are permanent. The installation involves cutting off tabs from the coolant line, making vertical cuts in the frame, and trimming plastic from the fascia. These cuts and modifications cannot be reversed. For metric Grade 8.8 bolts: 6MM = 6 ft-lbs, 8MM = 16 ft-lbs, 10MM = 31 ft-lbs, 12MM = 54 ft-lbs, 14MM = 89 ft-lbs. For metric Grade 10.9 bolts: 6MM = 8 ft-lbs, 8MM = 22 ft-lbs, 10MM = 40 ft-lbs, 12MM = 70 ft-lbs, 14MM = 117 ft-lbs. Loctite RED must be applied to all bolts before tightening.

A 1 1/4" hole saw is used to drill two holes into the frame. A 9/32" drill bit is used to drill into the top of the cross member for coolant line bracket mounting. A 13/32" drill bit and 17/32" drill bit are used to ream out lower baseplate holes if needed.
Failure to read and follow the installation instructions could result in separation of the towed vehicle from the tow bar, causing property damage, loss of towed vehicle, personal injury or death. If the baseplate is in an accident, it must be replaced and cannot be reused. Do not use the baseplate if it is damaged or missing parts. An accident can cause unseen damage, and using it again could result in more damage or serious injury.
Permanent baseplate safety cables must be connected from the baseplate to the frame rail or cross member of the vehicle's frame. They must not be mounted against wires, hoses, or brake lines. They must not rub against any hoses or moving parts. The cables should remain installed as long as the baseplate is installed on the vehicle. Safety cables are to be used in conjunction with, and not as a replacement for, legally required safety cables attaching the towed vehicle to the towing vehicle. Each cable must have an adequate weight rating for the towing system; the weight rating of two cables together will not qualify.
Before each towing trip, inspect all towing equipment for cracked welds, missing or worn parts, and loose bolts. Ensure that Loctite RED has been used on all bolts and that they are tightened to the recommended torque specifications. Verify that all electrical connections are properly plugged in and functioning.
The installer must watch for oil cooler and air conditioner lines, electrical wires and hoses, and missing parts or attaching points on the frame. If the baseplate is improperly installed and comes into contact with a wire or hose, it could cause fluid leaks or electrical shorts some time after installation. When using power drills, be aware of the dangers of torque and drill bit length. Handling of cosmetic parts may require protective covers, rags, or specialty tools to prevent damage.
Before reinstalling the fascia, ensure that all electrical connections are plugged in properly and functioning. This is critical because the fascia covers the electrical components and must be installed last.
After the bolts in Step 15 are installed and the top bolts are reinstalled in Step 16, the height of the radiator carriage must be adjusted. Before removing the bolts that support the radiator carriage in Step 4, you must mark the height on the carriage to the top of the frame rail. This measurement is critical because removing these bolts alters hood latch height, which determines proper hood closure. After reinstalling the bolts, adjust the radiator carriage back to the marked height.

The manufacturer's warranty is voided if: (1) the installation instructions are not followed or altered in either installation or required equipment, (2) non-genuine or homemade parts are substituted for factory replacement parts, (3) the baseplate is used for towing behind a non-motorized vehicle, or (4) the baseplate is used after being damaged in an accident.

If the lower baseplate holes do not align with existing holes, they may need to be reamed out. Use a 13/32" drill bit first, and if necessary, use a 17/32" drill bit to enlarge the holes. The manual notes that dimensional variations between otherwise identical vehicles can be considerable, and minor adjustments such as filing holes slightly may be necessary to compensate for manufacturer tolerances.
If the baseplate does not sit level, the top of the frame rail may need to be flattened.
