Blue Ox is known internationally for recreational and commercial towing products, manufacturing in Pender, Nebraska since 1925. The line covers tow bars and vehicle-specific baseplates for flat towing behind a motorhome, sway control and weight distributing hitches, supplemental braking accessories and towing wiring, backed by patented designs and long-standing customer service.
Blue Ox has manufactured since 1925 and is recognised internationally for towing products and customer service. Flat towing is the discipline Blue Ox is best known for. Towing a car with all four wheels on the ground behind a motorhome demands a system that stays rigid under braking, articulates properly over uneven ground, and connects to the towed vehicle at points strong enough to take the load. Blue Ox tow bars handle the first two, with self-aligning arms that latch under tension and release without a struggle when the load is off them. Vehicle-specific baseplates handle the third, engineered per make and model to tie into structural mounting points behind the fascia.
The wider flat towing range covers supplemental braking systems, safety cables and the accessories that make a complete legal setup, along with baseplate wiring and dinghy towing harnesses that pass lighting signals to the towed vehicle without back-feeding its electrical system.
For conventional trailer towing, Blue Ox weight distributing hitches with integrated sway control transfer tongue load onto the tow vehicle's front axle and resist the yaw that crosswinds and passing trucks induce.

The BX2007 is a towing baseplate manufactured by Blue Ox designed specifically for 2020–2026 Mercedes Sprinter Van models, including those with Adaptive Cruise Control and Turbo. It is installed on the front of the vehicle to provide attachment points for a tow bar. The baseplate is computer tested to your vehicle's GVWR; exceeding this weight will void the manufacturer's warranty.

Required tools include: flat screwdriver, torque wrench, drill with 3/8" drill bit, Loctite Red, 7/16" wrench, 9/16" socket, 13MM socket, 7/16" socket, 9/16" wrench, T15 Torx, T25 Torx, T30 Torx, and T45 Torx. A chisel is also needed to remove caulk from the vehicle frame.

The grille, fascia, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) bracket, and bumper must be removed during installation and reinstalled after the baseplate is installed. The plastic shroud from the bottom of the radiator must also be removed. All removed components should be placed on a flat, sturdy surface.
Yes, drilling is required. Using a 3/8" drill bit and the baseplate as a template, you must drill two holes on each side of the baseplate. Note that the back inner hole on both sides and the back outer hole on the passenger side will need to be drilled at an angle. When using a power drill, be aware of the dangers of torque and drill bit length.
Yes, trimming is required. You must mark and trim the fascia around the convenience links and attachment tabs before reinstalling it. The manual notes that some drilling and trimming is required as part of the installation process.
A chisel must be used to remove caulk from the top of the vehicle frame to allow for a better baseplate fit. Cut edges of the frame should be painted with good quality paint to prevent rusting. These modifications are permanent.
According to the bolt torque specifications chart, 3/8" Grade 5 bolts should be torqued to 33 foot-pounds. Use Loctite Red on all bolt threads before tightening.

The installation sequence is: (1) remove fascia, grille, ACC bracket, and bumper; (2) remove plastic shroud and caulk from frame; (3) slide baseplate onto vehicle frame; (4) start front bolts without Loctite; (5) drill side holes using baseplate as template; (6) install side bolts; (7) attach safety cables to convenience links; (8) remove front bolts; (9) apply Loctite Red and torque all bolts to specification; (10) reinstall bumper and ACC bracket; (11) reinstall fascia and grille with trimming as needed.
Do not apply Loctite Red when starting the front three 8MM bolts initially (Step 12). Apply Loctite Red to all bolt threads only after drilling the side holes and before final tightening to torque specification (Step 16). The manual emphasizes: "Use Loctite Red on all bolt threads and tighten all bolts to the appropriate torque."
Tip the baseplate upward and slide it onto the frame. Line the inner edge of the baseplate with the inner frame edge. The convenience links should be toward the center of the vehicle.
Reinstall the ACC bracket by snapping the bottom to the bumper and reinstalling the existing bolts into the top two holes with three 1/4" washers on each bolt. Reconnect the electrical connector to the ACC sensor. Use Loctite Red on all bolt threads and tighten to the appropriate torque.
Attach the permanent baseplate safety cables to the provided convenience link on the baseplate. The cables must be connected from the baseplate to the frame rail or cross member of the vehicle's frame. Ensure the safety cables do not rub against any hoses or moving parts. Do not mount the cables against wires, hoses, or brake lines. Install on both sides of the vehicle.
Be sure that all electrical connections are plugged in and accessories are functioning properly before reinstalling the fascia. This includes verifying that the ACC sensor electrical connection is secure.
If the baseplate is in an accident, it must be replaced. Do not use it again. An accident can cause unseen damage, and using it again could result in more damage or serious injury. Do not use the baseplate if it is damaged or missing parts.

No. Permanent baseplate safety cables are to be used in conjunction with, and NOT a replacement for, legally required safety cables attaching the towed vehicle to the towing vehicle. The permanent cables prevent the towed vehicle from breaking loose in the event the connection between the frame and baseplate fails or becomes disconnected.
Blue Ox offers a three-year limited warranty to the original retail purchaser covering defects in material and workmanship under normal use and service. The warranty is non-transferable and requires the customer warranty card to be returned within 30 days of purchase and a copy of the original invoice to accompany any warranty claim. The warranty does not cover incorrect or improper installation, improper use, modification, neglect, failure to properly service and maintain, misuse, accident, normal wear and tear, paint, or rust. Exceeding the vehicle's GVWR voids the warranty. Towing behind a non-motorized vehicle voids the warranty.
